UU Alomomola

[OVERVIEW]

Alomomola has a great defensive typing, a huge HP stat, and a solid Defense stat, which allow it to blanket check a huge portion of the physically based metagame, including huge threats such as Infernape, Mega Sharpedo, Mega Beedrill, and Mamoswine. Its access to Wish provides great team utility and gives it a means of reliable recovery at the same time. Regenerator allows Alomomola to easily pivot in and out of the physical attackers it checks throughout a match. These traits allow it to fit comfortably on stall and balanced teams as a premier Wish passer that can blanket check many Pokemon. However, Alomomola is a pretty passive Pokemon because of its low offensive stats, meaning it can be turned into setup fodder by Pokemon that it cannot threaten, like Gliscor, and Substitute users, such as Suicune and Kyurem. Its low Special Defense stat also means that it can be taken advantage of by special attackers such as Primarina and Hydreigon. While it only has two weaknesses, Pokemon that threaten Alomomola such as Mega Manectric, Mega Sceptile, and Rotom-W see high usage. Alomomola is also very susceptible to Toxic Spikes and other entry hazards, which require removal if Alomomola wants to avoid the 2HKO from most of the attackers it checks. While very bulky, Alomomola is not bulky enough to take on extremely powerful wallbreakers such as Swords Dance Terrakion and Crawdaunt, which are big threats to balance and stall teams.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Wish heals not only Alomomola but also its teammates. Protect ensures that Alomomola receives its Wish and lets it scout for common Choice item users such as Hydreigon. Toxic allows Alomomola to stall out the attackers it checks with Wish and Protect. Scald is the primary option in the fourth slot, as it can burn physical attackers such as Scizor and Cobalion. Knock Off is also an option in either the Toxic or Scald slot to remove items such as Amoonguss's and Rotom-W's Leftovers.

Set Details
========

The given HP and Defense EV investment, in conjunction with a Bold nature, maximizes Alomomola's physical bulk. The rest of the EVs are used to patch up its mediocre Special Defense. Regenerator is by far the best ability Alomomola can use, giving it one-third of its health back every time it switches in and out, allowing it to pivot in and out of the attackers it checks. Leftovers is used to give Alomomola more passive recovery and helps with potential status ailments such as Toxic poison and burns. Rocky Helmet is an option as well to wear down physical attackers and U-turn users because Alomomola can still get passive recovery from Regenerator, but it leaves Alomomola significantly more vulnerable to residual damage.

Usage Tips
========

Alomomola completely walls physical attackers such as Mega Sharpedo and Infernape, so it's best to switch into them and start spreading Toxic poison as much as possible. Don't switch Alomomola into Pokemon such as Crawdaunt and Terrakion until their set has been scouted, as these Pokemon possess the ability to OHKO or heavily damage Alomomola at +2 with potential Z-Moves. Make sure to clear all entry hazards before pivoting Alomomola into a physical attacker, since, with multiple layers of Spikes and Stealth Rock up, it is often 2HKOed. Make sure that Alomomola cannot be 2HKOed by what it is switching into, especially when using Rocky Helmet. Alomomola should also focus on keeping its team healthy with its huge Wishes, so whenever a Pokemon is low on health, try to heal it back up. Against non-setup sweepers, Alomomola can be used as a scout to reveal potential Choice item users because of Regenerator, as it can pivot in and out of them without fearing being worn down.

Team Options
========

It should be noted that Alomomola fits best on stall and balance teams. Blissey is one of Alomomola's best partners because it blanket checks most special attackers in UU, while Alomomola blanket checks most physical attackers. The two form a rock-solid defensive core that is very hard to break. Clerics are also nice to have on a team with Alomomola, since Toxic puts it on an uncomfortable timer and can prevent it from walling Pokemon late-game. Togekiss, Blissey, and Sylveon fit this role well because they have good special bulk to complement Alomomola's physically defensive capabilities. Quagsire is another good partner for Alomomola because, with Unaware, it is able to check setup sweepers such as Swords Dance Terrakion, Cobalion, Gliscor, and certain Crawdaunt sets, and Alomomola helps out by being able to pass a Wish to Quagsire so it avoids the 2HKO from said Pokemon, although this does stack a Grass-type weakness. Entry hazard removers such as Latias, Moltres, and Tentacruel are almost mandatory because Alomomola detests Toxic Spikes and any other entry hazard that can wear it down. Grass-type checks are nice because Grass-types take advantage of Alomomola pretty well. Togekiss checks Mega Sceptile and Amoonguss, while Latias can check Celebi and Amoonguss as well. Electric-type checks such as the aforementioned Quagsire, Latias, and Amoonguss are also appreciated; Amoonguss is able to form a Regenerator core with Alomomola and is pretty specially bulky in itself.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Mirror Coat can surprise certain special attackers such as Latias and Primarina with an unsuspected KO. Healing Wish is a valid option on any bulky offensive team, as it can heal up Pokemon such as Mega Beedrill and Mega Manectric.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Special Attackers**: Special attackers such as Hydreigon, Primarina, and Starmie can deal heavy damage to Alomomola by taking advantage of its lower Special Defense stat and dealing heavy damage with a STAB or coverage move.

**Grass-types**: Grass-types such as Mega Sceptile, Amoonguss, and Celebi can force Alomomola out with the threat of an OHKO; Celebi and Amoonguss in particular do not mind Toxic thanks to Natural Cure and a Poison typing, respectively.

**Electric-types**: Electric-types such as Mega Manectric, Rotom-W, and Rotom-C can Volt Switch to gain momentum or just OHKO Alomomola with Thunderbolt, but none like Toxic.

**Status**: Status ailments such as Toxic poison and burn hinder Alomomola's ability to act as a wall, as it cannot perform its role on a team properly when taking too much chip damage.

Yo I ain't UU QC but

Knock Off is also an option to remove items such as Terrakion's Life Orb / CB
This is a really bad example because you are just giving Terrakion a free Justified boost when Scalding is 100% the better option.

Mirror Coat can surprise certain attackers such as Hydreigon and remove them from the game.
Hydreigon is immune to Mirror Coat because it is a Psychic-type move.

Overview
  • Be more specific of what sub mons can set up on it
  • Combine the line about passiveness with the line about relying too much on Toxic
  • I wouldn't say Grass is a common type in UU, especially since there are only 3 that are UU by usage and Celebi isn't too popular atm
Moves
  • I wouldn't specify that Toxic is for physical attackers as it affects pretty much everything in the same way, unlike Scald and its attack drop, and it can still be used to stall out some special attackers
  • Scarf Latias is kind of a weird example for a Knock Off target. I'd include more bulky examples like Rotom-W that really hate losing their Leftovers
Set Details
  • Small thing but mention why helmet is a good item as well, mainly punishing U-Turn users and annoying physical attackers as a whole
Team Options
  • For Quagsire, include some different examples like SD Cobalion and Terrakion, both of which Alo can pivot into and pass a wish to quag if need be
  • The line for grass checks is worded weirdly and repeats the role of Toge from the line before, and also mentions Mega Lati in the same way it's brought up in the line after
  • For the electric checks line, I'd rearrange the way the examples are mentioned. Something like "The aforementioned Quagsire, Mega Latias, and Amoonguss can also serve as strong Electric checks..."
Sorry if some parts of this sounded a bit nitpicky but overall nice work. QC 1/3 when this is implemented

Knock Off should also be slashed with Toxic (since Toxic is a pretty common move and the types of builds that Alomomola fits on generally have multiple Pokemon that can carry it, losing out on Toxic in exchange for different utility options isn't necessarily bad).

The bullet point that reads "Rocky Helmet is an option as well to wear down physical attackers and U-turn users because Alomomola can still get passive recovery from Regenerator, but it leaves Alomomola annoyed significantly more by possible poison and burns" should probably just mention residual damage in general since not having Leftovers makes it much more susceptible to sand/hazards as well as status.

I'd use an example that isn't Mamoswine in the first bullet point of Usage Tips. Adamant Mamoswine 2HKOs after Stealth Rock with just a little bit of chip damage and almost guarantees the 2HKO after Stealth Rock and a layer of Spikes and has a 56% chance to 2HKO just after Stealth Rock if Alomomola is running Rocky Helmet over Leftovers. Usage Tips in general should talk a little more about how to use it as a pivot.

The various components of the following sentence are redundant: "It should be noted that Alomomola fits best on stall and balance teams, and as such you will find mostly stall and balance Pokemon on a team with Alomomola, as its passive nature means that it doesn't fit well on offensive teams". You're basically saying the same thing 3 times.

Mention Blissey in the cleric section. It should ultimately read something like "Blissey is one of Alomomola's best partners because it blanket checks most special attackers in UU, while Alomomola blanket checks most physical attackers. The two form a rock-solid defensive core that is very hard to break. Alomomola's ability to pass large Wishes allows Blissey to run Soft-Boiled and additional utility moves like Stealth Rock, Toxic, and Thunder Wave, while Blissey can provide Alolomola with cleric support. Other specially defensive clerics (Heal Bell users) like Togekiss and Sylveon also make good partners for Alomomola, since Toxic puts it on an uncomfortable timer and can prevent it from walling Pokemon in the late game".

QC 2/3 once this is implemented.
