Speak for yourself then, because "my country" doesn't team with anybody just because they're the best, just shows a lot of support to our players in the big leagues in foreign countries. Doesn't make you any cooler to not root for undoubtedly, one of the best teams in the world.

I'm just sick of all the United 'fans' here and it does make me cooler to not support them because i know more about them than the millions here that claim to support them just because it's good for their image or something.

Didn't see the game, but apparently Wigan were the better side. So credit to them.. I've had them down for relegation for so long, they've battled it for so long and always manage to escape. Can they pull it off again? I wouldn't bet against them.

Paul Scholes has to play in every game from now until the end of the season, IMO. I would also like to see us go for a 433, or even bring in Berbatov for a game. Both Welbeck and Hernandez have been off the pace for a few weeks now. I love them both and they have great quality, but at the moment when they're on the pitch it's literally like we're playing with 10 men ._.

Cleverley or Young behind the striker please, it's worth a try now. If we can get a solid lead against Villa or Everton, it'll be easier for Welbeck / Hernandez to come off the bench and have no pressure to score, so maybe they'd suddenly hit some form..

I'm a bit disappointed because this game was the banker. Out of the six we had left, this was the one we should have just gone at and pushed it aside. Good win and move into the last five games eight points clear. Now, one slip up, even a draw, which is entirely possible against Aston Villa, Everton, or Sunderland (away) coupled with a loss to Man City which is just as (if not more) likely could cost us the title. Also, not smashing QPR for five or six when they were down to 10 men for so long could have cost us as well.

I think if United win the title it will because of avoiding defeat away at Man City. If we lose there I'd kind of fancy City to nick it on goal difference. Although they do have tough games away to Norwich and Newcastle, so we'll see how that goes.

I'm just sick of all the United 'fans' here and it does make me cooler to not support them because i know more about them than the millions here that claim to support them just because it's good for their image or something.

I do just want to ask, who are all the Man Utd fans here? The only ones I know are myself and phalanx. I think I'm very reasonable in my comments, but obviously I'm going to think that. I can't really speak 'for' phalanx, but I honestly think he sees red way too much lol. But even disregarding that, we're both in/from Manchester and have supported them all of our lives, as far as I'm aware. I at least have, anyway. I live and work near Old Trafford and have lived here all 23 years of my life. I've only ever supported Man Utd since I was young. Even if we slip off the pace when Fergie leaves and other teams continue to progress, I'll always support my team.

LOL when i said 'here' i meant India. You'd be astonished to see the number of 'United fans' here(90% of our population by estimate,5% are Liverpool,3%Arsenal and the rest are 2).And every other club supporter i've met here are real fans but i only know one real United fan.The rest don't know any other player except maybe Rooney or Nani.

they were the better side, but we had 2 clear penantlies and they scored from a corner that wasn't, puts you in a hard position. especially when you accuse them of ref bribing ;)
Nowich could easily do man city though.
and of course, from manchester, familiy has lived in slaford and supported united at least 2 generations back. so through thick and thin and all that.

why cant we beat city? we have beaten them twice already

I can't decide which annoys me more. Glory supporters are pretty bad, but I think they're a plague I've learnt to live with. Fairweather fans are the absolute bane of my life though.

On a more positive note, it's nice to see that the run in for the end of the season is setting up nicely on the FA cup, and Premier League. Should make for some interesting viewing over the next few weeks. I'm just going to be angered if Spurs manage to piss it all away again.

I think we can beat city too! Also our first team vs spurs was all English born and 9/11 have played league one within the past two seasons. BTW do you guys think Holt should get an England callup he's second Englishman on scoring charts and regularly gives defences many headaches.

it absolutely wreaks of scapegoat - the guy has gone out and brought in the targets that he was asked to using the funds available to him. the owners need to grow a pair and have a word with 'king' kenny if they have a problem with recent transfers because he's come out on record and said that they were all his choices.

i seriously doubt the owners are afraid of sacking kenny if needed. john w henry has actually been accused of being ruthless after sacking boston red sox manager terry francona (manager of 8 years). he was very successful overall and won the world series twice but a run of bad results was enough for him to lose his job.

i think we can all agree that some of the signings have been catastrophic (downing, carroll, henderson) and commoli was responsible. you might say that kenny said that every player that came to liverpool in the summer was his choice, i don't think he really could have answered differently. Kenny had to come out and say they were his signings even if they weren't. If they were Comolli's signings and you sack him for doing a poor job then you're simply telling those players that they are shit

commoli isn't the only one to have been sacked today. there has been about 4 iirc. some are club lawyers and people responsible for the bad handling of the suarez affair. we finally are becoming a club that says "we don't tolerate incompetent decisions" and this is how big clubs work.

Most of them aren't that good but Rooney,Welbeck and Sturridge are as good as it gets.

the fact England's striking options are so poor Grant Holt is actually a legitimate candidate is beyond farcical

this 1000000 times over

also yeah i dislike man united, i kind of had it drilled into from a young age being a leeds united fan living in leeds. then again, im sure many man united fans reciprocate this feeling if they even still remember/care about us!

That is not true, @HBK. I'm a United fan and have been for a long time, and it is not because they are the best, it is because they are a consistent, interesting team with an interesting style of play, that has its ups and downs. And I like their players. I don't know which Indians you've been talking to but a majority of the fans I've met know their stuff. I agree there are still a lot who just support for the fuck of it, but that isn't just United, you get Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea fans like that. You cannot just single United out. Also in regards to Liverpool, it kinda sucks how he's getting fired, although I really can't see Daglish stay in for that long after this season. This was an abysmal performance.

Also, about chelsea:

Opinions?

Also, Havak don't forget me as a United fan ><

Grant Holt for England? Sounds good to me! England have been using a system that has not worked for years. We don't have the type of players that Spain, the Netherlands, Brazil or Argentina have and it's time we accepted that and stop trying to 'outplay' them with Lampard and Barry. However we do have fast wingers and we have some half decent defenders and goalie, Germany has used the counter-attacking system using these types of players to amazing effect.

But England have another trick, we have big men up front! I don't see anything wrong with sticking Rooney and Holt up front and absolutely battering the enemy defence with long balls and quick counter attacks. I am a self professed (and proud! :D) Utd hater but I really admire the way Ferguson sets his teams up. He fills his team with fast, powerful wingers and wing backs, a big man up front along with a pacey one, a solid defence, and calm and skillful central midfielders. This allows his teams to play tippy tappy stuff when they need to, but when the situation calls for it the team can hunker down and start lobbing balls up to the big men and hope for a lucky bounce or flick on (the noob way he beats Arsenal every single fecking time the prick). It's this flexibility that makes Utd so hard to beat.

Rooney and Sturridge/Walcott/Welbeck would be one option for pace, while Rooney and Holt could be another when we just wanna kick the door open. We have Wilshere and Parker in midfield who, imo, could stand toe to toe with any midfield pairing in the world, they will work their socks off and they have great technical ability. Rooney could drop in to help to make the 3 in midfield when we need it. Young, Johnson, Walcott, Sturridge, we have so many fast wingers to use and we have a great keeper. The defence could use a little sorting out but we have great full backs and if the right Terry and Ferdinand show up then it actually looks quite strong.

Bottom line is, we've been trying to play 3 in midfield for too long trying to fit in Barry and Lampard and Gerrard and they are not the type of players to play that system. Wilshere and Parker however is, and we should play to our strengths in having big men up front which few other top nations do. We need to stop playing to our opponents' strengths and including Holt would be a good way to start in my book! Germany have shown how deadly this style could be and we have two big men to take even more advantage of it.

Well i haven't visited every City in our country but what i said is my personal experience and i'm sure there are many more Indian United glory hunters than those of Arsenal,Liverpool and Chelsea put together(from my experience City and Chelsea are hated with a passion,Liverpool don't have glory fans coz they aren't one of the best as of now and Arsenal are have very few too for much of the same reasons). As i said majority of the indians say they support United to look good and feel good about themselves and partly coz Rooney's very popular here(some so called fans haven't even heard of any of his team mates).Or you can go on be adamant and say that it was just by chance that i've seen so many United 'fans' and not a single one of any other club in India.

EDIT:@akuchi How about the fact that Gotze,Cavani and Higuain cost less than Torres? :P

I think the FA really need to name the england maneger now.

Also i honestly believe Man city might snatch the league. The way united played against Wigan they look like they might drop 5 more points and City look like there coming back to form.

somehow I really doubt that Azpilicueta is worth the same amount as Hazard.

I'd say they'll get Cavani, Azpilicueta, and maybe Hulk.

And Germany uses big men? I always thought they used small poachers like Klose and Podolski. Gomez isn't exactly small, but isn't exactly the typical target man either.

johan cruyff and louis van gaal are being lined up as replacements for commoli.

and yes holt should get his england cap. might be a bit embarrassing but there's nobody better

true!

Genius. You learn to hate them when your country is teeming with millions of foolish glory hunters that don't watch most games and don't know anything about United(except the name of a popular player or two) or the Premier League or European football as a whole.

This. This. This. This. This is very true. Every United fan I have known supports it not because he likes it but because "it is the in thing". I have talked to some united "fans" who still don't know that cr7 left 3 years back..There are exceptions but they are only exceptions, not the whole trend.

Topic: You know if united slip up once more, city might still have a chance..

I said Germany doesn't use big men but England can so could add another dimension to that style of play if the situation calls for it.
