12 April 2012
After discussing with the AFC Ajax board of directors, Johan Cruijff has decided to step down from his position on AFC Ajax NV’s Advisory Board, on a date which is still to be determined by the board of directors.
A new Advisory Board needs to be appointed in the short term. In Johan Cruijff’s point of view, this is critical as a period in which decisions about the upcoming season need to be made is coming soon.
At the request of the board of directors, Cruijff remains available for the club in a different role, in order to see through the implementation of his football vision for the club. The board is pleased and will soon be discussing with Cruijff how this role can be fulfilled.

seems very likely that he'll be liverpool's next dof. i'd welcome him with open arms. for the record, he's the guy that made barcelona the force they are today.

Yup Cruyff started the modern Barcelona academy in the early 90s. Took a good 15+ years for the fruits of their labour to pay off though, Liverpool fans be prepared for a long wait. Wenger implemented his youth system in the early 2000s and look what happened to Arsenal. 10 years of "next year the youngsters will step up".

But at least next year the youngsters will step up and we'll start winning everything :D

edit: the official Football D'AWWW Thread-Within-A-Thread 2012 - he scores when he wants :)

except arsenal's system is trash compared to barcelona's.

and the guys (rodolfo borrell and jose segura i think) that coached xavi, fabregas, iniesta, busquets, valdes, puyol and messi are at liverpool now. barcelona tried to get them back last year after we snatched them but thank god they're still here.

Giuseppe Rossi out for the season and consequently for Euro 2012. Big blow to Italy, now they have to rely on..Balotelli (lol).

Even being an Arsenal fan I have no idea how Arsenal's or Barcelona's systems work so I doubt you have much meaningful insight either. Arsenal haven't produced any players from the ground up yet so you can't even make a comparison; Wilshere, Gibbs, Frimpong, Szczesny are the first to emerge out of that crop who have been at Arsenal all their lives. And they aren't exactly doing too badly are they. There's a few making noises out on loan such as Aneke, Afobe, Watt, Yennaris and plenty more playing reserves such as Miquel, Ozyakup, Eastmond, Angha, Gnabry.

Other players such as Fabregas, Toure, Clichy, Van Persie, Song, Walcott etc were bought at a young enough age that most clubs would consider they developed them and those players haven't done too badly either. Oxlade-Chamberlain, Miyaichi, Ramsey et al are the current crop of such players. The most important question of course is how many top young players have Liverpool developed recently? Cryuff and his crew have got a big task ahead of them.

tbh everybody's system is shit when compared to Barca, except maybe Ajax themselves.

Liverpool have some decent kids, Flanagan, Kelly, Spearing are in the first team and I heard Eccleston is highly rated. Also that Spanish kid, was it Suso or Pacheco?

Gotta start somewhere at least.

You can't count Eccleston and Pacheco by Nosferalto's definition because they were signed after 16 years of age. Or else Fabregas, Toure, Clichy etc would count as Arsenal academy players :P

Personally I'm happy with Arsenal's youth system because it has generated a lot of buzz and there genuinely seems to be a number of top players coming through. It took Barcelona 15 years before their current winning team was moulded so Wenger is well on schedule with his crop :)

Can we just all agree that the Dutch were uber geniuses and they started from the 70s to make football a better place by first creating Total Football in Ajax, then the Netherlands squad in the seventies and later, modern modifications which led to the 1995 Ajax team (best team in the world) while Cryuff's coaching phliosophy and all those who grew up with Total Football and the General (best coach evar as confirmed by FIFA) and coached/played at Barecelona which ultimately led to the Tiki-Taka?

I'm just sick of all the United 'fans' here and it does make me cooler to not support them because i know more about them than the millions here that claim to support them just because it's good for their image or something.

It's nice to know that you feel cooler because you know more about soccer than the next guy, but next time you try to call out somebody because they're rooting for a team where somebody from their country is scoring for the team, make sure it's a good reason, and not to feel cool.

Cavani to Chelsea doesn't seem like a bad idea, to be real, it sounds like a better buy than Torres was.

Pique back to United also sounds interesting.

well im going to kill myself. seriously liverpool cant beat anyone but then they go and beat everton, those Nazi wife beating mother fuckers can go and die

if we can manage to win the fa cup along with the carling cup i would consider this season a success. at least carroll looks like a 10m striker atm. let's hope he can reach his actual price tag.

he played really well today but his finishing was a bit poor. i thought his style of play today was a bit like adebayor (linking play up) minus the dribbling ability. though carroll is a monster in the air.

i was actually supporting liverpool today because that win pretty much confirms we'll be playing in Europe next season. yay!

I would concede that point

Serie B player Piermario Morosini from AS Livorno had a heart attack during today's game against Pescara Calcio. He died in the hospital.

Just horrible. After Muamba, this is the second player in a short period who had a heart attack. Unfortunately, Morosini didn't survive.

I wasn't, because they are rubbish and horrible.. still this is probably a stay of execution for King Kenny (or will be if they win the FA) and I'd like that a lot cos they've been every bit as much of a car crash club as blackburn this season really. Shocking to think I was actually really warm to them this time last year, they've totally destroyed any goodwill neutrals had i think. Blackburn has cheered me up though, I'm so wet for Siggurdsson it's actually beyond a joke :x
