Tell us a little about your experience in competitive Pokemon (min. 3 sentences):
Okay, so I am new to the competitive scene of Pokemon. I stumbled across it a few weeks ago. I'm interested now and even entered a few official tournaments. I would like to know more about analyzing my opponent's team and how to build my own, as sometimes it confuses me on what to do.
Are you able to use Discord?:
Yes, but sometimes I won't be able to talk. Hopefully, that won't be a problem though. donut_11215

Tell us a little about your experience in competitive Pokemon (min. 3 sentences): Peaked 1800s OU, 2200s Randbats, qualified for 3 suspect tests, went 1-1 in Spring Seasonal (got coinflip win r3 and gave opp win r4). Went on a hiatus ever since Spring Seasonal, and just returned to battling, sitting around 2150 in randbats at the time of this being written, and not having retried OU yet. Still don't consider myself very good at the game, as I found myself sitting around 1600-1700s more than 1800s in OU, and often tilting from 2200s to as low as 1700s in randbats. Also I got a bit lucky in my win in ssnl and got stomped in my loss. I'd like to work on my battling skills the most, would like to learn how to make good midgrounds and proper positioning. Would be cool if I could make a deep run in a single or drafted in a team tour.

I have been interested in VGC a lot since 2023 but the most I've been doing is watching the official tournaments regularly (regionals, internationals and worlds). Recently I've decided to give PS! a try since i feel like individual combats are the better start but i really dont have the knowledge of creating teams/modify them or any related feature so I've been pllaying random battles and right now I'm at 1544 elo. I really want to get into OU since its the most popular metagame and I hoped I can become a tutee of someone here becauseI heard its a good way of learning.

Tell us a little about your experience in competitive Pokemon (min. 3 sentences): I have been playing "casual" competitive pokemon since Gen 3, understand most of the theory and mechanics of the game just lack the game sense and long term planning in games. I like to make my own teams but lack the imagination to make them anything more than mediocre. Gen 9 has been my favourite gen since like DPP and really want to get better with the goal of being able to qualify for suspect voting requirements at least once.

Tell us a little about your experience in competitive Pokemon (min. 3 sentences): I started playing competitive pokemon years ago during gen 4. This gen I am trying to actually be a good competitive battler. So far I have been able to reach 1700 but I'm typically between 1500-1600. I want a tutor who would be able to help me understand and be able to build strong teams of my own, and gameplan and battle at a higher level. Ideally I want to improve enough to eventually play the tours.
Are you able to use Discord?: Yes, prefer text chat so I can revisit the lessons but can also use vc when needed

I played online a bit back in X and Y but outside of that I recently got into Showdown. I'm in a draft league with some friends and currently first seed but feel like I have plenty of room to improve. I think my current peak is around 1250 or so but I haven't tried to run the ladder very hard. Looking to get better at team building and just play in general.

Tell us a little about your experience in competitive Pokemon (min. 3 sentences): I am getting back into the game after several years, I played OU in USUM and S&S but I was never spectacular. I'd love to get back into the format and improve past my old peak (like 1400) but I know nothing about SVso I'm looking for help just learning the basics of SV OU--teambuilding, threats and checks, dealing with tera, etc.

I've played quite a bit of pokemon and started to get interested in competitive around gen 6. Recently I've just felt like I wanted to get better at the game, I'm around 1400 on the ladder and my goal is to be around 1700-1800.

Tell us a little about your experience in competitive Pokemon (min. 3 sentences): I've been playing competitively pretty casually since DPP OU and while I've been OK at battling, I struggle a lot with team building and playing consistently well. However, I haven't really tried too hard to get better since I was a kid. As of recent, I've had a bit of trouble laddering in SV OU and would like to develop fundamentals to get to the 1700s on the ladder in OU and then hopefully take those skills to other metagames as well. I'd eventually like to relearn Gen 4, Gen 6 and 7 as those have been my favorites to ladder in, but I feel like this would be a good starting point.
Are you able to use Discord?: Yes, and can probably mic up too (would have to set it up though).

Tell us a little about your experience in competitive Pokemon (min. 3 sentences): I come from NDOU and that’s basically the main tier I’ve been playing for all my time playing competitive mons besides some dips into other tiers for fun like the Gen 7 OUs / randbats, even became VR council for it (eventually). Subbed / supported in small teamtours and I have decent knowledge on how the game’s interactions work so I’m not completely clueless. However, I mainly have trouble clicking the right buttons I need to in in-game scenarios and have seemed to plateaued on that end, so learning sv on my own would be somewhat tough.

Tell us a little about your experience in competitive Pokemon (min. 3 sentences): I'm mainly a randbats player, peaked in 2200s this gen and currently around 2050. I originally started in Gen 7 monotype and balanced hackmons (was really bad back then lol) and have more recently dabbled in Gen 9 Natdex, DOU, draft league, and custom formats similar to VGC. I know the basics of teambuilding but have much room to improve; I would like to become more proficient in teambuilding and more familiar with the meta.

I've been playing competitive mons since the start of SS but started seriously getting into tournaments this year. I'm decent at SV OU, going 6-2 in the recent OUFL. I can play with most teams, but I struggle with maintaining consistency on high ladder. I'd also like help with teambuilding, as I find it really difficult.

Tell us a little about your experience in competitive Pokémon (min. 3 sentences): I first started playing Pokémon Showdown in August and have been playing on and off. Lately, I’ve really been enjoying OU and have peaked in the 1700s on the ladder. I primarily play stall and semi-stall, but I feel like I’ve hit a plateau skill-wise. I’d like to improve my team building skills, identifying mid-ground plays, and proper positioning/long term game strategy. Also, I’d like to learn other play styles like balance or bulky offense.
Are you able to use Discord?: Yes, it’s my preferred communication method since I only lurk on the forums. My Discord is Pinkstork.

Started out just enjoying nuzlockes, used to play gen 7 random battles years ago, and watched games of draft leagues. Came back to Showdown in Gen 9 and played some SV OU using my in-game team; am just recently picking it back up again. Like most card games, I'm easily enthralled by deck/teambuilding as a puzzle, and am motivated by bringing unique compositions to whatever game I play.

Tell us a little about your experience in competitive Pokemon (min. 3 sentences): I’ve dabbled here and there in competitive Pokemon for quite some time. I watch a lot of competitive content and aim to improve myself anyway I can. I’ve played a lot of Random Battles and a bit of OU (mostly during previous gens, but I’ve played a little of SV OU as well), but I’m still quite green at the game in general. I’ve only recently begun to take getting better at Pokemon bit more seriously. I am extremely hard on myself as a player, so I am very open to feedback and criticism to work towards improving. I think the biggest aspects I want to better myself at are teambuilding and understanding how my choices affect the game state in later turns.
Are you able to use Discord?: Yes, and if anything, I prefer it.

I've loved Pokemon basically my whole life and my favorite in the series is Black/White, but I've never fully gotten involved in competitive. I really love the community-led tournaments on Smogon and PS!, and I want to play to be able to understand team building, Pokemon roles, and the fundamentals of it so I can appreciate it more. I haven't played much OU and I understand the battles on a very surface level. My goal is to be able to grasp the intermediate and advanced concepts to be able to compete in some tournaments from time to time, possibly in more than just OU.

Tell us a little about your experience in competitive Pokemon (min. 3 sentences): I don't have a lot of experience overall. I played a bit of stadium singles on cartridge but got destroyed, and then I found showdown and played some SV OU. I'm now in the ADPL (undrafted roulette, but still in!), and want to mainly learn how to make good teams and how to play against other types of teams well.
