No it was bought launch day... I've gotten these responses from others on a different forum:

I don't think it's broken. I think steps are put towards an egg even if it is with the Daycare guy. Magikarp eggs aren't that hard to hatch, especially if you're on a bike.

I've had this happen, only it said 'It occasionally makes sounds inside' or whatever the second stage was.

No, Magikarp is just that fast at hatching.

Hopefully they are correct.... :naughty:

Actually, I've hatched Magikarp before. They really do hatch that quickly, nothing's wrong with your game.

the wifi blacklist states that yamipoli either hacked or used a "Jap PokemonBox glitch" on her dittos. well i have one of her dittos, and i'm curious as to what this glitch is. bulbapedia has no answers. i assume this has to do with the japanese version of pokemon box?

I want to make a team that revolves around Monferno, 'cause I think he's just so badass, I'm thinking of using him in a trick room team, this is how it would go: Monferno uses fakeout, Bronzong sets up trick room, Monferno then goes for an attack, if he doesn't take out the PKMN, and it gets to attack, it'll bring Monferno down do it's sash. If I sense a priority move coming, then I'll endure and take it out with Bronzong, and if things ever get too sticky, I can always endure and explode, now, my question is, will this work? Monferno has 81 base SPD, but what if I give it a nature that lowers his SPD, will it work?

Well Monferno is relatively weak....And even at Quiet/Brave I don't see this being too effective.

I agree. If you want Trick Room, you're better off with Chimchar with Fake Out / Endeavor / Mach Punch / Endure or something like that, but Smeargle does this better with Spore/Dark Void though.

I just downloaded Shoddy yesterday and was just playing around with it when I noticed something that brings me to this question. I am not ready to battle yet on the server being I don't really have a team in my Platinum yet to and I am mid breeding to even consider asking for a match. Although this is true I saw a person can put create a team and they don't even need to own a pokemon game. Being I don't wanna cheat in any way at all I am not going to do that, but I was wondering how is it enforced so people don't do that or so it is known that a person has actually bred or caught the pokemon?

I remember in Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald, after you beat the Elite Four that Latios and Latias would have their IVs and nature set in stone once you hear the announcer on TV, so you could soft reset for trying to get one.

Can you do the same in Platinum with Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres after you've defeated them before they regenerate? In other words: If I go and beat Moltres because I don't like its nature and/or IVs, if I go beat the Elite Four, when my character wakes up in her house, I assume that's when the birds' nature/IVs are generated, or are they set in stone after I beat the Elite Four and they regenerate?

Wait, I have a question. Let's say a Gyarados Intimidates my Smeargle. I Baton Pass to Gliscor with Hyper Cutter. Does the Intimidate effect disappear?

Um, ShoddyBattle is a simulator. Nothing you breed will have any bearing on Shoddy. You can't connect and upload or anything like that, nor is there any honor code that people follow concerning what you have ingame. It assumes you have the best options available, meaning everybody has whatever moveset they want, perfect 31 IVs straight down the board, and any pokemon despite how rare it is. No work involved. That's why it's a simulator; it just simulates what can be achieved, not what is achieved, meaning it's not cheating to use perfect pokemon.

When people want to use their ingame breeds and hard earned pokemon, they battle over Wifi using their actual game.

Their IVs are generated when Oak tells you about them, not when you defeat the E4. I don't think it's known if roaming pokemon's IVs/nature reset after a KO, so it'd be something to test.

No,. It wouldn't with Clear Body either.

Ok thanks but now for 2 more questions.

First one is this, where do people on this forum play more often through Wifi? or through Shoddy? I see battle logs, and stuff in the War Stories written and was wondering which is more commonly played, and for instance when a war story is written that has a battle log are we saying these players are using pokemon with 31 IV's for every stat and max EV's as well?

Secondly is since I have one of the crappy wireless devices that the DS doesn't seem to get along with very well what one do people use that gets their DS connected to a wireless network?

I wanna say Shoddy is larger, but wifi is pretty big so I can't say for sure. And yes, those warstories are all from Shoddybattle with 31 IVs and everything (Shoddy doesn't allow you to break game limits, so you can only have 510 EVs like ingame).

I'm going to direct you to Nintendo's website for that one. There's multiple routers that work and the site has a list of them if that's what you're looking for. If your connection problem is a technical one it may also solve that for you too.

Question: Are there any one-time events in Emerald that I should be wary of first playthrough? This includes one time pokemon that can be RNG abused.

Thank you for your assistence and from Emerald I don't think there are any events that should worry you first play through, every important Legendary that comes up you can SR for and unless you are actually concerned about your record or anything. I am pretty sure that there is nothing special event wise that you are forced into (unlike Gen4 where you are forced against their mascot)

Question: Where do I find the sprites and pictures of the guys to post when I make a topic of some sort?

We get them mostly of pokemonelite2000...

Their IVs are generated when Oak tells you about them, not when you defeat the E4. I don't think it's known if roaming pokemon's IVs/nature reset after a KO, so it'd be something to test.
Their IVs do reset if you KO them, beat the Elite Four then talk to Oak. I know this because today I tried this, and the first go I caught a Mild Moltres, then a Sassy one. In other words:

1. KO the roaming Pokemon
2. beat the Elite Four
3. talk to Oak, THEN the bird's stats are generated.

And how do you go about doing that?
Serebii said:
Once you have the National Dex and have been to Pal Park to see Professor Oak, go to his house in Eterna City. When there, he will tell you about the birds and how they've been spotted in Sinnoh. After that, if you check your marking map, all three are in Sinnoh.
