  • Thank god! Just earlier today I was raging how Pikatimer was so inconsistent! I was overshooting my frame despite pausing early and soft resetting at the right time, ending up 60 + frames away. . . I'll be sure to give it a try in a little bit. Gotta get an adamant Rhyhorn though. That could take a while.
yeah, emloop sucks and pikatimer is really confusing, (well for a n00b for me). untill yesterday i didnt know yours existed.
I was only +-2 frames off on my calibration, and i was going for a very hi delay (in the 2000s) so "It couldn't be better in that regard" =P
Yeah, there's a short first timer. Pikatimer lets you change the amount of seconds it lasts, with 5 as default.

You have to remember that most people are doing this on an emulator so they won't be able to SR and start the timer at the same exact time.
It's pretty much the same as 4th gen, however you actually enter the game the game and prepare to perform certain actions (like hitting A at the Daycare man after he says "take good care of it").
Pikatimer has target frame, seconds before reset, calibrated time, and "other frame". Pikatimer's 3rd gen timer works fairly well, except for the fact that you have to use beeps instead of the visual mode. I do have to say, visual mode makes it so much more precise.

And I'd love to test it. :)
Third generation is all frames, which pass by at 60 Hz. The seed is always 0. So less calculations would be needed.

And most people RNG on an emulator, so they'll need to be able to open some other window while the timer is going, as well as have a reasonable amount of time to pull up the emulator window, and hit the buttons necessary for a soft reset.
Just 3rd gen implementation. I have to use Pikatimer for that. :(

Other than that, it works really well. Half the time I hit the delay I'm going for on my first try.
Well, at least now I'm getting matches from the adjacent results although I'm not sure I'm doing the call check up properly or there's something I'm missing. Is the check up supposed to only have nine options? If so, why then does the results give ten calls? How am I supposed to do that? :S

But yeah, thanks for your tips and the timer, it did make a change for good :) Hopefully by the end of the night I'll be able to get my latios ^_^
I've found that choosing a seed with a higher target frame negates the problem, and doesn't take that much longer to do (anything in the 20s). So I won't worry about it anymore.
Could it be that when I call Joey before putting the parents in the daycare that he wants to battle me? I've heard that can fuck things.
Yeah, I'll have to change my calibrated second to about 20 or 25 to get in game. Or, could I just soft reset even while the game is still booting up and stuff? or do you have to be in game when you soft reset? I think you have to be in-game, but I could be mistaken.
I'm trying yours out now, not with my DS, just kinda playing with it. I like how it suggest the target seconds. I think I will use this so I don't have to wait around for a whole minute and get more tries. Also, the beeps are consistent. Pikatimer uses the default system notification sound for the OS, which works, but not very well. Often times, I find that the beep from pikatimer isn't aligned with the clock. I have very good perception of rhythm in time, so I can hear the slightest changes in frequency of the beeps. Pikatimer, most of the time, will have the beats aligned, but when they aren't in time, it's next to impossible to determine where the second falls, thus you miss your delay. Muting is always an option, but I find it's better to have something audible to go by. Also, I like how yours subdivides the second for better accuracy.
My calibrated delay is 584. Seconds doesn't really matter, but I try to go for 15 because that's usually right around my delay. I'm pretty sure I was just using a bad seed though because of the ID/SID. I tried doing that last night, but I couldn't hit my delay (stupid lagging pikatimer). I will try again sometime today hopefully (I owe this poke to someone, so I need to get it done).
I couldn't do it myself, but I got a supermod/administrator (in my case mingot) to remove it.
Well, I was told that in order to not get shinies, yet still use this form, put in 00000 for both ID and SID. I guess it was because I was just using 00000 for the SID. I have both my ID and SID for when I need it.
Hi again! Just want to ask if you already got the GameStop Raikou? Thanks! :)
