2010 music

haha yea.. I typed all of these in google and no result
(a result was about John Holmes', a porn star btw, extraordinary penis size who died of AIDS)

LCD Soundsystem and Circa Survive released great albums imo btw

(and I listened to 65daysofstatic's "The Fall of Math", omg awesome)

okay good news for those disappointed in frr: after a few listens, it fucking slays

wow, this is really good, guys wow

might top tih not kidding

Forgiveness Rock Record is weird.

a lot of the songs just seem to meander along at the same pace, maybe because it's my first listen but to give examples All to All and Romance To The Grave just seem to go nowhere and then end.

for a rock record it's not very rock-y. maybe it is for the band and i'm not denying that there are a handful of upbeat songs but it feels very slow overall. i don't know if they wanted the record to be lighthearted or not either, at some points it just sounds goofy and at other times it's all serious. it feels like they mixed an ambient album with an indie rock album and i'm not sure if it worked.

i liked the first song and Ungrateful Little Father quite a bit though. and some of the electronic Tortoise-esque parts early on were good as well. (this is all coming from someone who has never listened to BSS before, might give their other albums a try and see if i enjoy this one later)

New BSS sounds to me like MGMT-lite.

This is after just a couple of listens anyway.

(I dont particularly like MGMT btw, just to put into perspective how unimpressed I have been with it)

Have a nice day.

This Is Happening has the exact same problem that Sound of Silver and the self-titled had: a few great songs (think, Dance Yrsef Clean, Someone Great, All My Friends, Daft Punk is Playing at My House, Losing My Edge) and a bunch of boring ones. Maybe he should just stick to singles/EPs???

Sound Of Silver? Problems? Come on, man. Every song grows.

And I felt the way Hip did at first with FRR barring that honestly-frightening MGMT comparison. Seriously, that's straight-outta-nowhere.

I'm not hearing it. Mind elaborating?

Note: After no less than seven listens of each album, I prefer FRR. Both are phenomenal.

It's the 80s revivalness.

To be fair, on further listens, it is mostly kept to the first two tracks. But honestly what the hell is Chase Scene?

Also World Sick and Time to Pretend are kinda similar..

And The Tallest Man on Earth - The Wild Hunt is good.

Have a nice day.

Yeah, I've been listening to The Wild Hunt for a few weeks and it's really nice. Really reminds me of a lot of Blood On The Tracks era Dylan.

I guess World Sick and Time To Pretend are both really big songs, but World Sick is aeons above it. I love World Sick too much, man.

New Wintersleep album in a bit - 'Nuff said.

wasn't aiming to post in this thread again in awhile, but i didn't know that and thats cool news. my only concerns though is i really hope they go back the the Untitled album sound more than the last album.(Untitled was incredible) I mean the last one was good with laser beams and weighty ghost and stuff but too many like rock anthems for me if that makes sense? although it did have that cool album cover.

also about bss, Sweetest Kill is an incredible song too the more i listen to it, and yeah many listens into the album and i think its really top notch now

Yeah, I see what you mean about the 'rock anthems', but I still think that Welcome to the Night Sky is awesome (and yeah, that artwork is amazing). I found Untitled kind of 50/50 on good and bad tracks, while Welcome to the Night Sky has more songs that I can often find myself enjoying.
Anyways, they have a free track for download on their website, I like it a lot, though it's more "Welcome to the Night Sky" then "Untitled".

Also, what is this BSS album everyone is talking about? I can't seem to find it.

Unless the search feature is betraying me, there has been no mention of The New Pornographers in this thread yet. Unacceptable. New album comes out May 4th, anyone else excited for some indie pop???

Generally speaking, I'm not to hard to please when listening to music (I listen to pretty much anything) but aside from a few tracks, here and there, most of the albums posted were very bland.

Also, could you please post the 'better' songs of an album; along with artist and album to give a sample.

For example, Die AntWoord has a new album coming out soon. Check out Enter the Ninja and Zef Side.

(I listen to pretty much anything)

please post your last.fm so i can smirk at how untrue this claim actually is.

EDIT:

Pat Metheny was alright, but i like the idea of the album more than the album it's self.

CocoRosie has released another slice of deliciously quirky and strangely cute meringue pie.

i mentioned it earlier! this is probably my most anticipated album behind high violet. crash years is so fucking good, so ive got high hopes.

It's better to listen to whole albums.
Unless the band or artist is mainly a producer of singles, there's no reason you shouldn't runthrough the whole thing.

a track from the upcoming album from the national, 'high violet' popped up a few days ago

it's called "afraid of everything"

heavy drums from boxer are back, but they are not hard, fast and driving. it's really mellowed a lot from the sound of this track. it's like 'sad songs for dirty lovers' meets brand new's 'the devil and god are raging inside me'

lyrics are hopeless, there's none of boxer's triumphant calm. it's really smooth and chilled, but at the same time haunting, much like lots of the stuff on the devil and god

sounds v good, can't wait for the whole thing which will be may 10th in europe, may 11th in na

New Crystal Castles songs, Doe Deer and Celestica. I love Celestica, Doe Deer is pretty good too. We are one step closer to a HQ recording of Baptism!

Oh and the album name... Is... Crystal Castles. Yeah, it's the exact same as their first, no biggie (except that my ipod can't comprehend splitting them up ;^;).

Really scares. :I Album comes out June 7th/8th (UK/US). Can't wait~

Also previews for all tracks of Omni are available some where... Go check 'em out, all tracks are great!

Are you saying that I am joking? Put simply: when your lead single is about people you consider your friends not noticing you, the album is not going to be triumphant. Perhaps you are confusing Obama's promotional video featuring Fake Empire for the song itself whose main lyric is "We're half awake in our fake empire." Or, Slow Show which is about fucking things up and desperately wanting to make things right with your loved one so much so that you can't pay attention to your surroundings.

Also, RE: Sound of Silver having problems, it may just be me, but I can't listen to a full album of dance music. It bores me. I reviewed it for my radio station when it came out and gave Someone Great and All My Friends the highest ranking and then one more pity thumbs up for North American Scum because it was radio friendly. Also New York I Love You is an abortion of a song.
