Ambipom

Ambiom@Iron Ball
Adamant/Jolly
Technician
6hp/252spd/252atk
Fling
Fake Out
Double Hit
Acrobat

Think this could work out?

I have been wondering if this could actually work, I have tried testing it, but most teams I face just are to bulky or resist acrobat.

You need Low Kick to beat Rock and Steel types. Still would struggle against some (Jirachi, although Jirachi would hate a Flung Iron Ball), but Low Kick over Fake Out helps.

Actually, try this:

Ambipom@Normal Gem / Flight Gem
Jolly, Technician
252 Atk, 252 Spe, 4 HP

Fake Out
Double Hit / Return
Low Kick
Acrobatics

If you're running Flight Jewel, U-Turn or Payback could be used over Fake Out. Ambipom doesn't do this set as well as Bulk Up Tornelos or Mienshao, but it's still good at it.

Mienshao@Normal Gem / Flight Gem
Jolly, Regenerator / Reckless
252 Atk, 252 Spe, 4 HP

Fake Out / U-Turn
Hi Jump Kick
Acrobatics
U-Turn / Payback

This could actually work thank!

The main reason I want to use ambipom is because of technician, that and ambipom is already decently fast.

Until you fling away the iron ball, you are killing ambipom's only good stat: his speed. Once you fling it you have no way of dealing with ghost types, I doubt acrobat is going to be good enough for jellicent/desukan. Even worse, you cannot hit steel or rock types at all: normal flying is really redundant coverage.

Also, since you aren't using a power boosting item, ambipom is going to be hitting quite weakly...

I believe I remember seeing a set like this except instead of acrobat it ran switcheroo.

Something like:

Ambipom@ Flame Orb, Toxic Orb, Black Sludge, Whatever really.
Jolly, Technician
252 Atk, 252 Spe, 4 HP

Fling
Switcheroo
Double hit / Fake Out / Low Kick / U-Turn / Acrobatics
Double hit / Fake Out / Low Kick / U-Turn / Acrobatics

Also, you are going to want to fix up that first post, because this thread may be locked. Make it an analysis if you can.

If you really need a high power Dark move to lead with, you can use Beat Up. With all six of your teammates alive, and assuming an average base attack of 100 between them, that's six 22.5 base power Dark hits in total, which also breaks sashes. The average base attack will probably be a bit lower, but still be good enough. You can also use a more useful item than iron ball (focus sash, life orb).

I've used the standard ambipom set in OU, and it worked decently.
Ambipom @ Life Orb
252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 SpD
- Fake Out
- Payback / Pursuit / Beat Up
- Low Kick
- Return / U-turn

Good revenger and hit-and-run Pokemon.

Not sure how it compares against Low Kick, but Ambipom can also learn Ankle Sweep now, which after Technician gets 90BP, and lowers the opponent's speed which might come in handy...

I've had a lot of success with this one as my lead.

Ambipom @ Life Orb / Silk Scarf / Muscle Band
252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 HP
- Fake Out
- Ankle Sweep / Low Kick
- U-turn / Pursuit
- Return / Taunt / Pursuit

Obviously, if you're running Return, the Silk Scarf is the way to go. This works great as an anti-lead, and again for late-game damage if you just want to come in and smack something with priority. Not everyone expects Taunt on Ambipom surprisingly, but the real magic of this set is Ankle Sweep--not only does it have 90BP with Technician, but it also lowers the foe's speed. Using it against faster, frail opponents that fail to KO you/switch in can often force them to switch out or risk being KO'd by the now-faster Ambipom. U-Turn works perfectly with this, allowing you to scout any switches that come after Ankle Sweep.

The set lacks a little bit of raw power, which is why Life Orb is the suggested held item. Unfortunately, throwing out Fake Outs and U-Turns is going to cause recoil damage to build up really fast, so the Silk Scarf (if using Return) or even the Muscle Band (if using Pursuit / Taunt) give you just a wee bit of a boost without having to deal with constant loss of health. Or if you have Item Clause and want Life Orb on something else.

It's also worth noting that if you don't pack a Life Orb, you miss out on 2HKOing 64 HP/0 Def Infernape Leads with Fake Out and Ankle Sweep, and the guaranteed OHKO on 0 HP/4 Def Lucario with Ankle Sweep. You also lose the ability to OHKO 252 HP/0 Def Tyranitar with Ankle Sweep (however, Low Kick is still a guaranteed OHKO, even with a Silk Scarf).

Worked well for me.

two ambi' sets i've used.

fake out ambi'
@silk scarf/flight gem
jolly, speed&attack EVs
fake out
u-turn
payback/shadow claw/ankle sweep
double hit(silk)/acrobatics(gem)
its faster then meinshao and infernape, and ohkos with a stab tech double hit or acrobatics (you need to out speed and fake out the infernape first though), on dragonite don't even bother staying in, just u-turn to something that can take the t-wave. ankle/payback/shadow claw are for coverage. on wifi with the DS i beat a infernape, regigigas and severely injured a volcarona before it died with this set.

Anti anti-ambi ambi
jolly, attack, enough speed to outspeed the rest in hp w/ flight gem
-u-turn
-acrobatics
-ankle sweep/payback/shadow claw
-ice punch
Most ambipoms carry fake out, so most people will put either a ghost, ferrothorn or a inner focus/fake out lead.
u-turn on things you can't handle. acrobatics beats fighting types and is the primary damaging move on this set. ankle sweep is for the normal resists who think they can walk all over you, but you could also use payback or shadow claw to take out pesky ghosts (or u-turn the heck out). Ice punch won't ko dragonite, but will dent it when its expecting a u-turn.

Just wanted to remind people that ice punch is possible as well, and it helps if you hate dragonite as much as I do.

The Pom set I use (and have used for around a year) is:

Silky Pom Pom
Ambipom w)Silk Scarf
Technician
Jolly (252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP)

Fake Out
Double Hit
Low Kick
U-Turn

I know many people probably already use this set but it is one of my favourite mons'. High attack and speed with access to fake out first turn and then deal some damage with Dbl Hit/Low Kick or return with U-turn. It's a great lead and is (in my opinion) the best fake out'er out of all of the fake out'ers.

Need to watch for Ghost-types with this one:
Ambipom @ Life Orb/Silk Scarf
Jolly/Adamant
252 Atk/252 Spd/4 HP
Fake Out
Last Resort

Skill Link, which makes his multihits hit 5 times every time.

However, Aipom hasn't been released into the Dream World yet AFAIK, so it's a moot point.

^It would be a moot point even if it was released seeing as how Ambipom lacks the tools to abuse Skill Link. Fury Swipes only reaches 90 base power before STAB, so you'd be better off using Technician Double Hit (or Return if you prefer accuracy over the ability to hit through Subs)...and those are its only multi-hit moves.

Anyway, instead of making a whole new thread, you could have posted in the Creative Moveset thread.

this Ambipom set is really good but it totally gets countered by a lead gliscor especially because ambipom can only fling and acrobat it and wont do almost anything due to most lead gliscor are extremely defensive

Ambipom (M) @ Choice Scarf Trait: Technician
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Fake Out
- Switcheroo
- Retaliate
- U-turn

This is my absolute favorite Ambipom lead set. 99 out of 100 people I face expect Fake Out on Turn 1 and switch to either a wall/ghost/Eviolite holder just to have their Eviolite/Leftovers stolen and their wall made generally useless with a Scarf. U-Turn and Fake Out are obvious, and Retaliate hits like a truck for revenging.

Looks nice, but I'd hate to be locked onto Fake Out x[
