5th Gen PRNG Help / Info - Latest: RNG Reporter 9.96.5, PPRNG 1.15.0

I've been at this RNG business for about 9 hours now trying to get a timid Latios with HP fire on my japanese Black 2 cart. However I'm getting absolutely nowhere. I can't seem to pin down what my starting frame is supposed to be as the natures and IV spreads I'm seeing on the catches I make are as random as if I'd simply been soft resetting.

Sorry if I'm unable to give any useful information but I really am stumped by this. I can't figure out whether I'm missing the seed, counting from the wrong starting frame or what.
The IVs are likely different every time because your Timer0 keeps changing. Ignore any natures you get when the IVs are wrong, they won't help you at all. Are you at least seeing the same IV spreads repeat sometimes?

Not totally sure what you're saying. Are you saying that the third Chatot pitch does not match what is displayed in RNG Reporter?

When you say shifted frame, are you talking about the first frame you hear indicated by the Chatot pitch? If that is frame 73 then you are probably not going to be able to hit frame 76, because the time between when you use Sweet Scent and when you actually encounter the Pokémon will probably contain more than 3 PID advancements (judging by how many occur between the seasons screen and your start menu).

Wait, Sweet Scent skips frames also???
I assume that my starting frame is at 73 based on my the Pokemon I find in the first 3 Chatot cries I hear on my screen.

When I make my first Chatot Cry, and I assume that I hit Frame 74, since when I Sweet Scent I encounter a Timid Staryu with ability 0 (Illuminate).

Then I make my second Chatot Cry, Sweet Scent and assume I hit Frame 75 because I encounter a Timid Staryu with ability 1 (Natural Cure).

Now when I make my 3rd Chatot Cry, I naturally assume that I have hit Frame 76, the frame I'm seeking for, which is suppose to be a Shiny Timid Staryu with Natural Cure; however, when I Sweet Scent this time, I am sadly deceived.

Instead, I keep encountering a Bashful Female Frillish with ability 0 (Water Absorb) which is said that I'm suppose to encounter this on Frame 78.

So, when I go to do my 3rd Chatot Cry and Sweet Scent, I skip Frames 76 and 77 and I go from frame 75 to 78.

What can I do to hit frame 76?

Hi guys,

I always used to RNG on my white game, but lately it won't succeed anymore. I know that my parameters are good (from earlier), but when I want to RNG wild Pokémon I have problems with the reporter. When I use the PIDRNG method from gen 5 for searching for seeds I won't get information on IV's, only on
FULL SEED
FRAME
PID
ENCOUNTER SLOT
!!!
NATURE
ABILIT
GENDER
DATE/TIME
KEYPRESSES

It seems that I'm doing something wrong after entering my callibration information. The error should be in the process what I do with the Time Finder of gen 5. Could someone plainly explain me the true steps for this version? or how I can make sure that IV's are part of the results again with PIDRNG?

Please PM me if you have an answer (you can answer here but notify me please)

But how can you RNG perfects then? If you have to use 2 different methods for both IV's and Nature/Shiny/gender/ability?

Thought it always went a lot easier before?

Oh wait. Are you searching for some seeds?
I thought you want to check the seed.

OK if you'll search for seeds, use the IVs (Standard Seed) as the Method, then select the appropriate Encounter Type, IVs, and all the necessary attributes, before pressing Generate.

and if you have a result? what do you have to do with the normal screen (not the timefinder)? I really need a refreshing xD yeah I'm searching for seeds.

When trying to rng a dw pokemon in the entralink on pokemon white 2 how do i go about setting up eon timer for a specific nature? I have the standard seed i just need to know how to setup eon timer. thanks

If there are moving NPCs in the area, they continue moving during the Sweet Scent animation. Since their movement is dictated by the RNG (which is why they advance the frame), they may move differently depending on what frame you stop on. If you find that your target frame is skipped over like that, you can try letting the NPCs move around a bit and then saving again, which will make them start differently and advance the frame in a different pattern, hopefully allowing you to hit your target.

Oh, well since they seem to be moving the frame as I Sweet Scent do you think it's best if after two Chatot cries I should just come out of the start menu and quickly back in then Sweet Scent?
I'm doing this in Humilau town, those wretched swimmers.
Maybe I should switch to Undella?

I don't recall if there's moving NPCs in Undella, but it certainly wouldn't hurt to try.

Yeah I'm seeing some of the same spreads coming up. It does seem to be my timer0 that's messing things up. After more testing it seems to fluctuate quite a lot. While trying for one seed I've seen it go as high as 1108 and as low as 1101. Most of the time it falls somewhere between 1103 and 1107. Annoying to say the least, especially since, as the first post was keen to point out, you cannot control your timer0.

Yeah, it's ridiculously annoying sometimes, but aiming for your most common one (or one of the most common) will help out quite a bit.

Use IV frame 25. As for getting a specific nature, iirc natures are borked in Reporter right now.

You might have to choose from frames 27-30 also, because it's inevitable you'll be running (and having the chance to trip the 128-step cycle) to encounter the mon.

Minimum is 27 because for the 2 Chatots to check if you hit Timer0.
Maximum is 30 because you must have at most 5 mons if you don't wanna go to the PC to check the nature of your caught entralink mon.

I'm having a hard time trying to rng my entralink arceus. I checked the ivs and put it into the RNG reporter to find my delay hit, but there is no result for the ivs I have. Is my Timer0 fluctuating or should I try a higher frame? I've been using frame 21 on RNG reporter.

I'm guessing you're tripping the step counter, since it's all the way in the deepest clearing. Figure out what IV frame you're hitting, then find a seed for it.

Timer0 won't have any affect on the IVs. You should expand the Seed to Time search to frames 21 to (21 + amount of Pokémon in the party) and you should be able to find your result. If you are tripping the step counter, load your save, walk about 50 steps, then save. Then you'll be able to get your frame 21 IVs. Eventually... Good luck. ^_^

Ok guys, I'm trying my hand at pRNG abuse again. I'm using a DS Lite, a black 2 cart, and I've done my calibration. Timer0:1104-1108, Vframe: 82, Vcount: 6. I found I had to check the memory link box to get consistent numbers (i've used the unova link to transfer keys, and downloaded wifi wonder cards). I am now trying to RNG for IV's only (starting point in the guides i've read) but sadly I have no stationaries left on this cart. I decided to try for the last victory road cave; we all know how great this cave is. Since this is mostly just practice, I don't mind a random boldore. My problem is, i do not seem to be hitting my seed. I've been avoiding seeds that involve L and R button presses, as my DSL is one of those with the finicky L and R buttons. I've selected to try for a physical flawless set, unchecked the shiny box, set the date ranges from 8/1/2013-8/28/2013, have none, one, and two button press boxes checked, and left everything else alone. My delay is one second, so i've been pressing A one second before my target time. My target date is 2013/8/2, my target time is 01:06:50, so 01:06:49 is my actual time. My button presses are Up-Lf + A, so I've been holding down up and left on the D-pad, and the a button, after pressing a once to start the game, hold them until the white logo screen appears. the Timer0 is 1106, which was the most common timer0 i found during calibration, and I have tried at least 10 times, but I'm still getting random IV spreads. I'm using metalkid's iv calculator to check the IV's of the poke's i've been finding, since i only have a limited number of rare candies to adjust level for narrowing iv possibilities. Honestly, I have no idea what I am doing incorrectly. Would someone be so kind as to help me?

Boldore - #525 (Careful)
Female (♀) Sturdy
HP: 18 - 19
Att: 20 - 21
Def: 1 - 2
SpA: 5 - 6
SpD: 28
Speed: 12 - 13

I've gotten this same spread twice now, with the target being flawless with an 8 in special attack. Obviously im consistently hitting A seed, just not the right one.

Given that that Arceus is always located in the third clearing (unless sent back to deepest), it might be best to search for a frame higher than 21.

I am wondering if it is still possible to rng starters. I could have sworn that I read before that you could, but now that I am looking for a guide to do so, everything that I find has to do with using the c-gear or GTS or something that would not allow starters to be manipulated. So was it just changed for gen 5, or am I not understanding things correctly?

It's still possible (using the Gift encounter type). The problem is that you have no way to reliably advance the frame without cheating, so you have to count on the NPCs and a lot of trial and error to get to your target. And of course you have to RNG your ID/SID first just like in previous generations.
