[SET COMMENTS]

Absol’s amazing base 130 Attack stat coupled with Swords Dance and the strongest priority move in the game makes it a devastating sweeper for those who aren’t prepared.

Sucker Punch helps accommodate for it's mediocre Speed. With it, Absol becomes a tough challenge to take down as it can severely dent or possibly OHKO many Pokemon with a boosted Sucker Punch. Superpower is a great move paired with Sucker Punch as it allows for super effective damage to Steel and Dark-type Pokémon such as Steelix and Houndoom that would take little damage from Absol’s STAB Dark-type attacks. Night Slash allows you to eliminate Pokémon that try to outsmart you by refusing to attack while you try to Sucker Punch and works extremely well with Absol’s ability Super Luck. Psycho Cut, which also benefits from Super Luck, can dent incoming Fighting-type Pokemon such as Hitmontop and Hariyama who would otherwise cause trouble and also hits the abundant Poison-type physical walls.

As mentioned above, Absol generally has trouble against Fighting-type Pokémon, but a boosted Life Orb Sucker Punch is capable of dealing 64 - 75% damage to a 304 HP / 226 Def Hitmontop without Intimidate. In other words, you are able to knock out a weakened Hitmontop provided that you Swords Dance on the switch. On the other hand, the frailer Fighting-types such as Hitmonlee and Primeape can be OHKOed with a boosted Sucker Punch. Scope Lens is a decent alternative if you dislike the Life Orb recoil as it works very well with Super Luck, and the already high critical hit rate of Night Slash or Psycho Cut is used to score needed KOes against the most defensive of foes.

Weezing and Spiritomb are capable of switching in on Absol while it Swords Dances and threaten it at the same time with Will-O-Wisp, reducing Absol’s effectiveness greatly. For this reason, Pokémon that benefit from Will-O-Wisp are great options to pair with Absol. Milotic can benefit from it with Marvel Scale, Houndoom can use it to boost its Fire-type attacks with Flash Fire and Swellow can improve its sweeping capabilities with Guts. If you decided not to run Psycho Cut, Hariyama can easily wall this set with ease as it resists Absol's STAB Dark-type attacks and rubs off Superpower, which it can then proceed to OHKO with Force Palm or Close Combat. A good way to eliminate Hariyama is to use Pokémon like Crobat since it resists Fighting-type attacks by 4x and can threaten Hariyama with a powerful STAB Brave Bird. Espeon can easily switch in on Absol as it Swords Dances and can revenge kill it with Hidden Power Fighting or set up Substitute to protect itself from Sucker Punch. Spiritomb is an excellent pair up for Absol towards SubCM Espeon as it resists both Psychic, Hidden Power Fighting and in some cases, Signal Beam.

[SET]
name: Choice Band
move 1: Sucker Punch
move 2: Superpower
move 3: Aerial Ace / Stone Edge
move 4: Night Slash / Pursuit
item: Choice Band
ability: Super Luck
nature: Lonely / Adamant
evs: 252 Atk / 6 SpA / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Choice Band allows Absol to forego setting up Swords Dance and to hit hard right off the bat. It’s capable of reaching a whopping 591 Attack, making Absol a fierce competitor.

Absol should generally always run Sucker Punch as it helps support its mediocre Speed and is Absol’s strongest option to deal huge amounts of damage. Superpower is a great secondary option as it allows Absol to deal super effective damage mainly to Dark- and Steel-type Pokémon, as they resist Absol’s STAB. Steelix takes a hefty 52-62% damage, which is quite reasonable considering it has no form of instant recovery besides Rest. Aerial Ace allows Absol to hit bulky Fighting and Grass-types, Hariyama and Tangrowth in particular, while Stone Edge can be used to deal with Flying-type Pokémon such as Altaria. The last slot is given up for Night Slash or Pursuit. Night Slash works very well with Absol’s ability, giving it a higher chance to score a critical hit, but Pursuit can be used if you predict the opposing Pokémon to switch out, causing a considerable amount of damage.

Weezing and Spiritomb have no worry for switching in on Absol, since Weezing and Spiritomb can rub off all of Absol's attacks and proceed to cripple it. Shaymin can withstand Will-O-Wisp thanks to Natural Cure and can fend off Weezing with Psychic or threaten Spiritomb with a STAB Seed Flare. Shaymin also doesn't mind priority moves aimed at Absol, like an Aqua Jet from Azumarill or Mach Punch from Hitmontop.

[SET]
name: Choice Scarf
move 1: Night Slash
move 2: Superpower
move 3: Psycho Cut
move 4: Pursuit
item: Choice Scarf
ability: Super Luck
nature: Adamant / Jolly
evs: 6 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Absol equipped with Choice Scarf nullifies its mediocre Speed, reaching a reasonable Speed stat of 373 with an Adamant nature, making Absol that much more effective.

Due to the drastic increase of Speed, Sucker Punch becomes a lesser option as Night Slash is a far better choice to hit just as hard without much worry of faster opponents. Superpower will intimidate those who resist Absol’s Dark-type STAB attacks such as Steelix and Registeel, while Psycho Cut eliminates all Fighting-type Pokémon that would also enjoy switching in on Absol’s STAB attacks. Pursuit is Absol’s best choice for the last slot, as it allows Absol to dent holes in retreating Ghost-types threatened by Night Slash, and any threatened Pokémon in general.

This set has similar, if not the exact same problems as the Choice Band set. Weezing and Spiritomb can switch-in much more easily now since Absol doesn’t have boosted Attack power and can then be crippled by Will-O-Wisp. Houndoom is an excellent, if not best, option for Absol to switch-out to, boosting it’s Fire-type attacks with Flash Fire from an incoming Will-O-Wisp and then OHKOing them with Fire Blast.

[SET]
name: Mixed Sweeper
move 1: Sucker Punch
move 2: Fire Blast
move 3: Superpower
move 4: Night Slash / Psycho Cut
item: Life Orb
ability: Super Luck
nature: Lonely / Hasty
evs: 252 Atk / 40 SpA / 216 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

This set takes full advantage of the vulnerability of Absol’s counters on the special side of the spectrum and retaliates against them. Fire Blast is capable of always 2HKOing Steelix, a common counter that Absol has trouble dealing damage to. Sucker Punch is an excellent option to take advantage of Pokemon that are able to outspeed Absol, dealing hefty amounts of damage. Superpower allows you to OHKO Cloyster, and is your best option for dealing damage to Pokémon that resist Absol’s Dark-type STAB attacks such as Houndoom. Psycho Cut is for the omnipotent Poison and Fighting-types, namely Hariyama and Drapion, while Night Slash gives Absol a strong secondary attack against slower opponents instead of relying on Sucker Punch.

Life Orb is the best item for this set. With a Hasty nature and 240 Speed EVs, Absol can outspeed Adamant Toxicroak and score a OHKO with Psycho Cut. If you don’t mind about increasing Speed with a Hasty nature, you can use Lonely to improve Absol’s Attack to make full use of it’s base 130 Attack stat. Scope Lens is also an alternate option if you dislike Life Orb recoil, but Life Orb is generally the superior option to deal more damage.

Absol will have a lot of trouble dealing with Intimidate Hitmontop, Thick Fat Hariyama, and Dry Skin Toxicroak if you decide not to run Psycho Cut. With this being said, it’s a good idea to eliminate these Pokémon so Absol doesn’t have to worry about being walled by said Pokemon. Weezing is your best bet for these as it resists all of their STAB moves and can threaten them with Will-O-Wisp. Altaria is also capable of switching in without fear and can attempt to set up with Dragon Dance and destroying them with Outrage and Earthquake respectively. Hariyama can walk right into this set with no fear, resisting Fire Blast thanks to Thick Fat and Absol's Dark-type attacks thanks to its typing. Although, if you decide to run Psycho Cut, you have a decent chance at 2HKOing Hariyama. You could always use bulky Pokémon that take no harm from Hariyama, such as Milotic or Crobat, and proceed to threaten it with Toxic or Brave Bird, respectively, but you must watch out for Hariyama running Guts instead of Thick Fat if you decide to poison it.

[SET]
name: Anti-Lead
move 1: Taunt
move 2: Counter
move 3: Sucker Punch
move 4: Night Slash / Pursuit
item: Focus Sash
ability: Pressure
nature: Hasty
evs: 6 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

This set makes Absol a decent anti-lead, using the moves Taunt and Counter. Taunt disables leads trying to set up entry hazards or stat boosting, while Counter takes care of most Pokémon looking to end Absol as soon as possible. Sucker Punch works great in conjunction with Counter, as it can pick them off should they survive the blow. The last slot is up for grabs between Night Slash and Pursuit. Night Slash is a great STAB attack to have in case your opponent smartens up and tries to stall out Sucker Punch’s lack of PP, while Pursuit enables Absol to deal a hefty amount of damage to most leads fleeing from Absol.

The EV spread is a bit straightforward. Max Speed allows Absol to reach a reasonable stat of 273, just barely outspeeding neutral base 85s running max Speed. Focus Sash protects you from all direct damage that may cause an OHKO, the practical thing to do is to invest all of the EVs to maximize Attack to add as much damage as possible to it’s chosen attacks.

Like always, Weezing and Spiritomb can easily switch in on this set with no worry whatsoever and threaten Absol with Will-O-Wisp. Milotic and Shaymin are reasonable answers to eliminate Weezing and Spiritomb as they can Rest off Will-O-Wisp and threaten them with Surf or Seed Flare respectively. Fake Out leads such as Persian and Ambipom can do major damage towards Absol, leaving it vulnerable for a KO. Mismagius is a great team partner as it resists Fake Out and compliments Absol’s Fighting-type weakness. Fighting-types can easily wall this set since Absol has no way of dealing large amounts of damage aside from Counter. Crobat has no problem switching into Fighting-type attacks because of its decent typing, and can then score KOes with Brave Bird.

[Team Options]

Since Weezing and Spiritomb, some of Absol's biggest counters, can Will-O-Wisp Absol, Pokémon that benefit from Will-O-Wisp are excellent team partners. Swellow for example can use the burn to activate Guts instead of using Flame Orb as an item, meaning that Swellow can use Life Orb to deal massive amounts of damage with Facade. Milotic can also switch in and absorb Will-O-Wisp to activate Marvel Scale, increasing Milotic’s bulkiness, or Houndoom can use it to boost it’s Fire-type moves with Flash Fire. Mismagius also makes a great team player in conjunction with Absol since they both compliment each other’s weaknesses, meaning that Mismagius can start setting up Calm Mind or Absol can start setting up Swords Dance more easily. Shaymin is a decent option since it can switch in on Pokémon that are about to hit Absol with a super effective Fighting-type move coming from Hitmontop or Hariyama and can than destroy them with Psychic.

Setting up entry hazards can help Absol score more KOes and increase its effectiveness late-game. Roserade is an excellent candidate for Toxic Spikes or Spikes support as it resists Absol's Fighting-type weakness, while Absol is immune to Roserade's Psychic-type weakness. Claydol is a nice choice as well for setting up Stealth Rock, since it also resists Absol's weakness and can threaten the fighter with Psychic. Having heavy hitters on your team to weaken your opponent's team is also a good thing to keep in mind, allowing Absol to sweep weakened enemies much more easily. Blaziken, Shaymin, and Crobat are great examples as heavy hitters. Fire Blast from Blaziken, Leaf Storm from Shaymin, and Brave Bird from Crobat (which has a 4x resist to Absol's Fighting-type weakness) are all powerful STAB attacks that can severely hurt opposing enemies, giving Absol a chance to score many kills later in the battle.

[Other Options]

The first attack that springs to mind is Stone Edge. Stone Edge is more suitable if you decide to use Absol in the OU metagame, as it can dent Pokémon like Gyarados and Salamence harder than Absol’s other attacks would. Zen Headbutt has 10 more base power than Psycho Cut, but the latter’s higher critcal hit rate and better accuracy make up for the slight power drop.

Absol is capable of Baton Passing Mean Look, Swords Dance, Calm Mind, and Curse. Baton Passing Mean Look is one of Absol’s few niches compared to the rest of the UU Baton Passers. Swords Dance is better left to Scyther, while Hypno and Mr. Mime pass Calm Mind much better than Absol. It is one of the few Pokémon that can Baton Pass Curse as well, but there are still better choices for this job.

Will-O-Wisp can burn opponents while Thunder Wave can cripple some fast sweepers. Perish Song can be used to ruin Baton Pass chains as well. Absol can also lean Wish as a NYPC move, however, it is illegal with many of Absol’s egg moves.

[EVs]

Max Attack is highly recommended on any set with Absol, followed by maxing out Speed so Absol can be used to it’s full potential. The Mixed Sweeper set should stick with the given EVs to give Fire Blast the extra kick it needs to ensure OHKOes and 2HKOes.

[Opinion]

Absol is considered the “Disaster” Pokémon, bringing bad luck to any opponent that meets it, which is relatively true. STAB Sucker Punch is Absol’s biggest selling point. In fact, it’s the strongest priority move in the game. Swords Dance and a monstrous 130 Attack stat makes switching into Absol difficult; and if that wasn’t bad enough, Super Luck allows Absol a good chance of landing a critical hit. Its only real downfalls are its intolerable defenses and an average Speed stat.

[Counters]

Hitmontop with Intimidate is the best Absol counter. It isn't OHKOed by a Sucker Punch and Mach Punch does hefty damage in return. It must beware of Psycho Cut, though, as it will do massive damage even with Intimidate factored in. Thick Fat Hariyama can wreak havoc for Absol, since it resists Absol's Dark-type attacks, rubs off Superpower and Fire Blast, and can threaten Absol with a clean OHKO with Force Palm or Close Combat. Although, a Swords Danced Psycho Cut will OHKO Hariyama if Absol is running it. Drapion resists Sucker Punch and has an immunity to Psycho Cut, and the only concern Drapion should have is a Swords Danced Superpower. It should focus on being faster than Absol in order to score a OHKO with Brick Break or X-Scissor. Fighting-types with Mach Punch make most Absol think twice before retaliating. Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan work best as both of them are faster than Absol and can use their strong Fighting-type attacks to OHKO it. Blaziken can revenge kill Absol with Vacuum Wave as it can barely survive a boosted Sucker Punch as well. Steelix and Regirock can survive an unboosted Superpower and retaliate with Earthquake or Stone Edge respectively.

In reality, it is rather difficult to switch into Absol with “prediction”. After a Swords Dance, Absol can severely damage many of its counters while outpacing a lot of them. The best strategy to taking down Absol is to target its two key vulnerable points: its defenses and its Speed stat. Pokemon that are faster than Absol and use Substitute can basically force Absol to use Sucker Punch to get the KO, but this means you can get a free Substitute up to block Sucker Punch damage. For example, Espeon can threaten to OHKO Absol with a powerful super effective Signal Beam, but simply use Substitute when Absol uses Sucker Punch and proceed to OHKO it from behind its Substitute.

Thanks.

You used a lot of repitition in your sets, like putting "such as" threee times in a paragraph. I'd recommend changing that.

Your team support paragraphs for the sets were kind of short and were listing the same stuff over and over again. I don't have too much experience with Absol, but I'm pretty sure that the sets have different partners that could be used, instead of just absorbers of Will-O-Wisp. The team support section was also pretty short, try adding what complements Absol offensively and defensively instead of just your general paragraph.

Good job on this, though.

Thanks.

Thank you Katherine for the grammar and spelling checks.

Yes, I'm having some trouble with the team support paragraphs. Weezing and Spiritomb are usually the only things Absol would have trouble with. I'll figure out something.

Thanks.

Absol's amazing base 130 Attack stat coupled with Swords Dance makes it a devastating sweeper for those who aren’t prepared.

I would add that it is also paired with great priority, considering this is largely the most threatening aspect of Absol's attacking power (not in repetition of the second paragraph, though)

Absol has access to the strongest priority move in the game and it helps accommodate for its mediocre Speed. With Sucker Punch, Absol becomes a (removed "tough") challenge to take down as it can severely dent or possibly OHKO many Pokemon with a boosted Sucker Punch. Superpower is a great move paired with Sucker Punch as it allows for super effective damage to Steel and Dark-type Pokemon such as Steelix and Houndoom that would take little damage from Absol's STAB Dark-type attacks. Night Slash allows you to eliminate Pokemon that try to outsmart you by refusing to attack while you try to Sucker Punch and works extremely well with Absol's ability Super Luck. Psycho Cut, which also benefits from Super Luck, can dent incoming Fighting-type Pokemon such as Hitmontop and Hariyama who would otherwise cause trouble and also hits the abundant Poison-type (removed "s") physical walls.

removed "tough" because it's redundant (either say "Absol becomes tough to take down..." or Absol becomes a challenge to take down...")

you had Fire-types listed, when in reality, Fire-types are hit neutrally by your STAB. I think you meant Dark-types

I would consider removing or rewriting the entire section of the last sentence where it is talking about Poison-type physical walls, considering the majority are specially oriented (or are part Dark and hit harder by Superpower)

As mentioned above, Absol generally has trouble against Fighting-type Pokemon, but a boosted Life Orb Sucker Punch is capable of dealing 64 - 75% damage to a 304 HP / 226 Def Hitmontop without Intimidate. In other words, you are able to knock out a weakened Hitmontop provided that you Swords Dance on the switch. Scope Lens is a decent alternative if you dislike the Life Orb recoil as it allows Absol to have a higher critical hit rate.

mention that the frailer of Fighting-types like Hitmonlee and Primeape can be KOed with a boosted Sucker Punch. in the last sentence you say the reason to use Scope Lens is "to have a higher critical hit rate", however I'd like you to change it to something like "as it works well with Super Luck and the already high critical hit rate of your fourth attacking move to score needed KOes against the most defensive of foes" or something kind of similar. also mention te overall critical hit rate when all of these aspects are combined

Weezing and Spiritomb are capable of switching in on Absol while it Swords Dances and threaten it at the same time with Will-O-Wisp, reducing Absol’s effectiveness greatly. For this reason, using a Pokemon that benefit from Will-O-Wisp are great options to pair with Absol. Milotic can benefit from it with Marvel Scale, Houndoom can use it to boost its Fire-type attacks with Flash Fire and Swellow can improve its sweeping capabilities with Guts.

its>it's

with Marvel Scale makes more sense

You're really only brushing on Absol's team options. In general, Absol will want field effects or heavy hitters that can weaken the opponent's team enough for a sweep late game, plus a Pokemon that can switch in on and defeat Drapion (bulky Ground-types) and bulky Fighting-types (bulky Psychics etc.). Toxic Spikes is probably the most beneficial team support option I've used with Absol, as it lures out Drapion and weakens bulky Waters and assorted walls. With a full set of Spikes and Stealth Rock, Absol can usually take down Hitmontop on its own, too. I'd just like to see mention of some things like this as well.

(next set)

Absol should generally always run Sucker Punch as it helps support its mediocre Speed and is Absol's strongest option to deal huge amounts of damage. Superpower is a great secondary option as it allows Absol to deal super effective damage mainly to Dark and Steel-type Pokemon, as they resist Absol’s STAB. Steelix takes a hefty 52-62% damage, which is quite reasonable considering it has no form of instant recovery besides Rest. Aerial Ace allows Absol to hit bulky Fighting and Grass-types, Hariyama and Tangrowth in particular, while Stone Edge can be used to deal with Flying-type Pokemon such as Altaria. The last slot is given up for Night Slash or Pursuit. Night Slash works very well with Absol's ability, giving it a higher chance to score a critical hit, but Pursuit can be used if you predict the opposing Pokemon to switch out such as Ghost-types like Mismagius, OHKOing it and causing a considerable amount of damage to other types.

the underlined section is confusing, you should probably rework it a bit

http://www.stormloader.com/garyes/its.html
please read this and correct any more its/it's I may have missed, because a majority of them in this article were incorrect

Shaymin also resists priority moves aimed at Absol, like an Aqua Jet from Azumarill or Mach Punch from Hitmontop.

type chart says hello (Shaymin doesn't resist Fighting)

the same goes for the last set in terms of Team Options, however I would recommend adding how this can trap and kill bulky Psychic-types with Pursuit, giving Fighting-types an easier time to sweep

This is all for now; I have to go. Good job and good luck :)

Thanks diinbong. I expanded the Team Options section by a lot, so hopefully it's better now. I always thought Fighting was weak to Grass, probably because almost all of them were part Poison >_<. Sorry about that.

Thank you Katherine for the grammar and spelling checks.

Yes, I'm having some trouble with the team support paragraphs. Weezing and Spiritomb are usually the only things Absol would have trouble with. I'll figure out something.

Thanks.

Regirock, Steelix, SubCM Mismagius, Defensive Mismagius, SubCM Espeon, Blaziken (w/ Vacuum Wave), Drapion, Rotom, Basically any Dark Resist + Crobat to take the Superpower. Thats just off the top of my head too...

Regirock: Weak to Superpower.
Steelix: Weak to Superpower.
Mismagius: Weak to Night Slash.
Espeon: Weak to Night Slash.
Blazekin: Weak to Psycho Cut/Aerial Ace, but yeah Vacuum Wave.
Dropion: Heavy damage from Superpower.
Rotom: Weak to Night Slash.

Absol generally shouldn't have much trouble with those.

Well I forgot one *key* counter, Hitmontop. With intimidate and mach punch Absol is going to drop easy.

You cant just assume it can deal with a Pokemon because its weak to superpower. Firstly, most of them can survive an LO Superpower, and second, Crobat is so common that fighting attacks are not as surfire attacks as they were when it was gone.

For example:
Superpower vs (max Hp / Min Def) Regirock: 56.04% - 65.93% (Needs a Swords Dance to OHKO).
Steelix is the same pretty much. Not to mention they can just switch to crobat to take the superpower, and then Absol is only at +1 with a swords dance.

Also, Mismagius and Espeon both outspeed Absol and OHKO. Sucker Punch is an invalid argument against SubCMers, because of Substitute.

Drapion outspeeds Absol, and easily KOes with a SD Poison Jab / Cross Poison.

Rotom outspeeds Absol as well, and can Will-O-Wisp to avoid sucker punch.

Pokemon counters are very rarely just "black and white", as in they arent "not" counters because they are weak to one move.

I know what you mean, but Absol doesn't have "trouble" with those Pokemon. Weezing and Spirtomb give Absol trouble because of their bulk, immunities/resistances, Will-O-Wisp, Pain Split, etc.

You didn't evem mention Hariyama anywhere in this analysis.

All the sections you didn't rewrite are out of date.

I know what you mean, but Absol doesn't have "trouble" with those Pokemon. Weezing and Spirtomb give Absol trouble because of their bulk, immunities/resistances, Will-O-Wisp, Pain Split, etc.

Can you further explain how countering / checking a Pokemon doesnt qualify as "giving it trouble"? Because I dont understand.

They still take heavy damage. Steelix and Regirock take more than 50% of their health, Rotom is still gonna take a lot of damage even if Absol is burnt, etc. So, Absol doesn't necessarily have "trouble" with those specific Pokemon.

Added Hariyama.

I'll add in Hariyama.

With all due respect, i'd consider being either burned or fainted "trouble". You have yet to prove that Absol will consistantly beat these threats without "trouble".

Spiritomb is 2HKOed by an SD'd Night Slash, so if these Pokemon arent trouble, then Spiritomb definitely isnt trouble.

Well, I'm just gonna say that even if Spiritomb is 2HKOed, it can still Will-O-Wisp on the first Night Slash and survive the next one, which it then uses Pain Split and stall from there. Rotom, however, is unable to do that since it lacks a recovery move (excluding Rest) and its weak defenses won't help it survive another boosted Night Slash as it Will-O-Wisps.

As you said, Regirock will lose to an SDed Superpower, and Steelix loses a large chunck of its health. Drapion would take serious damage from Superpower, and would need to be EVed to outspeed Absol.

Even though Mismagius and Espeon are faster, the Choice Scarf set can outspeed them. I'm not exactly sure if Mismagius/Espeon can OHKO Absol with an unboosted HP Fight, if it doesn't, then they will lose to Night Slash. If it does, then I guess they can revenge kill Absol, but they don't cause trouble because they can't switch in on most of Absol's moves without much worry. Espeon takes a decent amount of damage from Superpower, but Mismagius does resist it. This is when prediction comes when this kind of thing happens with Mismagius. Blaziken also can't just switch in on Absol's moves. A boosted Night Slash would do more than 50%.

So being burned isnt "trouble"? It still stops absol dead in its tracks one its burned, and if Absol uses Night Slash, Rotom can just simply OHKO it with a Specs Thunderbolt (104.43% - 123.25%). Im not sure other peoples Rotom sets, but mine is Trick / Shadowball / Tbolt / WoW. I think most people use that, but either way my point stands about seriously maiming it in either sense.

Regirock and Steelix can switch into any attack except for Swords Dance and OHKO Absol, thats "trouble". Even if Absol predicts the switch and uses SD, whats stopping the person from switching to Crobat (who is omnipresent in the metagame)?

Blaziken can switch into anything except Psycho Cut and OHKO (93.73% - 110.70%) with VW.

You also completely missed my point about Missy and Espeon. They can just easily either OHKO Absol after switching into anything except Night Slash, and even just set up a Substitute on Sucker Punch. Espeon ALWAYS OHKOes with Signal Beam after SR (91.51% - 107.75%), and Missy has a less of a chance, but they can still set up substitutes on Sucker Punch quite reliably, especially since Absol can only carry Night Slash OR Psycho Cut, not both. Blaziken 100% beats one, and Espeon 100% beats the other, while Missy usually beats it as well.

You also missed my Hitmontop mention, who is probably the best counter to absol bar-none.

For Rotom, you're going to have to Will-O-Wisp first, then switch out, then switch back in and use Thunderbolt if it was supposedly Speced, but if Absol Night Slashes on the Will-O-Wisp, then Sucker Punchs when Rotom comes back in for the Thunderbolt OHKO, it would be dead. I'm not saying being burnt is not trouble. I'm saying that IF it was burnt by Rotom, it would still do a great deal of damage with Night Slash than to Weezing or Spiritomb. And I don't think anyone would be stupid enough to let Absol become burnt in the first place, unless it has to be for some reason.

Yes, Regirock and Steelix can switch in on Absol's attacks except for Superpower, but Absol is faster and can OHKO both Regirock and Steelix with a boosted LO Superpower. So that doesn't "trouble" Absol. Ok, Crobat can switch in to absorb Superpower, but you can just switch back out and wait for a good time to bring Absol back out and set up SD again to scare Crobat with Sucker Punch or Night Slash without the Attack/Defense drop.

Blaziken can't switch into anything without worrying too much from one of Absol's boosted attacks. A boosted Superpower does 86-101% on Blaziken, and this is if Blaziken is running max Defense and HP which will never happen, which means that it will always be OHKOed. A boosted Night Slash does 70-83% damage if Blaziken is running max Speed and Special Attack/Attack with 6 HP EVs. So, there is no way Blaziken can switch in on any of these attacks without losing a ton of health or getting KOed. Also, this isn't even including Life Orb.

A boosted LO Superpower on Espeon does 103-122% damage, meaning Espeon has no safe way of switching in on Absol's attacks. A boosted LO Psycho Cut does 60-71%, so Espeon wouldn't enjoy that. A boosted LO Psycho Cut on Mismagius does 47-56% damage on the standard Perish Song set, so it would be 2HKOed all the time.

I already know Hitmontop is one of the best Absol counters, he's already in the Counters section.

Now you seem to be assuming Absol gets a free Swords Dance as it switches in.

It cannot do 103-122% to Espeon with Superpower, it does 51.84% - 61.03% if it switches in. Espeon isnt even 2HKOed by Psycho Cut (45.22% - 53.68%), so it can switch into Swords Dance, Superpower, Sucker Punch OR Psycho cut. That effectively walls the whole set with mere resistances.

Many Pokemon cause absol trouble, if only Spiritomb and weezing stopped Absol, then it would be used on 100% of teams.

You have to mention the Pokemon who check it, because it cannot sweep with Blaziken still around, for example.

Blaziken Can switch in safely to Night Slash, which does 36.21% - 42.86%, or Swords Dance, and Superpower does 83.06% - 98.01%, so Blaziken still KOes Absol even if it switches into a superpower.

You can always switch Absol out if it has to. And yes, I'm doing the calcs as if Absol does get a Swords Dance in. At one point, it will if the opponent uses the wrong move at the wrong time. These Pokemon can't just keep switching into Absol. They still take a considerable amount of damage from each of Absol's attacks, and with Stealth Rock flying around, it's not gonna help 'em either. They don't effectively wall this set, they get hit more than 1 third, if not half, of their own health.

Anyways, I think we've come to an end.

[Counters]

Hitmontop with Intimidate is the best Absol counter. It is barely scratched by a Sucker Punch and Mach Punch does hefty damage in return. Drapion resists Sucker Punch and has an immunity to Psycho Cut, and the only concern Drapion should have is a Swords Danced Superpower. It should focus on being faster than Absol in order to score a OHKO with Brick Break or X-Scissor. Fighting-types with with Mach Punch make most Absol think twice before retaliating. Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan work best as both of them are faster than Absol and can use their strong Fighting-type attacks to OHKO it. Blaziken can live through a +2 Life Orb boosted Sucker Punch, and OHKO Absol with Vacuum Wave as well. Steelix and Regirock can both survive an unboosted Superpower and retaliate with Earthquake or Stone Edge respectively.

In reality, it is rather difficult to switch into Absol with “prediction”. After a Swords Dance, Absol can severely damage many of its counters while outpacing a lot of them. The best strategy to taking down Absol is to target its two key vulnerable points: its defenses and its Speed stat. Pokemon that use Substitute and are faster than Absol can basically force Absol to use Sucker Punch and get a free Substitute up. For example, Espeon can threaten to OHKO Absol with a powerful super effective Signal Beam, but simply use Substitute when Absol uses Sucker Punch and proceed to OHKO it from behind its Substitute.

I guess arguing seems to be pointless, but here is basically what I suggest.

some edits for what I assume are the newer changes that others haven't gone over yet. I guess some of these are nitpicky but I think they makes the prose sound better.

If you decided not to run Psycho Cut, Hariyama can easily wall this set with ease as it resists Absol's STAB Dark-type attacks, (remove 'and') rubs off Superpower (remove ', which it can then'), and can proceed to OHKO with Force Palm or Close Combat. A good way to eliminate Hariyama is to use Pokémon like Crobat since it resists Fighting-type attacks by 4x and can threaten Hariyama with a powerful STAB Brave Bird.

With that said, it never hurts to remove these Pokemon even if Absol carries Psycho Cut. Weezing is your best bet (remove 'for these') as it resists all of their STAB moves and can threaten them with Will-O-Wisp. Altaria is also capable of switching in without fear and can attempt to set up with Dragon Dance and sweep with Outrage and Earthquake (remove 'respectively'). (this sentence is somewhat redundant 'Hariyama can walk right into this set with no fear, resisting Fire Blast thanks to Thick Fat and Absol's Dark-type attacks thanks to its typing.') However, Psycho Cut (remove ',') has a decent chance at 2HKOing Hariyama. You could always use bulky Pokémon that take no harm from Hariyama, such as Milotic or Crobat, and proceed to threaten it with Toxic or Brave Bird, respectively, but you must watch out for Hariyama running Guts instead of Thick Fat if you decide to poison it.

Fake Out leads such as Persian and Ambipom can inflict major damage on Absol, leaving it vulnerable for a KO. Mismagius is a great team partner as it is immune to Fake Out. Fighting-types can easily wall this set since Absol has no way of dealing large amounts of damage aside from Counter; partnering Absol with a Crobat may be beneficial because of Crobat's 4x resistance to Fighting.

no mention of magic coat anywhere? Absol is one of the few Pokemon that learns it and it's useful on a lead set because of all the Sleep Powder / Hypnosis / Taunt flying around.

I think HeYsUp's tidbit about using Substitute with a faster Pokemon like Espeon or Mismagius should be mentioned elsewhere; despite being physically frail and weak to Absol's STAB, they work well to revenge kill Absol in a pinch because the Absol user has to (a) carry Night Slash and (b) win four or five guessing games in a row to avoid being KOed. oh, and Mismagius gets Will-O-Wisp, too.

Thanks for the edits.

Alright, I'll mention SubCM Espeon / Mismagius and Blaziken since they can revenge kill.

Also, Hitmontop isn't barely scratched by Absol. See calcs in the Swords Dance set.

Thick Fat Hariyama can wreak havoc for Absol, since it resists Absol's Dark-type attacks, rubs off Superpower and Fire Blast, and can threaten Absol with a clean OHKO with Force Palm or Close Combat.

Must mention Psycho Cut which OHKO's it after a SD. I think you might want to mention being extra careful switching in and suffering a OHKO from Psycho Cut.

I've said this before in the previous Absol thread, but you can't have an Absol with both Counter and Super Luck seeing as Counter is a 3rd gen tutor move only and Super Luck was introduced as an ability for it in the 4th gen

Couldn't you migrate the Absol with Super Luck from RSE to DPPT and then breed them to get a Super Luck Counter Absol?
