I dunno maybe I just have nostalgic memories and I was probably more easily entertained when I was younger but WC98 was amazing with Turkey and Croatia and Czech Republic and I remember Iran doing well or at least I thought they were cool. And Brazil and France of course! And England and Argentina! And WC2002 was great cos of Korea and Japan doing well, and Ireland!!! And Brazil were something else that year. The last two just haven't lived up to expectations for me, I didn't even think Uruguay was that exciting or Spain or the Netherlands or Brazil... Ghana was great to watch though probably my only highlight from the last one, and England was just pure poo maybe that's why I didn't enjoy it.

Korea "doing well"

dis you bro?

thought this was appropriate to shade and viperdk1 discussion earlier

Bet they're pleased Warnock is out of the running for the manager's job then xD

From what I'm aware of, they're apparently willing to pay compensation to Preston for former Leeds and Huddersfield manager Simon Grayson. Should be fun if that happens >>;

Nope.

Group A: Brazil, Croatia, Mexico, Cameroon.

Group B: Spain, Holland, Chile, Australia.

Group C: Colombia, Greece, Ivory Coast, Japan.

Group D: Uruguay, Costa Rica, England, Italy.

Group E: Switzerland, Ecuador, France, Honduras

Group F: Argentina, Bosnia, Iran, Nigeria.

Group G: Germany, Portugal, Ghana, USA

Group H: Belgium, Algeria, Russia, South Korea.

...2am UK time in 99% humidity. Oh dear lord why. >>;

Group A: Brazil, Croatia, Mexico, Cameroon - Brazil obviously and Croatia unless Mexico gets Vela to play. If Vela plays then get rekt.

Group B: Spain, Holland, Chile, Australia - Sick group, Australia is fucked. I can see either of the rest advancing, but im going to bet on Spain and Chile, Vidal to carry.

Group C: Colombia, Greece, Ivory Coast, Japan - Colombia and Ivory Coast.

Group D: Uruguay, Costa Rica, England, Italy - IDK why this is called the group of death when groups B and G are so much better. Italy and Uruguay.

Group E: Switzerland, Ecuador, France, Honduras - Ecuador and France.

Group F: Argentina, Bosnia, Iran, Nigeria - Why does Argentina always get fucking easy groups holy shit. Argentina and Nigeria.

Group G: Germany, Portugal, Ghana, USA - Germany and Portugal although I can see Ghana and USA beating Portugal.

Group H: Belgium, Algeria, Russia, South Korea - Belgium and Russia.

Group A: Brazil, Croatia, Mexico, Cameroon.
Brazil is one of the favourites to win the whole thing so I don't think they will have any problems getting out.

Group B: Spain, Holland, Chile, Australia.
End of the Cycle for Spain imo, especially with this hard draw for them. Chile has real quality and a definable could see them winning the group. If the qualifying Holland show up and not the Euro 12 Holland show up then i could see them getting the edge over spain.

Group C: Colombia, Greece, Ivory Coast, Japan.
Colombia are the best team in this group and will qualify easily.

Group D: Uruguay, Costa Rica, England, Italy.
Italy will find a way to get out of the group, even when Costa rica and England(to a lesser extent) park the bus. Suarez and Cavani, That is all.

Group E: Switzerland, Ecuador, France, Honduras.

Group F: Argentina, Bosnia, Iran, Nigeria. Argentina got a nice draw.

Group G: Germany, Portugal, Ghana, USA.
Portugal aren't that good. Their play-style does counter Germany's so that will be interesting. EDIT: Yeah changed my mind Ghana to finish second.

Group H: Belgium, Algeria, Russia, South Korea.
Russia and Belgium better take advantage of that group.

A: Brazil, Croatia, Mexico, Cameroon
Assuming Mexico is gonna get their shit together...

B: Spain, Netherlands, Chile, Australia
Tough draw for the 3 non-Australia teams. One's going home. I'm gonna go off of Euro 12 and take a guess it's Netherlands, though they've played great recently and I'm a fan.

C: Colombia, Greece, Ivory Coast, Japan
But any of these 3 could easily come in second after Colombia

D: Uruguay, Costa Rica, England, Italy
Uruguay wasn't super impressive in qualification, but Suarez and Forlan are not gonna fail to get out of group. Italy can find a way to win this group. England hasn't looked too great recently and I doubt they'll like the Brazil weather.

E: Switzerland, Ecuador, France, Honduras
This will produce the weakest winner of the bunch, whoever it is. Ecuador plays well in Ecuador (at altitude) and not so great anywhere else, so I think they'll be upset. It's not gonna be Honduras, so by default France and Switzerland.

F: Argentina, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iran, Nigeria
Should be easy for Argentina, but with Messi's health, you never know.

G: Germany, Portugal, USA, Ghana
Germany will win this group unless they choke. Portugal is not as good as many people think and I think it's time the US gets over its Ghana problem. We're a better team now than we've ever been and I think we find a way to sneak in, maybe just on goal differential.

H: Belgium, Algeria, Russia, South Korea
Russia has this easily, since I just don't see Belgium beating Russia. Belgium should skate through as the second place team unless they choke under the pressure of not playing in a World Cup in a while.

Group A: Brazil, Croatia, Mexico, Cameroon- Cant see brazil getting less than 9 points, not that obvious who else will advance, but croatia is the next best team on paper

Group B: Spain, Holland, Chile, Australia. Holland aren't the team they were in 2010.

Group C: Colombia, Greece, Ivory Coast, Japan.

Group D: Uruguay, Costa Rica, England, Italy.

Continuing the theme of South American teams winning lots of games.

Group E: Switzerland, Ecuador, France, Honduras.

Group F: Argentina, Bosnia, Iran, Nigeria.

Group G: Germany, Portugal, Ghana, USA The most interesting group by far. Ghana has improved from 2010 and have talented players in every position except Goal Keeper. The USA defense is going to be routed by the teams in this group so the 2nd spot will be for portugal or ghana. The team that can get a draw against germany will get 2nd place. Mildly related, Ghana and Germany advanced from the same group in 2010 as well. Also Boateng vs Boateng action when ghana plays germany.

Group H: Belgium, Algeria, Russia, South Korea.

Not going to be convinced by belgium until they get to the round of 8.

Group A: Brasil, Croatia, Mexico, Cameroon.

Really easy group for Brasil, by the looks of it. The second place is a bit tougher, I don't particularly like some of the Croatians' attitudes (see Šimunić and the crowd) so I'm gonna go with Mexico because it apparently improved with the change of coach. Could be anyone, though (it's sad that we won't have a third Argentina-Mexico in round of 16 consecutive)

Group B: Spain, Netherlands, Chile, Australia.

The Netherlands isn't the same as in 2010, but neither is Spain. If I were to judge them but their recent results, I'd have to say the Netherlands and Chile are a bit better right now. It could obviously change, but for now I'm gonna go with another Brasil-Chile round of 16 game, although I think Vidal and Sánchez might tip the scale for Chile.

Group C: Colombia, Greece, Ivory Coast, Japan.

Pekerman's Colombia has been doing really well with Falcao and James so I don't see that changing at first. I'll have to lean for Ivory Coast in second place, although Japan could very well achieve again.

Group D: Uruguay, Costa Rica, England, Italy.

Ohh boy. I honestly don't know what to say here and this is probably the most even one. Being forced to disregard Costa Rica (sorry ticos!), none of the rest are really much better than the others and haven't been playing well in general. I'll have to go with Uruguay and Italy, but if England improves it can definitely beat this group so I'm not sold. It's sad that we'll be losing one world champion right at the first round.

Group E: Switzerland, Ecuador, France, Honduras.

Ehh Ecuador has some good players but without Chucho Benítez its attack lost a lot of offensive presence. France qualified again with a goal that shouldn't have been allowed, but it still has chances to prove that it deserved to be in Brasil. I'm gonna go with France and Switzerland here.

Group F: Argentina, Bosnia, Iran, Nigeria.

This group's probably the easiest one, we got lucky again from the matchups (although to be fair, both the 2002 and the 2006 ones were really hard, as opposed to 1994, 1998, and 2010; come on now, even with Serbia and Montenegro's split it was a good team that got caught up in the circumstances back home). Nigeria isn't bad, but Bosnia has some really great players and I think they'll be able to achieve here. They'll need to improve a lot in defense, though.

Group G: Germany, Portugal, Ghana, USA.

OK I have no doubt Germany will win this one, but the second place is much harder. Portugal had a bad qualy but Ronaldo is Ronaldo is Ronaldo. Ghana played well both of the World Cups it was in and Kevin-Prince Boateng has broad enough shoulders to carry the team on his back. USA has Klinsmann as coach which could help against Germany, but it's probably the weakest overall. I'll go with Ghana here, but it'll be an interesting group nonetheless.

Group H: Belgium, Algeria, Russia, South Korea.

I honestly lost track of how South Korea was doing so I don't know if it's still the same solid team it proved to be. Belgium was lucky to be seeded by the FIFA ranks (as opposed to, say, Italy or the Netherlands) and its group isn't all too complicated, so I'm going with it and Russia. Not really sure how this could turn out, though.

That would leave some interesting games for the round of 16, for sure. And we might have another Argentina-Germany in quarterfinals!

Everyone always writing off Portugal yet in the last 15 years have always done extremly well in major tournaments.

Uruguay are gonna go far I think England can make it out of that group at Italy's expense. Its inevitable that Suarez will put 3 goals against England or kick someone and then get shit on in the English Media.

At least Messi can get a few world cup goals, that group is setup for a repeat of the last two world cups. Argentina beating everyone 6-0, getting over hyped everyone betting on them winning, then getting completly outplayed and knocked out by one of the real contenders a Germany, Spain or Brazil.

Netherlands gonna flop just like at the Euros, Russia is gonna get killed by the Weather

A: Brazil Croatia? ( no idea for this 2nd place)

B: Spain Chile

C: Colombia Japan

D: Uruguay England

E: France Switzerland

F: Argentina Nigeria

G: Germany Portugal

H: Belgium South Korea

Group A: Brazil, Croatia, Mexico, Cameroon - croatia vs cameroon is a tough call, going with my gut on croatia though

Group B: Spain, Holland, Chile, Australia - My slightly off pick for the tournament... I actually really like the way chile's playstyle matches up with spains, and think they have a good chance to beat them. The only thing that would really muddy the waters if that happens would be a holland iwn over chile, which would give a 3-way tie for first...

Group C: Colombia, Greece, Ivory Coast, Japan - Not really too much to say here, i like this group though because its one of the most balanced, so all the games should be somewhat close

Group D: Uruguay, Costa Rica, England, Italy - Agreeing with rey that this group is way overhyped... not particularly high on italy for next year and england are only average.

Group E: Switzerland, Ecuador, France, Honduras - pretty straight forward, i could see any of the top 3 going in most any order though.

Group F: Argentina, Bosnia, Iran, Nigeria - bosnia vs nigeria really the only interesting match of this entire group...

Group G: Germany, Portugal, Ghana, USA - I am officially declaring this a tie for second, I honestly have no clue how the us is going to do against portugal. If we had a RM who could help out back on ronaldo and coentrao some, i'd really like our chances, but zusi just isn't that kind of player so im really not sure, i'd be interested to see someone else playing rm here, although im not sure who to plug in (perhaps fabian johnson?.. awkward considering hes left footed but probably the best defensive winger we could play)

Group H: Belgium, Algeria, Russia, South Korea - really weak group overall, not much to say...
