why isn't Flame Wheel on this guts moveset as an option
http://www.smogon.com/dp/pokemon/raticate

It would deal decent damage against steels with the support of guts.

I think it deals more damage to them than Facade. Is this right??(is facade still stronger against steels?) I am not sure. help Dx
The main reason is that most of the steel types in NU are Steel/Rock, which means neutral to Flame Wheel and 4x weak to Reversal, so overall Reversal would be the better choice even with Reversal's variable base power.

EDIT: Oh, yah, for pure steel-types (the only one in NU is Mawile):
Flame Wheel = 60 x 2 x 1.5 (Guts) = 195 base power
Guts Facade = 140 x 1.5 (STAB) x 1.5 (Guts) / 2 (NVE) = 157 ... so yes, flame wheel WOULD hit harder, but pretty much that's only for Mawile which wouldn't be seen often even in NU.

What would the flinch rate be for a pokemon with serene grace, holding a king's rock, using something like Air Slash?

King's Rock doesn't affect the flinch rate of moves that normally have a chance to flinch, like Air Slash; it only gives moves that don't have a chance to flinch a slight chance to. So, the chance would still be 60%.

catching synchronizers...

So...I want to catch a Timid Heatran with good IVs...

I guess I need a T imid Ralts with Synchronise or something...

Here's the question though...in order to catch a Timid Ralts with Synchronise, do I need a Timid pokemon to catch it with, or does the Synchronise Ability on a wild pokemon not match up the Nature of the wild pokemon with the pokemon you're using to catch it.

You just keep catching Ralts until you get lucky and it's a Timid one. You can't do anything to determine it's nature (unless you use another Timid Synchronizer, in which case what are you doing catching Timid Synchro Ralts for anyway?).

Anybody have a good spread for a Mixape running at lvl 50 (Showdown) with max 248 Spe? I need a good Naive offensive EV split for a STAB Special and un-STAB Physical.

Also one with same qualities, but with STAB on Phys and SpAtk side. I would appreciate it much.

REMEMBER: A stat point is obtained for 8 EVs, not 4.

Scenario:
Doubles battle. I send out Alakazam and Medicham. I have Alakazam use Role Play on Medicham to copy Pure Power (lol).

My question is, will Alakazam's attack double? I've read that Huge Power's effect halves if it is Skill Swapped away or 'if the ability is changed.' So, will Alakazam be rockin' a 2x or 1.5x attack boost? And will Medicham's attack boost change since it's ability was copied?

Much thanks in advance.

Would you guys say Banded Flygon is a good counter/switch-in to your standard mixape/SDape? Looks OK from my POV...
Banded? SD Ape would SD on the switch and OHKO with CC, If Mixape does anything but Flamethrower/Fire Blast it KOs with a follow up. However this assumes that your opponent knows that you're Band > Scarf. The initial switch-in should be fine but if your opponent catches on then no :x

i thought it would be 185 instead of 195.

what if i want to use him in OU? Flame wheel or reversal/ergo trip?

The trouble with that is that now, people expect Lucario to use Ice Punch when they bring out Gliscor.

According to march stats, ice punch is present only on 21% of Lucario's sets, while crunch is on 51% (assuming that SD, extremespeed and CC are the other 3 moves). So I would say that hp ice could have a good surprise effect. And I believe that a team which packs Gliscor as a fighting counter, would switch it into Lucario anyway.

Whats the difference between Lum and Chesto Berry? Why do people use Chesto when Lum covers every single status? Is it to purposely get rid of sleep and sleep alone?

Usually on a pokemon with Rest but not Sleep Talk. The theory behind it is to use Rest when you're low on HP and immediately afterwards wake up. That plan won't work if you use Lum Berry and are hit by Thunder Wave now will it.

Getting back into competitive battling. Tips?

I am going to start on Shoddy again before moving back to Wi-Fi (as I have to make a full team), but I was wondering what I should expect now-a-days.

To be more clear, I was wondering things like...

What seem to be the most popular team strats now-a-days?

Who are the most popular sweepers/tanks/walls now and why?

What are some very common counters I should look out for?

Has anything drastic changed since the D/P battling seen roughly a year ago?

Finally, what are Scizors most common counters now-a-days?
