Capello would never allow a heavy drinker to start regularly, it would contradict a lot of what he's done and he would never be able to face the media again.

Lampard back in the lineup for Parker, apparantly because Parker is 1 yellow away from being suspended. Guess they want to keep him available for the Montenegro match. Barry's still in there......sigh. Would have been fun to see Cleverley start but I guess they needed SOME kind of holding mid.

Holland become the second nation to qualify. Spain and Italy should be right on their heels

at least he played 4 minutes...

Aye, haha better than nowt...

4-3-1-2 with Young playing attacking mid and Carroll/Rooney up front will be tasty once Carroll gets some first team play and some confidence. Could possibly be a shout against Montenegro seeing as we only need 1 point anyway.

Like you say I'm sure it's difficult for anyone with a £35mil price tag, especially playing alongside the beast that is Suarez... And it's not like the fans are giving him much of a break either... Looking forward to him playing up front vs Stoke though, could possibly end up as a battle of attrition, but I'm sure 'Pool will break through eventually, especially after Downing's nice display tonight.

Regardless of the poor performance, we got the 3 points we needed and I'm sure Capello will rip the shit out of the squad so we don't have an upset vs Montenegro.

@Zeromus: Personally, I'd love to see Rooney playing in the AM role off Carroll with Downing and Young as inverted wingers. CM would probably be Parker and Wilshere.

Hahah, that's funny, I actually had the same conversation with an irl mate a few days ago. Rooney does brilliant things with the ball when he gets a touch, but he doesn't see enough of the ball when he's playing lone striker... I definitely agree that Rooney could bring some great support and still provide an attacking force if he was played attacking mid... Saying that, none of us will ever see Capello playing Rooney as AM. He has a few experiments (as we've seen lately), but if he doesn't dare play Walcott as a striker then he'll never put Rooney as AM. Depressing really, but could be worse I guess.

Looking forward to Terry being phased out for Phil Jones, Cole coming out for Baines/Bertrand and Lampard coming out for Wilshere (once he's back fit). The strength of our England squad is definitely in the youth, you only have to look at how Smalling did today, excellent on the attack and great defending when it came to it.

better foward passing from england.. but still can not keep the ball

i would personally stick welback out there with rooney when he is fit again, they are building a partnership at club level, which is valuable.

I hope it's a joke.

Watched Germany vs. Poland. ended 2-2. Just wanted to say to Arsenal fans not expect big things from Per Mertesacker. Seeing this match just confirmed that i was right; this man is a walking disaster.

i said ONE united player, where did i say jones and cleverly?
the key thing here is having young/rooney and welbeck imo

Love King Kenny's press conferences :D

A reporter asks him: 'Sir Alex says its a 6 horse race for the title'..... Total silence when he said 'if Alex said it it must be true'. Total P** take at press who hang on Fergie's every word. Even more subtle was when he filled the silence with 'as long as we're 1 of them.. are we?'. Acts like he hadn't even heard Fergie's comments before xD

The thing with Kenny is, I can tell those comments are a light hearted joke rather than something more malicious. In regards to Sir Alex anyway, but he's a pure dick to the press which you have to love.

Anyway, onto the weekend and proper football is back! Tough away trip for Man Utd at Bolton. They gave Man City a real good go there last time so it'll have to be a good performance to pick up the points. There's also our toughest Champions League Group Game against Benfica Away in the week, followed by Chelsea at Old Trafford. Three wins here would really lay down a marker, so I'm hopeful.

Sunderland, like Spurs, are horrible at home and we should be able to pick up 3 points with ease. They lost 4-2 last season so let's hope we keep a clean sheet this time with Cech likely to return. Can't wait to see Meireles in a blue shirt.I don't think AVB will start with Torres for obvious reasons with Sturridge more likely to start having served his three match ban.I have a feeling Lukaku's gonna open his account of Chelsea goals on Saturday. That's gonna be followed by our CL match with Leverkusen who have a certain "Michael Ballack" in their arsenal of players :P Should be fun.

I'd like to know your opinion on this Meireles transfer.Do you think he's gonna be another deadline day purchased, transfer request submitting flop who was bought from Liverpool?

fergie sees a 6 horse race for the title? which title is this? cos arsenal and spurs dont seem to be up there.
gonna be hard to bet on united. either gonna scrape a 0-1 or trash bolton

I know bolton are a tough team to face, but look at whats happened when they played Liverpool/Man City

Big win for united imo, especially considering how lethal they looked against arsenal.

United win is usually a safe bet, but odds of 1.4-1.5 on an away win are not that much value. If i was gonna bet on this game i would go with the both teams to score market. Only 5 teams failed to score against United away last season, Bolton are a decent team with goals in them and you could get odds around 1.8-1.9.

You will make more money on a double of over 1 goal in the game and Arsenal to win, the odds on United are that low the first bet offers better value imo.

I've just put a -2 goal handicap on Man City, odds at 13/10 on Coral, not sure about SkyBet but it should be similar. Chucked a cheeky tenner on... You can almost guarantee City are gonna beat Wigan by 3 or more goals at Eastlands, they've been on fire lately.

If this one comes in I've made £123 in bets over a week hahah.

Hmm, Man City at a -2 handicap sounds like a decent bet. Free £10 and get £23.75 back.

I'm not sure whether to go for that, or risk it on Arsenal at home to Swansea on a -1 handicap. It's evens so I could make an extra £10 back and a 2-0+ to Arsenal seems somewhat likely despite their bad start.

Arsenal seems like the safer bet to start with. I can see Man City winning 3-0 but I think if I put that bet on they'll win 2-0.. xD
