Hey I am trying to ev train my blastoise in special defense, except I don't no where to train. I do level 50 battles so battling tentacool would take to long. Its two attacks are surf and ice beam so where should I train for special defense?
PokeMauler

Just teach it something else temporarily.

Tentacools are your best bet.

In RMT will my post be locked if I don't know the IVs? =/
If you have the Pokemon's stats at Level 100 and the EVs you gave it, you can find its IVs. However, it sounds like you don't know what the EVs are either, and if you don't know those, then your RMT will definitely be locked.

Hey there,

I'm using MetalKid's Damage Calculator for the first time & I was wondering what I'm doing wrong. When I try to see how much damage a Dread Plated Arceus' Judgment would do to Giratina, it's coming up that it wouldn't do any damage.

I remembered to check the "Activate Ability" box for Arceus & I remembered to make the move type dark. Am I missing something?

I don't think Multitype works right because no matter what I try, nothing changes. I believe that calculator always treats Judgment as a Normal attack. You'll have to set the move to Override and input the move type, power, and physical/special yourself.

I'm not entirely sure how to operate MetalKid's damage calculator (nor have I tried), but you might find this one easier to use.

If you have any trouble using it, just follow these instructions.

Stellar said:
1) Open up Shoddy Battle's Team Builder and enter the EVs for the Pokemon you want to use for the damage calculation in order to find their stats. Alternatively, you can use a Stat Calculator.

2) Enter the stats for the Attack, Defense, and HP fields.

3) Enter the base power of the move before STAB.

4) Select the type effectiveness of the move on the left hand side.

5) If the Pokemon receives STAB on the move, select Yes from the STAB field.

6) If the Pokemon is holding an item (for example, Life Orb), select it from the "Offensive Item" list.

7) If the Pokemon is weak to Stealth Rock, select x2, if it is resistant, select x.5 from the Stealth Rock field.

8) Click Calculate damage.

9) The damage dealt and the potential for OHKOs and 2HKOs is displayed at the bottom of the calculator.

I find metalkid's calculator very easy to use, especially if you don't know the opponent's exact stats. It is based on evs, not stats, but if evs are really that confusing, you can use stats as well

CardsOfTheHeart is right, Metalkid's damage calculator has problems with moves that are determined by outside factors (Grass Knot and Gyro Ball also have this problem, iirc). Since that seem to be the case with Judgement as well, I would suggest using the damage calculator inked in Stellar's post (it's th eone use as well ;]).

Thanks for all of the help!

I think I will start using Libelldra's damage calculator. One last quick question, though: In the type effectiveness fields, if they are 4x weak to Ice, do I put 2x in both fields? Exactly how does that work & then I'll be set!

You got it. That's where you put the weakness/resistance of each type to the attack. For example, when you're using a Fighting attack against the Steel/Flying Skarmory, Type 1's effectiveness should be 2x and Type 2's effectiveness should be 0.5x.

That reminds me: does anyone know what Libelldra uses for average damage? I think I know what it does and should use, but I'm mostly looking for confirmation. I'll probably end up using the same thing for my calculator when I get around to it.

How exactly does the fast ball work? Smogon, suprisingly, does not have poke ball descriptions. From serebii, it says that it makes catching fleeing pokemon easier, but it also says that if the pokemon is generally fast, it makes it easier. Is it both, or one of the 2?

Does Stone Edge hit through Bounce and Fly?
I battled on Wifi once before, and apparently, it hits through a Gyarados's Bounce.

they meant by if the fleeing pokemon is faster(as in if your pokemon is slower)
the fast balls catch rate will double so it makes catching faster pokemon that flee easier(both)

If that's the case, then shouldn't Shoddy be like wifi? The animation makes sense, at least. Stone Edge flies up.The same direction as Fly.

Was the Stone Edge from a Machamp? Because if so, then that's normal. No Guard is awesome like that.

On a different note, toaster123 is wrong about Fast Balls. They have a better catch rate against Pokemon that flee (thank goodness that didn't survive past GSC) like Magnemite and Quagsire. However this didn't include the dogs.

Yes. Yes, it was from a Machamp.

I just hached a infernape which is modest natured and has fake out!
Ivs:31/X/31/31/31/31
Without RNG abuse.Anyone know a good set i can use?

Try this niche set used by Stathakis in one of his RMT's...

Infernape (M) @ Life Orb / Fist Plate
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 6 HP/252 Spd/242 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Nasty Plot
- Flamethrower / Fire Blast
- Vacuum Wave
- Focus Blast
---

Calculations against Blissey:

Life Orb: 668 Atk vs 380 Def & 652 HP (120 Base Power): 590 - 696 (90.49% - 106.75%)
Fist Plate: 668 Atk vs 380 Def & 652 HP (144 Base Power): 542 - 642 (83.13% - 98.47%)

What is this? Well for one, it's insurance against Lucario with Vaccuum Wave. For another, it can OHKO Blissey after a Nasty Plot and Stealth Rock with a STAB Focus Blast. Very few pokemon can claim to do that with a special attack. For a third point, if you use Fist Plate, you can bluff a Choice Item and wreck havoc later.

This works best on a hyperoffensive team. You may need Screen Support if you don't have balls of steel and a good intuition. But I'm not going to judge your piloting skills without having watched you play. Good luck!
