Swampert works very well in a hail team, it can take fire / rock / fighting moves with ease and can also set up stealth rock.

I just battled someone 4x in a row. He used a Scarf Breloom lead, I used Metagross. I would BP, and EVERY SINGLE time, I get paralyzed by effect spore, so Spore didn't work. He said that that happened just about every single time.

Can anyone explain?

what is there to explain?

I don't think exhaustive research has been done concerning the mechanics of Effect Spore in D/P. It's not high on anybody's priority list, since both Breloom and Parasect got better abilities with the transition to D/P.

Although this doesn't answer your question, I'd advise Poison Heal over Effect Spore for exactly this reason; Effect Spore usually just serves to prevent Spore from working.

Well without a Toxic Orb (which Lead Breloom doesn't use) poison heal is really situational, and I'd much rather status any mofo that wants to take a swing at Breloom. But that's a whole 'nother discussion.

At the question, from the Effect Spore page.

Has a 30% chance of inducing paralysis, poison, or sleep with uniform probability on an enemy that connects with a contact move. If the attack does no damage, Effect Spore does not activate.

So it seems you just got (un)lucky. 4 battles is not near enough to get conclusive evidence that Effect Spore may be bugged. It's like missing Fire Blast 3 times before hitting; that doesn't mean it's accuracy is actually 75%.

I don't really care how situational Poison Heal is without Toxic Orb. The fact is that Effect Spore is often detrimental, as evidenced by the poster who started this discussion. If Effect Spore activates, you've got a 1/3 chance of causing an effect that you were about to cause anyway with Spore and a 2/3 chance of causing a lesser status effect that blocks Spore. I think I'll take Poison Heal just to avoid that happening.

This is kinda a noobish question but can someone tell me what all the natures increase and descrease please? Thanks :toast:

I'm not so sure. I played the same guy 5 times today, and every single time, my Metagross would BP, get paralyzed, and no spore would go down. Statistically, the odds of that happening would be .0000001%, which is as close to zero as it gets.

Wait, Baton Pass is a contact move?

[17:11]: (wymsy)they put garchomp in ubers a while ago

Can I get a confirmation on that? Doesn't make sense to me. Why would Garchomp get bumped up but not any of the other dual-ice-weak-600-club-dragons-with-killer-movesets?

Is there anywhere I could get some help on putting together a team for the Battle Tower?

I just got into BT aswell, the thread is all but dead though, you can try and PM Jumpan though he rarely comes on, though a few general rules, don't have two pokemon weak to the same moves, don't use moves with low accuracy such as Fire Blast/Focus Blast/Hydro Pump they will cost you alot of games, and build with a strategy in mind (EX: don't throw 3 sweepers together with absolutetly no syngery and call it a team as it will utterly fail most likely barring 1-49).

From what I know when you go on Mystery Gift you recieve the Wondercard which has stuff written on it, when you start the game go to a Market (Not Vielstone) and talk to the guy below the counter and you will recieve whatever the gift was.

Here's an example NZONEPIKACHU

Garchomp was put in ubers because it overcentralized, the whole game revolved around it. Garchomp is in another leauge when compared to Dragonite, Salamence, and Flygon, who all posses lower Atk, and Speed. Garchomp was capable of 2HKOING every pokemon in the game after 1 Sword Dance I believe as well as being the best scarfer in the game, also he was often at the end of BP Chains and with 4 Times the attack even the bulkiest of steels can't take an outrage.

Correct those passing through if I was wrong on any of my points.

Why do you need conformation when the resources are on the site? It was tested for centralization, and people voted Uber.

EDIT: @Tucker: Garchomp is actually weaker than Salamence and Dragonite (Flygon isn't in the "club").
