Sableye-Mega @ Sablenite
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 236 HP / 60 Atk / 212 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Will-O-Wisp
- Metal Burst
- Recover
- Sucker Punch

Charizard-Mega-X @ Charizardite X
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 Spe
Impish Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Will-O-Wisp
- Outrage
- Flare Blitz

Heatran @ Air Balloon
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 152 HP / 240 SpA / 116 Spe
Modest Nature
- Flash Cannon
- Fire Blast
- Rock Tomb
- Earth Power

This is a fairly simple team, which is more of a defensive team which deals with the counters/checks to specially defensive metal burst Sableye, which is a monster btw. Sableye itself tanks hits from many insanely powerful specially offensive mons and physically offensive mons. The investment in attack means after a metal burst against scarf Kyurem b it can kill it with sucker punch. It also 2hkoes meloetta with sucker punch, as well as taking specs greninjas hydro cannons like there is no tommorow. Defensive will-o-wisp charizard X is an incredible mon and it beats so many things which a normal Charizard set wouldn't, eg mega gyarados, even those with outrage, while still maintaining the stall breaking capabilities of a normal zard x set with dd, and with willo it has the bulk to set up multiple ddances. Finally we have Air Balloon Heatran with enough speed to outspeed Max speed base 100 mons after a rock tomb, and therefore counter choice band Kyub very nicely, as rock tomb+ flash cannon kills if it has no investment in hp, and if it has hp investment you can outspeed and 2hko. This is more a of a glue mon, as it beats mons which beat the the other two mons, like Togekiss and banded KYUB.

usefulcrab (Crustle) @ Custap Berry
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Shell Smash
- Rock Wrecker
- X-Scissor
- Counter

Gyarados @ Gyaradosite
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 68 Atk / 96 Def / 92 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Outrage
- Crunch

Charizard @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 224 HP / 160 Def / 20 SpA / 104 Spe
Modest Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Blast Burn
- Rock Tomb
- Solar Beam

This is my favourite team to use. Both Charizard and Gyarados are common, with multiple sets, which makes them unpredictable af, and these sets in particular I love (s/o aesf for both of 'em). Gyar beats zardx and kube and everything else it should beat (aesf posted a more detailed description somewhere in this thread), and zardy is EVd to handle kube, greninja, and opposing zardy reliably. The real gem tho is Crustle. This crab went 2-0 in the tour helping me on my undefeated-bar-that-one-fucking-will-o-miss-haxy-game run (15-1 iirc). s/o uc for set, this thing can beat so much if you predict right it's great. Counter bops most physical attackers (sub chzarx is annoying though), while smash+x-scissor+rock wrecker allows it to do a shitton to other stuff, which I can't think of rn bcz tired but it's good I promise.

I honestly don't understand h1v1 and I'm p bad at it but this team won a match iirc. Mega Diancie takes on the annoying af imprisonformers, with it's STABs bopping Shuckle/Giratina. Sub protects from future sleeps after your lum is gone. PDon is just powerful, and special is fun bcz it bops Blissey w/ Surf and Eruption is super strong. MAero is similar to PDon except physical, HJK bops Arceus and then 2 STABs + Trick fairly standard ig? idk it worked tho. not the best team prob (or maybe it is LOL) but i dont play this meta enough (only made it to 1400 w/ a triple pbond meme team when it was omotm lel) and have only used it like once or twice, so i can't judge if it's good or not.

1v1 Speed Tiers
One very important but often overlooked component of 1v1 is getting the right speed EVs on your pokemon so they outspeed certain common threats, which can be the difference between getting off two hits and winning and getting off one hit and losing.

How this list is sorted:
- Top 50 pokemon on the 1500 usage stats are used.
- Spreads and Choice Scarf items used at least 6% of the time are taken into account for.
- Boosting moves, Pre-mega speed stats, and Choice Scarves are accounted for separately.
- Since IVs are not implemented into the usage stats, 0 Spe IVs were done manually, and even then, only on standard sets.
- Since this list uses usage stats, it gives a far more accurate representation of what to prepare for on the ladder rather than a tournament, including the most common speed creeps.
- The same pokemon was not included twice if it had two spreads within +-10 of eachother. For example, if there were a pokemon with 206 Spe on one spread and 207 Spe on a less popular one, the 206 Spe one was used in this.

Nosepass should really be Unranked.

Its FEAR set does beat many offensive Pokémon, but it's completely outclassed by Probopass because Probopass can run exactly the same set at level 2, but with Toxic immunity.

Rhyperior Rank B ===> Rank A
@ Choice Band
Ability: Solid Rock : Helps you surive stuff you actually shouldn't survive.

EVs: 200 HP / 252 Atk / 56 SpD
sdef for kyurem-b, speed is to outslow perish song users

Brave Nature
to out slow perish song users and keep a high attack.

- Rock Wrecker
Rock wrecker allows Rhyperior to show off its power which can destroy most things that doesn't resist it while equipped with a band.

- Earthquake
Earthquake Alternate STAB, which lead it hits Pokemon that resists rock wrecker such as steel types.

- Rock Blast
Breaks through sturdy and substitutes.

- Fire Punch/Counter/avalanche
Fire punch breaks through ferrothorn which is a problem to rhyperior, counter is to defeat strong physical attackers such and Avalanche let rhyperior counters mega salamence or garchomp.

Pokémon that it beats the common set from most of the time.

Mega Charizard X, Kyurem-B, Mega Mawile, Mega Lopunny, Mega Salamence, Dragonite, Azumarill, Garchomp, Mega Metagross, Talonflame, Aron, Aegislash, Jirachi

I agree with the most of the ranks but in my opinion at least few of ranks should be discussed

Meloetta for S rank

Okay people who have played a lot of 1v1 know how huge of a threat Specs Meloetta is, it OHKO's 80% of the meta + It can eat up attacks from other A/S ranked pokemon for example Kyu-b.
Before you say "Its already A rank", just hear me out. In my opinion Meloetta is as a huge threat and it defines the metagame as much as Mega Mawile and Mega Salamence does.
But hey, just my opinion, i just want this at least to be discussed.

Mega Slowbro for A rank

This thing.. is more than annoying. It just haves too amazing def stats, access to calm mind and reliable recover.
If you don't have a counter to this thing well gl and hf, it isn't fun to get Slowbro'd
Ice beam/Scald, Psyshock, CM, Rest/Recover is the set i like to use.
In my opinion B rank just doesn't do justice for this beast

Wobbuffet for C rank

Wobbuffet should be the icon for 1v1.In my opinion it defines the 1v1 meta better than any other, outsmart your opponent and counter them.
I know that its easily countered, Lacks in almost everything but its still the one pokemon that makes me smile when i come against it.
Its the king of low ladder. Counter, Mirrorcoat and Encore makes this pokemon fun to use.
Is it predictable? yeah, Is it bad? not really.

Well i hope you guys will at least discuss about these ranks :I

Keldeo -> B-Rank
- Strong STAB attack with Hydro Pump/Scald and Secret Sword.
- Able to KO a big part of the meta.
- Decent coverage with Icy Wind
- A good 108 speed tier.
- A good 129 Special Attack.

Other than that it isn't able to beat Charizards most of the time, nor Kyurem-Black, nor Mega-Salamence. However it beats Mega-Mawile, Garchomp, and other B-Rank stuff lke Entei, Victini and stuff like Lucario if you run Scald and get a burn.

It's a good Pokémon who can deal out a lot of damage to others but isn't just quite strong enough to just KO your opponent most of the time before it KOs you.

I think Chansey should be moved to S-rank.
Chansey @ Eviolite
Ability: Irrelevant
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Soft-Boiled
- Counter / Charm
- Seismic Toss / Toxic
- Charm / Toxic / Refresh / Sing / Other

I know nominating Chansey for S rank is a little contentious, but bear with me. Although it has a slight case of 4mss, it can beat a huge number of sets one-on-one and often takes little support to be used well on a team. The set works simply: Against special attackers, it relies upon its massive special bulk to stall out the attacks, using Soft-Boiled to recover while slowly fainting the opponent through Seismic Toss or Toxic damage. Against all-out physical attackers, such as choiced physical attackers, Chansey can either use Counter alongside its massive HP stat to straight-up KO them, or use Charm to stop the moves from 2HKOing and stall the opponent out.
Charm is needed to beat pokemon such as Dragon Dance Mega Salamence or Charizard X, as otherwise they can simply boost up without fear of taking damage from Counter and safe in the knowledge that toxic and Seismic Toss won't do enough damage between them. However, Charm isn't enough to stop some physical attackers such as Choice Band Kyurem-B, which can 2HKO even after charm and so require Counter to beat. Toxic is needed to beat pokemon such as Mandibuzz, Pressure stalling Dusclops, or any offensive pokemon also running recovery such as Roost Charizard Y. Refresh is useful for beating opposing toxic stallers such as opposing Chansey, and should be run over Heal Bell or Aromatherapy due to higher PP.
One of the best ways of beating this set is Substitute, as it blocks Charm and Toxic and means the attacker can use a physical attack without fear of counter KOing in return. However, almost all of the pokemon that can use Substitute against Chansey have less than 404 HP, meaning that careful predictions and use of Seismic Toss can still cause this tactic to fail. Sing deserves a special mention as it bypasses substitute, and can allow Chansey to beat a number of pokemon because of this, however its low accuracy causes it to be unreliable.
Trick is also an option to beat Chansey with, however even after trick Chansey can be hard to beat. For example, Choice Specs Meloetta still loses to Chansey locked into Seismic Toss unless it gets a SpD drop early on with Energy Ball (as Dream Eater Gengar can tell you).
The EVs given allow Chansey to tank physical hits very well, and the extra HP compared to the standard OU set of 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpD is useful at times, whereas it very rarely has to face any special attackers that threaten to beat it. A Relaxed Nature and 0 Spe IVs allow it to Speed Tie against Perish Song Azumarill that didn't drop their level to 99, although positive speed creep can be used instead if outspeeding Mega Mawile is more important. 0 Atk IVs reduce damage from Foul Play and Confusion, though this is rarely important.

The set is outright beaten by Aegislash, Mega Sableye, Gengar (and its mega), well played Perish Song mons and any ghost mon with Taunt or Taunt mon with good recovery. Without running the rare Sing it also loses to FEAR, Imprison/Transform Smeargle, Pressure-stalling mons with Substitute, most Ferrothorn sets, and a variety of other mons. It also requires a whole load of prediction to beat most Substitute mons, while the 4mss can cause it to straight-up lose to Band Kyurem-B, Toxic Stallers, or a variety of other things depending on its set.

However, the fact that there are only around 5 or so hard counters to this set, alongside its ability to destroy a huge number of top-tier threats when played correctly, and its ability to make opponents run Substitute or other moves to try to beat it, make me think this threat is worthy of being S-rank.

Golem for B RANK
Golem can outclass a moderate part of the 1v1 metagame with its deadly Sturdy liechi/weaknesspolicy Sucker Punch combo.

If you give it max attack and some speed evs, this thing is a beast.

It's easily checked by stall threats (Mew, Pory2, Deoxys-D, Bulky Char X, Bro) and Kyurem-B. But the amount of good coverage it has is insane...

Factoring Sturdy and Policy in...

+1 252+ Atk Golem Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Mega Mawile: 420-494 (138.1 - 162.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+2 252+ Atk Golem Rock Blast (3 hits) vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Salamence: 402-486 (121.4 - 146.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
It also checks Char Y, and Sturdy threats like Crustle, Aron, etc.

This thing is the bane of almost any Hyper Offense, which is why it outclasses a moderate part of the meta.

Though with some mons it's easy to play around, so that's why it should be B Rank.

In my opinion, It should stay in rank A .

Although Chansey is a boss in 1v1, It has a lot of counters.

It faints easily against sweepers, Psyshock users and fast fighting types but is really great against other Physical Pokémon that don't have fighting stab.
and it can't really do anything to Ghost types like Gengar and Banette.
Banette plays Chansey like a toy. Even though you already mentioned this.

I'm really not sure about this. I understand the reasoning, but I've personally never seen Keldeo actually be very useful. It seems like it dies to too many of the most common 1v1 threats to be particularly effective. Here are the only things in S and A Rank it beats: Greninja (depending on the moveset), Garchomp (if it isn't Scarf), and Mega Gyarados (in all likelihood).

I might be more inclined toward C.

Also, about Mega Mawile:

252 SpA Keldeo Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Mega Mawile: 186-220 (61.1 - 72.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ SpA Keldeo Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Mega Mawile: 205-243 (67.4 - 79.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Life Orb also usually fails to OHKO.

I'm in agreement here, but two things:

1) You forgot to account for Intimidate in the Mega Salamence calculation.
2) Golem can actually handle a typical Kyurem-B pretty easily.
4 SpA Teravolt Kyurem-B Ice Beam vs. 252 HP / 36 SpD Golem: 306-362 (84 - 99.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Im on phone ill do fancy shit later.

One thing, chan the man.

Chansey========>S

This thing is anti-meta.
Beats all s-rank threats bar mence depending on whether its submence or not. I know it works got me high enough lol. I can't post proof of 1700 but ill try later, if not ask dream eater gengar he saw it. Charm, thunder wave, seismic toss, soft-boiled beats all special attackers period. It beats most physical attackers apart from submegamence, mega lucario and SubPunch mega heracross, and let's face it the last two are very uncommon. Chansey is unexpected and OP. Please listen XD.

I did 10 battles with Haxorus, Keldeo, and Meloetta and here's what I think.

I find Haxorus to be Rank C because even though it can beat some of the meta, A lot can outspeed and tank Haxorus's attacks. Haxorus also has very very low SpD so it's easy to faint with Special Moves.

Meloetta fits on staying in the A rank. It's SpA is significant especially with choice specs, Having the move Trick can stop threats like Azumarill from using Perish Song and making you faint first. It suits well Offensive and Defensive in some ways. The main downsides and why it's not 2 rank, Meloetta can still be easily KOed especially against the Rank S Pokémon on that list, It can deal with a lot of Pokémon but not certain Mega Evolutions like Gyarados and Slowbro, The Eon family, the Rank S Megas, and other bulky Mega evolutions.

And I agree about Keldeo being Rank B. It does significant damage with Choice Specs, It's speed is great for the meta, And It is able to KO a lot of the meta. The only main downsides are grass types, the really bulky mons and mons that tend to have Max Hp, SpD, or both.

Cloyster: Unranked ~~> B

Cloyster @ Choice Band
Ability: Skill Link
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Icicle Spear
- Rock Blast
- Spike Cannon
- Razor Shell

Cloyster @ White Herb
Ability: Skill Link
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 SpD / 4 Spe
Careful Nature
- Shell Smash
- Icicle Spear
- Rock Blast
- Substitute

Cloyster @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Skill Link
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Icicle Spear
- Rock Blast
- Spike Cannon
- Razor Shell

Thank you Articuno I for the idea of the scarfed Cloyster.

I tested on Cloyster's Viability between these 3 Cloyster sets and did over 20 battles with them.

In my opinion, I'd say It's a rank B because it can actually KO a lot of Pokemon in the metagame, especially with its multi hit moves and after the 20+ battles, I found it it fairly adaptable to the metagame, it can possibly beat Pokemon higher than rank B Like Gyarados-Mega, Kyurem-Black, Chansey, Salamence, and both the Charizard Mega Evolutions for example, and It could easily tank physical attacks.

Below, are some big advantages and disadvantages of Cloyster
Big Brightsides
Can do a lot of damage with Multi Hit moves
Can beat down F.E.A.R. Pokemon with Multi Hit Moves
Can make Multi Hit moves hit 5 times all the time due to Skill Link
Can tank in Physical moves
Can increase Attack and Speed with Shell Smash
Great variety of movepools
Attack boost from Choice Band or Shell Smash
Speed boost from Choice Scarf of Shell Smash

Big Downsides
Extremely vulnerable to Special moves
Rock Blast misses
Status hitting Cloyster
Sometimes outclassed by Cinccino

Each of Cloyster's moves has a significant purpose to why it's even there

  • Shell Smash to raise Attack and Speed, Of course it raises Special Attack too, but that's not needed for Cloyster
  • Icicle Sphere is asignificant STAB move for Cloyster to easily KO opponents and has 100% accuracy
  • Rock Blast against those who have rock weaknesses but not ice, or has a resistance to ice but not rock. This move also does a lot of damage but has a huge downside of missing regardless of its 90% accuracy
  • Substitute to prevent status especially from Chansey (which they usually first go for)
  • Spike Cannon against those resistant to ice or rock but not normal. The move is usually rarely used but still great for when it's needed. This move like Icicle Sphere has 100% accuracy
  • Razor Shell for STAB and when the opponent has water weakness. It can also be for steel types who can just easily resist your other moves. This move has 95% accuracy but has a 50% chance of lowering opponent's defense.
Even though Cloyster is rare in the 1v1 Metagame, it still deserves a pretty good viability ranking of B. It's too good for C and just barely not enough for A!

Togekiss for A Rank

Togekiss is known as the master of flinchhax. But there's more to it than that. Togekiss has the sp.atk and bulk to make up for a remarkable Pokemon.
Some sets include:
Choice Scarf (Max Speed, sp.atk)
This set is about as haxy as it sounds, though it's not much of a viable one unless you're up vs certain teams.
Paraflinch (T-wave, air slash, hp and sp.atk/spdef)
This set is better. Togekiss can stand up to many threats and either flinch em to death or roost and wait for para then plot.
And the one I just recently experimented with (As I love experimenting with odd sets, you've gotta know that by now):
Custap Power Counter...
Air Slash, Dazz, Flamethrower, Counter. With hp, def and sp.atk.

This set is completely anti-meta, as well as the other toge sets too.

Now let me show you just how bulky bulkakiss can be...
upload_2015-4-19_15-34-22.png

I laddered about 20 times earlier using 1 Togekiss, with my set. I won more battles than I lost.

More on the custap set.. it allows Togekiss to stand up Victini...
252 Atk Victini V-create vs. 252 HP / 64 Def Togekiss: 238-282 (63.6 - 75.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
Then counter that lil shit.
252 Atk Life Orb Weavile Ice Punch vs. 252 HP / 64 Def Togekiss: 296-351 (79.1 - 93.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
Flamethrower or counter and that thing is ded.

Counter alert! Or dazz custap, as one dazz doesn't kill.

Now the custap is mostly used a last resort.

But with more and more viable sets being introduced into the meta, there's no harm in being odd.

Togekiss is checked by Salamence and the Chars.

Togekiss is a great Pokemon in the meta, and it should be bumped up to A Rank.

Rumplestiltskin

I will rain lels all over you and you will drown in them
While we did discuss all of the most relevant pokes in the meta while making this viability ranking, some pokes might have slipped through the cracks in terms of which rank they should have, and that's why you see me say that
Mega Alakazam should be moved down to C rank

Base form Ability: Magic Guard
EV's: Timid:0/0/0/252/4/252
Suggested moveset

-Disable
-Protect / Substitute
-Encore
-Psychic / Psyshock / Dazzling Gleam

This poke with it's speed can, aside from possibly ohko'ing opponents with Psychic / Psyshock / Dazzling Gleam, use these moves to put a halt to many of the choiced users by simply using Protect and then Disable, resulting in the struggle of the opposing poke. And if the opposing poke doesn't carry a choice item you use Protect, then depending if you think you will be fine if the opposing poke uses the same move again, you use Encore, and then Disable, to cause the poke to struggle.
If however the opponent uses a move you don't want them using again, you use Disable after Protect, and then Encore to make them struggle. Once the opponent is struggling, you can finish them off with Psychic / Psyshock / Dazzling Gleam. While Psychic or Psyshock are superior for damage, there's the case where you face a dark type opponent, in which case you won't be able to deal any direct damage, which can be fatal to you, and that's why Dazzling Gleam (which nothing is immune to, and also hits the common dragon type with double effectiveness) is a safer choice. Substitute can be used over Protect to deal with pokes that use status moves. Not mega evolving to keep Magic Guard can also be a way to secure a win against an opponent that relies on indirect damage.

Notable checks:
Charizard-Mega-X, Charizard-Mega-Y, Mawile-Mega, Salamence-Mega, Aegislash, Gardevoir-Mega, Metagross-Mega, scarf Greninja, Gyarados-Mega, Altaria-Mega, non-choiced Dragonite, Extremespeed band Dragonite, non-choiced Rhyperior

Notable Pokemon it Beats:
Specs Greninja, Venusaur-Mega, Specs Porygon-Z, Garchomp, Specs Meloetta, Band Rhyperior (if Alakazam using Psychic), Smeargle (if Alakazam using Substitute), Conkeldurr

Now the problem with Mega Alakazam is that if the opponent knows that you will be using this strat (which most will suspect, if they already didn't know, when you start with Protect or Sub), they can easily beat you if they aren't choiced, just by first using a move that you need to Disable or possibly lose to, and then going for another move. This will mean that they won't struggle, because you would be Encore'ing the other move, and also you wasted a turn while the opponent used a possibly match deciding move. And since Mega Alakazam has nothing going for it defensively, taking pretty much any hit can be fatal. While it has trouble against non choiced pokes, it also has trouble against some choiced ones, such as scarf Greninja, which outspeeds and OHKO's it, and band Dragonite using Extremespeed (it will get in an Extremespeed and then KO with struggle). Thus by the definition of:

C rank: Reserved for Pokemon that have a niche in the 1v1 Metagame. These Pokemon have some good matchups against other Pokemon but are hindered by being easily checked by other common Pokemon. These Pokemon have a hard time adapting with the metagame.

I think that Mega Alakazam should be moved down to C rank.

I agree with this, i use babiri berry on counter togekiss though so it can beat mawile 100 percent of the time.

An interesting alternative I've just started testing out is Charm Togekiss, which can beat Mawile fairly easily with enough defense investment.
