Hello, we all know the annoying Assist Liepard set. For anyone who doesn't know, look here: http://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/a-cat-is-fine-too.3488669/
Well, gen 6 has just added an even more annoying cat. Prepare yourself for Meowstic (M)!

The Team
gourgeist-small.png

Gourgeist-Small @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Frisk
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Jolly Nature
- Trick
- Thief
- Protect
- Destiny Bond

My Lead when the opponent may have any Spore user in his team. The scarfed Trick is always helpful to cripple one of the enemy Pokemon. Pay attention to Megas because you can't switch their mega stones. After it has done its job, it tries to take a Pokemon down with Destiny Bond. Its speed helps to archive that goal pretty easily. Thief and protect are actually just filler moves. But you may find a use sometimes. And if you didn't sacrifice it to activate destiny bond, you can use it as a spin blocker.

noivern.png

Noivern @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 HP / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Whirlwind
- Thief
- Protect
- Switcheroo

My other high speed (Item switcher) lead and the Pokemon who has Whirlwind. Crippling one Pokemon isn't enough? Then just cripple another one with this awesome bat. It is useless after it switched its item thought, so feel free to sacrifice him to safe your ditto.

wobbuffet.png

Wobbuffet @ Leftovers
Ability: Shadow Tag
EVs: 28 HP / 232 Def / 248 SDef
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Counter
- Mirror Coat
- Destiny Bond
-

Ahh, good old Wobbuffet. It is sad that you can't have encore on Assist/Whirlwind teams. Nevertheless it never fails to kill at least one of the opponents Pokemon. And you know whats awesome? If you happen to switch a choice scarf to a Pokemon that attacked with a damaging move, switch to this dude and trap him. If you managed to switch both choice scarfs, you should have no problem killing both of them with Wobbuffets mighty Shadow Tag. With a little bit luck, you may even take something down with Destiny Bond.

trevenant.png

Trevenant @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Harvest
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP
Jolly Nature
- Phantom Force
- Thief
- Protect
- Destiny Bond

The above three Pokemon can cripple teams really well and this guy often manages to clean up some more. Phantom Force, Protect and Harvest is an awesome Combo. You will harvest more sitrus berries then you will ever need! But if the opponent managed to break your harvest cycle somehow, don't worry. You still may take one of their Pokemon down with Destiny Bond. I invested full Spd Evs to make the move as useful as possible. If you think the move is still useless, feel free to make the Pokemon bulkier instead. Additionally, you can use this Pokemon as a spin blocker.

meowstic.png

Meowstic (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Assist
- Substitute
- Dark Pulse
- Calm Mind

The most important Pokemon in this team. Meowstick will spam Assist/Whirlwind until it finds an opportunity to use Substitute and Calm Mind. After a few Calm Minds, every special attacker can be used for setting up and the best is, that you can shuffle until you get a special attacker. Prankster really makes it easy to set up a few calm minds before having to restore HP with leftovers while spamming Whirlwinds. You can sweep the opponent with Dark Pulses after you have set up enough and/or if you couldn't set up entry hazards on the opponents field. I use Dark Pulse because of its extra flinching chance and because Dark types are immune to STAB attacks of Meowstic. Instead of Leftovers, you can use Leppa Berry to get additional Assist PP.

ditto.png

Ditto @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Imposter
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SDef
Bold Nature
- Transform

The second most important Pokemon in the team. Dittos goal is to copy the enemies hazard setter and set up as many hazards as it can itself. Stealth Rock has priority over Spikes because of Gale Wings Talonflame. After it has done its job, you can save it as a late game sweeper it Meowstic fails. Keep in mind that it is awesome to copy Pokemon that set up on Wobbuffet or Megas generally.

Problems - Solutions
  • Mega Leads - Destiny Bond them with scarfed Gorgeist
  • Opponent has no hazard setter - find Pokemon you can set up and always shuffle to that Pokemon with Meowstic
  • Gale Wing Talonflame and other high speed priority user - Take them out with Wobbuffet or Ditto
  • Pokemon with magic guard, magic bounce, infiltrator or regenerator as ability - They will be problematic so you may want to take them out early
  • 4/6 of the team is weak to dark type - One of them only matters, so don't worry about that so much. Just cripple the opponents team as much as you can.
Why use Meowstic over Liepard?
Liepard has better typing and higher speed so why use Meowstic? The answer is the Move Calm Mind. With Calm Mind you can boost your spdef as high as you need. That combined with the ability to choose the Pokemon you will face is to good to be true. You don't want to face Pokemon like Garchomp yet? No problem! Just shuffle your opponents Pokemon until you find a special attacker or status user. Use priority Calm Mind or Substitude accordingly. Your opponent dared to change his Pokemon? Just shuffle again until you get the right one and continue setting up. If you had luck, you managed to set up hazards with ditto and each whirlwind costs your opponent HP. And the best is that after a few Calm Minds, the opponents special attacker can't even break your substitute anymore.

I am open for any suggestions to make this team better. Just keep in mind that I only can use a limited number of moves that aren't selected by Assist.
