2012/2013 Soccer/Football thread

I don't know, every time I watch it I believe more and more that Ivanovic didn't touch him, even though people claim he clipped Young's legs, I just can't see it no matter what angle the cameras show it from. Btw:

"14 December 2007 – Two match touchline ban and fined £5,000 after using abusive and/or insulting words towards Mark Clattenburg"

Well now I can understand why Clattenburg made those decisions..

Wow. Fergie sure showed Mark Clattenburg who's in charge by getting a two match ban.

I'm surprised how anyone here hasn't pointed out that David Gill the United Chief Executive is currently the FA chairman who has been working for the FA since 2006.

Should that even be allowed?

After more than 20 years at the top level, I struggle to believe that Alex Ferguson hasn't made just a few connections at the top of the tree. No matter what area of life, when you're successful you're gonna end up making friends and the longer you're at it the more powerful friends you will have. Maybe it's the Arsenal fan in me talking but Man Utd seem to have gotten so many lucky calls and escapes over the years.

I still remember that away game to Blackpool, where they were trailing 2-0 and Blackpool had a stonewall penalty turned down with the ref standing metres away staring at the incident. Then Man U go on to win 3-2 in an unnaturally extended injury time. This type of thing has happened so many times that it's like a standard anecdote of how a Man Utd match unfolds.

Maybe Ferguson isn't explicitly cheating or bribing officials, but it's hard to believe that there isn't at least some sort of indirect influence. Like if Ferguson says he admires a certain referee during a chat with an FA chairman or whatever. Whether it's referees or some other behind the scenes dealings it's not unreasonable to think that the longest serving and most successful manager in English football might indeed want to leverage the authority and prestige he has gained over the years at the top... It has happened a bit too many times now to be filing it under 'lucky decisions'...

clattenburg should be applauded for having the balls to send somebody off for diving. yeah maybe it wasn't a dive but putting that to one side, that was something i'd like to see more of.

yeah you should hate all liverpool fans because some idiots were celebrating someone else's injury

by your logic, i should assume all swansea fans are drug addict scum and have very low iq scores!

note i specifically said 'all the liverpool fans who i saw celebrating vorms injury'
as in the specific people who did it

not everything is a conspiracy sweetheart :doom:

Young was clipped, he didn't dive.
Clattenburg just had an "o crap" moment when he realised he had already booked torres i think.
but he could have easily gone for the first challange he was booked for, there is no influance, and i'm pretty sure other clubs have people in the FA.

Clattenburg reported to the FA for racially inappropriate language. Bit rich when your captain is suspended for racially inappropriate language but there you go

Typical Man Utd fan. biased and hypocritical.

I heard Howard Webb will referee the next game of Manchester United which is against Arsenal. God save Arsenal.

As much as I don't think he dived, I completely agree here. Looking past this one result hopefully the sending off will discourage diving in the future, and other referees will clamp down on it more. Who am I kidding though...

Also a lot of what NoLuckInvolved rings true; when you've been that successful and working in the same business for that long, you are going to make friends in high up places. It might not be direct but the effects are clearly there.

Except United have had thier fair share of crap from the FA over the years.
biased and hypocritical?
how is that the case?
every time united get some descisions going for them it is FA bias or ref bribing, plenty of teams have had descisions go for them, nothing gets said it happens move on.
and lets just look at the descisions, i have seen the replays
1. Torres lucky to be on the pitch for the first foul - even MOTD said so
2. the "dive" for his second yellow, there is contacti, as i already said, but he gos down easiliy and after the contact starting with the leg that wasn't caught, from the angle the ref was looking at it from, it was a dive
3. Ivanovic - he consults the linesman who had a better view to get the CORRECT descision
4. the offside was a hard one to see to be fair. and that was the linesman

and United bribe officials with what exactly? loan debt?

United get thier fair share of bullshit descisions, and did last season so drop the conspiracies, the FA has nothing to do with it.

How didn't I see it? How didn't anyone see it but you? Clattenburg sent off torres for the sake of football! What a good man he is. bless him

lmao. this is same guy that allegedly racially abused mikel and called mata a spanish twat.

if torres dived then young did the same. the contact was minimal in both but if he considered the first to be a foul then the second should be as well.

EDIT: another call he got completely wrong was booking valencia for "diving". the contact with mikel was evident but he bottled it and didn't give mikel a second yellow because he knew how much fucked up before.

there wa smore contact on young, find the replay that shows it from behind.
Torres, went down AFTER the foul, and he went down using the leg there was no contact with first. so it looked liked one, so it was his own fault in some ways.
so whether it was or wasn't isn't the issue, Torres made it look like a dive.

I couldn't believe the valencia one, that was clearly not a dive. mkel ran right across Valencia blocking his run, that was clear.
and did the ref not consult his linesman on the young one?

In this vid you can clearly lip read what clattenburg says to Mata. "I know you're a twat but it's not my fault". I was trying to look for spanish twat that was reported in the media but I'd say this is more likely to be what was said.

lol @ the media immediately assuming it's racist abuse when mikel is involved.

The Ivanovic foul was a yellow at best;there is hardly any contact on Young and even if he did bring him down Young hadn't even touched the ball yet so you can't really call it a clear goalscoring opportunity. Not to mention he had Cahill right next to him meaning he would have to go for Cech's near post with his weaker foot which would either go wide,be blocked by Cahill's potential tackle or promptly saved by Cech who was right there.

The Torres foul was absolute bullshit;it might seem like Torres went down easily but he moved very fast after poking the ball past Evans so even the slightest of contact would be enough to bring him down and even then what's in it for him? Is he going to get a penalty? No. Is he going to get Evans sent off? No. Why would go down on purpose when he had the pace to reach that ball threaten the united defence? FYI,Evans initially denied making any contact with Torres but eventually admitted it after watching the replay after the game.

And ofcourse, there's the offside goal that was given.Hernandez was the last man standing before the goal line:He was behind the fucking GK! This is fucking nonsense and if any united fan has even the slightest bit of respect for football and themselves then they will accept that united did not deserve to win. That being said,as shameful as it is,your words seem to reflect that you thought it was a fair result, phalanx. You can go on about how often United have been the victims of erraneous refereeing in the past but none of those decisions have been this disgustingly inaccurate.I have nothing else to say.

interesting article to read.

this is what i meant by corruption. i never said referees are bribed or whatever

they're human after all and want to move up the ranks, just like any ambitious person. they want to referee in the premier league, especially in the big games. they know that if they fuck up against man utd, fergie will make sure they referee in league 2.

there is something terribly wrong with everything involving referees in this league. This has been going on for a very long time and I just can't consider it a coincidence anymore. it was too much for me to take this weekend after seeing the contrast between the decisions given to liverpool and the ones given to man utd.

there is a reason liverpool do not get descisions, and his name is Suarez
and i get the "it's not your fault" part but not the first part.
to be honest that match with chelsea where Atkinson reffed, he had a shocker. and he did it 2 seasons in a row IN THE SAME FIXTURE.
2 losses to chelsea at stamford bridge when they get descisions from Atkinson, which make the loss happen, obvious fix.
it is complete crap, tbh.
there IS something wrong with refereeing, its shit, it is shit for everyone, but there is no way it is a fix in uniteds favour not 1 bit.

last time I checked Nani and young aren't racisits, or play dirty
oh and.
refs favour united... this states otherwise
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...-survey-highlights-Premier-League-errors.html
yes i read the article. what point does it make? it doesnt look at the bigger picture just refs and united, nothing to do with anything else, no mistakes at other matches nothing.
Atkinson reffed Chelsea v united in 2 successive seasons and EACH time chelsea got the descisions. i could just say there you go corrupt. tha article is looking at 2 things, and ignoring everything else. just to claim something.

and here is a bit more Clattenburg stuff
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/revealed-details-of-mark-clattenburg-vs-1407304
stuff that happened in the referees room AFTER the game.

i'm pretty sure being a notorious diver constitutes being a dirty player. seriously though, can you at least try to be a teensy bit impartial when posting, it's getting kind of old
