5th Gen PRNG Help / Info - Latest: RNG Reporter 9.96.5, PPRNG 1.15.0

If you haven't found your parameters yet that means you have to start the game with any ID you get, but later on you can restart and abuse your ID/SID.

You actually don't need to abuse your ID because even if you don't you can still find some shiny PIDs. But abusing your ID almost guarantees that you'll get shiny PIDs.

Here's the guide for abusing your ID/SID but I think it won't explain it well enough unless you have experience with 5th gen. RNG.

PERFECT, thank you! I didn't know the guide had been converted to that format yet :)
I've RNGed on Black before, so I have some parameters. I know they'll change between games, but I've got a rough idea :)
EDIT: Try to re-calibrate my White (lost old params), but get very odd results?
I'm starting my game at 5 seconds, and starting the battle at around 44/45 seconds. I'm using MetalKid's IV Checker to get the IVs. Checked the MAC address.
It just seems that 31 actual seconds and timer0 C68 isn't normal/right? Also, I tried the params from the example in the tutorial, and nothing came up.
Maybe they are right, and I'm being silly, but I don't want to waste time with false numbers!

Hey everyone. I'm trying to calibrate my entralink abuse.

The one issue I'm having is my eontimer is being strange. The first time I used it, it said that I should be waiting two minutes, which I think is standard, correct? Now it says that the total time elapsed should be about 50 seconds, without setting back any minutes. I put my calibration as -195, my target delay as 1730 and my target seconds as 53. Both boxes are clicked (C-gear and high link)

The results are: First timer is 20:82, minutes before target is 0, and second timer is 27:22. Is this wrong? Because the other time, the results were radically different, and I'm not finding any results with this timer.

If you're starting at 5 seconds, that means your actual second should be 5 or 6. It's strange that it turned out to be 31 (btw the time you started the battle doesn't matter). If you want to be on the safe side try again and see what you get. And make sure you enter the whole mac address (I'm sure you did, but make sure because I made the same mistake a while ago xD).

There's nothing wrong with Eon Timer, the timer is correct :P I just plugged in the same numbers on my Eon Timer and the same thing came up. The timer is pretty short because a delay of 1730 is relatively low (but possible). Good luck!

How do I RNG for flawless, shiny starters? I've tried googling, but honestly nothing relevant comes up.

You maybe didn't search right, but anyway, there are some RNG guides here, 3rd gen, 4 gen, or 5 gen.

And if you've never RNGed before, I'd recommend doing non-shiny first, easy practice.

Hey guys, I found a shiny seed for fishing that gave shininess to pokemon with encounter slot 3. I hit my seed and advance my frame but I get shiny basculin instead of feebas. Also, I'm standing on a spot where I encountered a feebas

Are there any other shiny frames on that seed? There are NPCs on that Route (I'm assuming you're on Route 1, because that's the only place Feebas is found) so maybe you accidentally advanced to a different frame. But I'm sure you would've noticed that yourself. When you found the seed in the timer finder, the encounter type was fishing, right? If so then I have no idea what to tell you, sorry. :/

It was fishing. I get an error about a synch not working when it shows that it should work when searching shaking grass seeds

Sorry, you might have to find another seed :( Or there's probably something I'm stupidly missing, but I don't think there is. It might just be that RNG Reporter's fishing slots are wrong.

Try another water spot seed if you can find one. The sync not working happened to me once as well, but I found a different seed and the sync worked for that one. And I caught my Feebas with a water spot and I didn't run into any problems with the slots.

I found one at last :D Thanks

And another quick question: once I find my DS Parameters, I'll never have to re-do it again, right? Even if I delete and start over a new save file?

Parameters are tied to the hardware, so starting a new game won't affect anything. But Timer0 likes to be a little bitch, so you never know what's going to happen with that.

I tried to breed a shiny brave roggenrola w/ flawless IVs everywhere but speed and sp. atk., but no luck thus far, as I saw failure after failure after failure on the RNGs... I remember(sort of) perfecting 4th gen RNGing, but that was a long time ago, not to mention that roggenrola did not exist back then...

Using the latest version of Reporter:

seed: 8BBCA79D32274016
TID: 05122
SID: 36709
MAC Address: 0017AB9DC105

...So far, I keep getting no shininess and the wrong nature and/or wrong IVs. The most recent of my rng failures is one with a brave nature, but once again, no shininess, and wrong IVs...

Intended frame was 81...

Unless I'm mistaken, I think it's because of failure to recognize my SSF, as I thought that the shifted starting frame is the frame on the bottom where the seed Elm calls and flips are, and added to the PIDRNG initial, but I don't know if I thought wrong, but did I? Do I need to alter my ingame actions in some currently unknown fashion to get my SSF? I tried one chatter, then two, no luck on SSF... Is it in a pattern at some point after a certain frame? Or are the NPCs hindering the finding of my SSF???

Seed Information

^ Can anyone help me solve my difficulties? Does anyone know why I'm not getting a shiny from RNG?

Well, since the above post, a lot of discoveries in terms of the RNG manipulation process made the above seed a negative in terms of whether or not actually finding shines under that same aforementioned seed is possible. Sure, unless I'm mistaken, parts of this make it fit for the RNG Research thread rather than this thread, but since this is a "to clarify that my problem's solved" kind of post, might as well post it in this thread...

After trial and error, I found that nothing was going my way, so I decided to re-find parameters in hope for a different timer0 that could better my chances of finding my dream roggenrola, but even when I found that I had the wrong timer0 value previously, meaning I had to find a different seed, it wasn't until after days of trying to get help, even going as far as downloading mIRC and going to the smogonwifi IRC channel, and one night of disappointment afterwards, that I realized, unless I'm mistaken, that the game locks up the starting seed one-and-a-half seconds after you trigger the boot sequence by pressing A on the DS menu, and that, unless I'm mistaken, "the SSF is not random for every seed: it is a result of initial PID frame plus a value dependent on PID-adjusting variables, such as"one PIDRNG advancement per 17 player-initiated steps that don't include turning but not taking a step afterward", "1 PIDRNG advancement per step that NPCs commit, including those from the two NPC pokemon behind the fence to the right of the day care when treated as one NPC, meaning when those two pokemon take one step each, the PIDRNG advances by one rather than two, since they're treated as one NPC", and "one PIDRNG advancement for speaking to anyone, including the day-care man that gives you the egg", among other factors". And on the brink of the night after the above realization, on a different seed, I finally hatched my flawless-in-two-thirds-of-six-stat-areas shiny brave roggenrola! Thank you, Smogon!

I understand all the advancements, etc. I one shot flawless Pokemon eggs and got all my legends flawless (except in their special attack or attack).

I got a flawless ditto from my friend, but I want to make my own. I don't understand how he got a seed for a 31/31/31/31/31/31 Ditto. How do you get such a seed?

I mean, I've found a flawless seed like on the 9k frame in the time finder under method 5 standard seed...encounter type: Wild Pokemon. But, that's it. Where do I get my seed?

Just search for it in Time Finder with 1 or 2 Keypresses and your alternate Timer0

3 keypresses will give you the most results by far. You also might need to search multiple months - I got a hexflawless seed for Virizion with no keypresses, but I had to search through about four years to find it.

There's usually at least one hexflawless seed a month with 3 Keypresses

Oh yeah, sorry for being such a newbie and asking so much basic questions.

Now my Timer0 is alternating between two values, C7E and C7F. I get the same Gurdurr on C7E, but the next time I hard load, it changes to Boldore on C7F, and it alternates every time like C7E, C7F, C7E, C7F. It's been like that for hours x_x

One time, getting C7F, a Cubchoo popped up (when it was supposed to be Boldore). I thought it was supposed to be the same pokemon everytime (for calibration) as long as Timer0 is the same?

Yes, and no. Yes, it's the same pokemon every time, but no, that doesn't mean your actions can't affect the outcome: although you can't control timer0, Reporter can lie at times, and just because RNG tells you a certain value, whether timer0, frame, whatever, doesn't mean that your timer0 is final, nor that you'll hit exactly the same pokemon every time on same second: a half-second is all it takes to see a different outcome...

What you can do about the fluctuation is, pick one of the timer0 values you got on calibration, use it on time finder until you either capture or hatch your desired pokemon, and every time you don't get what you wish for, check target pokemon frame, closest-to-actual given pokemon frame, number of chatters performed, %F(Percentage of pokemon in one dex number that are female)column on closest-to-actual frame row, and inheritance column on same frame row, and compare the two to what you really got. If you know you hit the right time plus the correct half-second, but the number of chatters performed obviously do not make the current frame at the time the obtained pokemon was generated close to equal that of the close-to-actual frame given by Reporter then...

...assuming you got it on same second-and-half as attempted seed, recalibrate and find your other timer0 value, and repeat the time finder process, and hopefully, you'll get it. If you missed the boot time, then try again and again until you either get your wish(in which case you can celebrate), or find out that the timer0 value you got is responsible for misfortune(in which case, unless you want to give up on the RNG idea, you might want to re-calibrate and find an alternate timer0 that you could use instead of the previously-used one, and find a different seed to use as a result of the alt)...

I have two questions:

First: What's the encounter slot I should use for fishing in a bubble spot? Fishing or Subble Spot?

Second: I've read P2 Laboratory is a WNPC free area, but I the water spot appears in different places everytime (yes, I'm taking the same steps everytime).

Does not releasing your roamer mess up things? I somehow passed the old lady that tells you the story of Thunderus and then you see it get released.

I asked this because when I was getting flawless Ditto's in the Chasm, the seeds were WAY OFF for the encounter slots (I had to basically guess and check with chatters). Or do you think the fact I haven't even caught Kyurem messed it up (since I was in the chasm)?

Will this affect my breeding rng?

Also, for entralink RNG do you need to calibrate like you do for normal rng or do you just need the MAC address?

Also, i can go in the forest and capture other DW pokemon there instead of the one I want to RNG and it wont mess up anything, right? Then, I can just go back later and RNG it?

And, finally, does it matter if you are entralink RNGing a Pokemon when there are other Pokemon around that you haven't caught?

If you're starting at 5 seconds, that means your actual second should be 5 or 6. It's strange that it turned out to be 31 (btw the time you started the battle doesn't matter). If you want to be on the safe side try again and see what you get. And make sure you enter the whole mac address (I'm sure you did, but make sure because I made the same mistake a while ago xD).

Tried it again, and started at 15, but got actual 16 seconds, so that's fine.
This was for my copy of White, but if I try and abuse for IDs in Black on the safe DS, can I use these same variables? I know they vary, but I though they were DS Parameters, not game? :)
