well if leeds dont go up at least we'll get 12 easy points off arsenal and bolton next season

I expected a loss but to lose to a handball goal and a wonder strike/chesney error makes it hurt even more, and we probs had the better game too.

it's the only way we lose now.. really.

Why can't we be like Inter Milan.. and be 4th from bottom but still get less publicity.

I'd 8-2 be an Arsenal fan at the minute. I'd never go 2-1 of their games, not even if it was 4-3!

When your team is struggling, make fun of 'em.

england squad to face montenegro

England squad:
gk: Carson (Bursaspor), Hart (Manchester City), Stockdale (Ipswich Town)
def: Baines (Everton), Cahill (Bolton Wanderers), Cole (Chelsea), Jagielka (Everton), Jones (Manchester Utd), Richards (Manchester City), Terry (capt, Chelsea), Walker (Tottenham Hotspur)
mid: Barry (Man City), Downing (Liverpool), Johnson (Man City), Lampard (Chelsea), Milner (Man City), Parker (Tottenham), Walcott (Arsenal), Young (Man Utd)
att: Bent (Aston Villa), Carroll (Liverpool), Rooney (Man Utd), Welbeck (Man Utd), Zamora (Fulham).

--------------hart
richards--terry----cahill--cole
----------barry---parker
walcott-----------------young
--------rooney---welbeck/bent/carroll

any other ideas?

I'd start Downing over Walcott, Lampard over Barry and potentially Jones over Richards or Cahill but otherwise that's pretty much my line up

Also agreeing with Lee, Sturridge was amazing today...

bradley johnson didnt make it past the prelim squad thankfully (traitorous cunt)

yeah agree, think welbeck has a long way to go yet! still gutted barry continues to make the squads and the first team, i think he is ridiculously overrated. definitely was struggling to type him up in my predicted formation!

Carroll huh.......

Free Sturridge indeed.

Do italians love Barry that much? The man's been done for so long its laughable.

Would like to see Walker get a start, I may be an Arsenal fan but the kid's done great since January.

Sturridge really hammered the message home with that game, he has been one of the most consistent and best strikers in the PL in 2011 and he deserves to be England's no.2 striker beside Rooney. Welbeck too but I think Sturridge just looks to be technically more comfortable on the ball and always looks unpredictable.

As for England's wingers, I really couldn't care less; just wait another 6 months and get Oxlade-Chamberlaine in and the right wing will be sorted. I trust him to be more threatening, intelligent and technical than Downing, Walcott or Johnson anyway.

I really don't want to get over-excited but it's hard not to when the future England line-up could be:

Hart;
Richards, Jones, Smalling, Baines;
Parker;
Oxlade-Chamberlaine, Wilshere, Young;
Rooney, Sturridge

When you consider the massive ability shown by the youngsters already, it's hard not to get excited about how Jones, Smalling, Wilshere, AOC and Sturridge can do in a few years time. Bring on WC 2014?

depends on how the partnership with rooney goes, as it stands i dont see much between welbeck and sturridge for that spot

So Sagna's busted his leg and Chesney has a back injury huh......meh whatever.

I'll come back in 5-10 years and watch them reborn like Dortmund and Lille last year.

It's too early to be raving about Chamberlain really, and if this is a future England side then Scott Parker wouldn't be anywhere near it IMO. Wilshere will be the deeper player and probably Tom Cleverley the more advanced one. I always thought and hoped Aaron Lennon would be the right winger we were looking for, but it's seemingly unlikely now.

I rate Sturridge and Welbeck quite high, maybe Sturridge slightly better but he's played in a front three rather than with one other striker in every game I've seen him in pretty much. Welbeck has played either alongside Rooney or as a lone striker and scored 5 goals in 8 appearances (5 starts, 3 as a sub, 425 minutes on the pitch).

And in response to Lee's 'Why is Welbeck playing over Sturridge?' I think that's an unfair comparison. Welbeck's form is very good - it should probably be one of the other strikers that Sturridge would replace if he came in, not Welbeck.

Why even say that? I don't think anyone would want Rooney out of the England side. I'd be looking at Andy Carroll and Bobby Zamora...

carroll should partner rooney and rooney should play a false 9 role dropping deep regularly. wingers should be inverted. probably young and downing / adam johnson.

no walcott cause hes pants
