2010 music

i really hope new arcade fire doesn't sound like neon bible cause that was boring shit and it was almost enough to make me not get funeral. luckily i did get funeral and wake up is the best song ever made ever except for mozart's 9th maybe

I just did a few more runthroughs of neon bible. I think it's too underated. I mean there aren't too many powerful songs exactly but I think they wanted it to be mellow and slow so you could think about it.

freeleech? xP
yep !_!

also godspeed you! black emperor are back together which kind of makes up for some bands breaking up / the death of nujabes this year. don't know if they plan on recording anything new though (or touring australia sadly).

For those into psychedelic, garage or folk music. New EP coming soon called Warm Slime.

Check out "Ghost in the Trees" here: http://rcrdlbl.com/artists/Thee_Oh_Sees/music

haha, hell yeah. it's causing me to go buy a 1TB hard drive tomorrow. xD

oh, and the Periphery album leaked last night, and it's fucking MEAN.

the vocals are pretty spotty unfortunately, but you kind of get used to them after a couple listens. i'm salivating to get my hands on the instrumental version, which will most likely be the one i rock out to on a very regular basis.

also new Sky Eats Airplane EP leaked today. haven't heard it yet but i'm very keen on hearing what influence Travis Orbin has had on them.

forgiveness rock record is a huge dissapointment. completely forgettable :(

the whole thing has just been dialled down and it really doesnt work at all. the opening tracks experiment with beats and even some glitchy noise stuff but none of it amounts to anything more than experimental wankery with no structure or goal.

i dont know, it just feels like the guitars are all mellow and the voices all reverby and it's kind of distant in a really boring way. man.

some of the experiments with horn stuff is alright, but i couldn't tell you which tracks theyre on because the whole album is just a forgettable mess.

wait scratch that i think it was meet me in the basement that uses trumpets towards the end, that and world sick are the only memorable moments.

really dissapointed. hopefully this is happening is better :(

Wha? World Sick is the best song of the year so far. Sure, FRR isn't You Forgot It In People, but it's a good album. You need to stop thinking of it as an experiment and start thinking of it as what it is: a Rock Record.

Second time's the charm, trust me.

I didnt like it alot too (but I think its a solid 3,5).. You Forgot It In People totally beats it

i am excited about LCDs new album too.. gonna listen to it soon.

Just finished This Is Happening and I have to say it completely blew FRR out of the water. It's really lovely sounding and very satisfying after 4 years of waiting. I wouldn't call it better than Sound of Silver yet (I'm still on my first listen), but it's really close. I think FRR was just forgettable in comparison.

I've just seen the ad for Jeff Beck's new album, Emotion And Commotion.
I'm not usually a fan of Jeff Beck, yet I feel oddly compelled to give this album a go for some reason. It may be because I've gotten bored of all my rhythm-game-trance soundtracks.

Anybody heard it? I'd like to know if I'll be wasting my time or not.

yikes guys, it's been like a day, I'm hoping you still give it another try. For you forget it in people (probably will be superior) it took me some time to appreciate all songs.

but so far I'm loving the album. I already heard world sick, all to all, and forced to love as singles earlier this year and loved them, but some tracks are already standing out for my first listens: texico bitches, ungrateful little father (especially love this one), haven't given the last four tracks as much as a listen but they weren't bad so I'm sure going back to them. I don't know I've liked them all at least, and been satisfied. edit: ok now mark up my sweetest kill as spectacular also the song that I swear sam prekop is singing is good too(didn't the sea and the cake and tortoise produce this album?)

will give lcd a chance later

FRR and TIH are both superb, but TIH is the better of the two. "World Sick" is the best song from either of them, though.

But yeah, give every album like ten billion tries. I can't see myself liking TIH more than SoS, but it could happen.

Side note: You are ALWAYS wasting your time with non-Yardbirds Jeff Beck. ALWAYS.

new lcd soundsystem AND circa in the same day? april is proving to be an excellent month for me...

edit: found both records to be thoroughly enjoyable! circa is easily in my top 3 this year so far, and LCD Soundsystem was also great, though not really up to par with Sound of Silver :/

Listened to new LCD all of today, great as always. Definitely not as good as Sound of Silver, but you can't expect every album to be perfect. :3

I'll listen to Circa Survive tommorow.

TIH is definitely better than FRR, even though it wasnt as awful as it was when i first listened to it. not sure why i was initially so negative, but i still think it's a mostly forgettable album and probably their weakest, although i haven't listened to feel good lost for a long time.

TIH on the other hand is fan-fucking-tastic. i wasnt the biggest lcd fan, but having run through it a few times now has completely changed my opinion of sound of silver. drunk girls, all i want, and you wanted a hit jumped out as highlights imo. will probably listen to this a whole lot more this year!

I am eagerly anticipating Never Say Never But Don't Forget to Die's If This is a Dream Then I Must be Sleeping. Also looking forward to Extraordinary Penis' debut album.

Also holy shit Second of Several Shagged Sheep in a Sauna just leaked! orgasm

EDIT: Just had a listen. Don't think it's as good as their previous work. I think the band's tried to drift from their post-neo-Marxist sound into a more elaborate version of jungle-core, and it just doesn't click, maybe after another 999 listens?

EDIT EDIT: Probably not, the chord progression is some of the worst I've ever heard bar Alvin and the Chipmunks. Ban this shit
