If I wanted a Scizor with equal defensive stats, how would I have to assign its EVs? It already has 252 Attack EVs, so how many in Sp Def would be required to bring its Sp Def up to the same level as its Defense?

Also, while I'm here, suggestions for the allocation of whatever EVs are left? It's a Battle Frontier/Single Player pokémon, so metagame concerns are irrelevant.

theres an event on there "Beyond the Sea" and it says you can unlock it by doing an international trade on the GTS.

well.. ive done one.. and gotten a japanese poke from the GTS.. but i didnt get the event?
Beyond the Sea is glitched, here's how I got mine.
1. Registered my location in the USA.
2. Browsed for a Japanese Pokémon and traded for it.
3. Offered a Pokémon for a Japanese Pokémon and eventually received it.
4. Put both of the Pokémon in my Pokéwalker one after the other.
That's what it took for me to get Beyond the Sea, most important step is 1

In order to answer your question we need to know the nature and the IVs of that Scizor.
It's Adamant, but I have no clue about its IVs. I haven't assimilated any data about IVs yet beyond knowledge of their existence, since I intend to complete the Battle Frontier before participating in the metagame.

I had been assuming IVs determined the value of a single point in a stat, as opposed to increasing the potential maximum. Thanks for clearing it up.

Hi, this is my first actual post in these forums, after lurking around for a few weeks.

...

Thank you if you answer this question.
I don't get your view, but there are a good amount of reasons to use Choice items. First of all, for hit and run. If you're planning on getting in, inflicting some pain, and getting out, you generally won't be boosting your stats, and 4 different moves aren't going to help you really. The Choice item lets you dent the opponent as much as possible before switching out when they bring in a counter. Secondly, Choice items are great for Trick and Switcheroo. If you plant a Choice item on a Pokémon that can't function with one, you pretty much render that Pokémon useless, and you get their item, which if it isn't good, you can always Trick or Switcheroo to another Pokémon. Really the only scenario I would prefer a Life Orb to a Choice item is if that Pokémon is setting up some serious boosts, or if it is getting some good boosts Baton Passed to it. But then again, Life Orb can only boost offensive stats, Choice Scarf boosts speed, while Band boosts Attack and Specs boost Special Attack, so they really aren't that limited

I recently lost my Pokewalker. Is it possible to get a new Pokewalekr without buying another copy of HG or SS?
If you're asking if Nintendo will replace it, no they won't. You have to buy a new HeartGold or SoulSilver, or buy a Pokéwalker from another person, or maybe you could order one off of the Internet, example: http://www.amazon.com/Pokémon-Pokéw...e=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1273335536&sr=8-1

Unless we had precies IVs and already existing EVs, we couldn't determine how to even the defenses for you. But I suggest using the Shoddy Team Builder, and plug in the nature, EVs, and assumed IVs until you get a perfect match to your Scizor, then you can assign Special Defense EVs until the Defense and Special Defense match up. Thanks for your advice, but I'm going to leave that alone for now - it is only for the Battle Frontier after all. I'll give it 200 Sp Def EVs and put the rest in Defense.

Any suggestions about a third pokémon for the BF/Tower? I've currently completed a Timid Alakazam (252 Sp Atk/252 Spe/4 HP) and that Scizor in an hour will be Adamant with (252 Atk/200 Sp Def/52 Def).

EDIT: I had been thinking Bastiodon with Toxic, Protect, Dig and Rest?

Sets like that are major gimmicks. How would you like that Bastiodon to run into a Skarmory or Crobat? But we don't really know what you should use as a 3rd Pokémon without knowing movesets and items of your other two Pokémon

Scizor: Adamant, Technician, Life Orb
(252 Atk/200 Sp Def/52 Def)
Swords Dance
Bullet Punch
Bug Bite
U-Turn

Alakazam: Timid, Inner Focus, Life Orb
(252 Sp Atk/252 Spe/4 HP)
Psychic
Signal Beam
Shadow Ball
Encore/suggestions?

As you can see, what I'm thinking so far is heavily offensive and I was thinking if anything has taken down my overpowering attackers, another brute-force attempt would likely be headed the same way.

Naturally, I'm open to suggestions. I love game theory and have no concept of offense, so slam what I have as idiotic if it is. Education shouldn't be hindered by inefficient social constructs.

If you're planning on running HO, you would do well to have a suitable lead. Azelf is the de facto standard, as it is the fastest Dual Screener. But you do hit 4-moveslot syndrome, since after the screens you'd like Taunt (to stop opposing Stealth Rock), your own Stealth Rock, and Explosion.

What is HO? "Heavy Offense" is the best I can infer from context.

I don't need to worry about Stealth Rock in the Battle Frontier.

Assuming you were referring to me, that is? I couldn't see any other post that seemed relevant, my apologies if I have assumed incorrectly. I'd still like to know what HO is, though.

Heavy or Hyper Offense

Heavy or Hyper Offense
Thanks for the clarification.

I hadn't chosen pure offense as any type of "theme", I chose Alakazam first intending to lead with it, for its speed and special attack in order to swiftly exterminate the majority of Frontier enemies. If the opponent NPC's lead is a Special Defense specialist (Blissey etc), Scizor is there to switch in and likely stay in too, once it's got Swords Dance running anyway. Then if faced with a Skarmory it has U-Turn to switch back to Alakazam and we begin again.

That's why I had trouble deciding on a third pokémon. With those bases covered, should I go for a heavily defensive stall on the basis that if my offensive pokémon are down another won't do any good, or should I go for a different lead who can set up Stealth Rock and/or Toxic Spikes?

I was playing on shoddy today and I noticed something. I had used substitute and taunted the other guy. The enemy's Clefable used fling, throwing a flame orb at me. The orb hit the sub, and my poke got burnt. Needless to say this screwed up my plan to focus punch. Should this have happened?

If I can disable Koga's Muk's Sticky Hold, can I then steal the Black Sludge and have it for keeps? I forget how that works with in-game trainers.
It seems easier than trying to get one from the Great Marsh.

I don't see why you couldn't go Physical. Dewgong's slow so you could take good advantage of Avalanche, and there's Ice Shard if you're in a situation of wanting to go first and can spare the moveslot. Ice Shard struggles to kill even stuff that's 4x weak though, but you could use it to dent a threat before it takes down Dewgong so your counter gets a free switch-in.
Aqua Tail and Waterfall are inferior to Surf though.

Dewgong is often forgotten, sadly, but I still love it...seems I'll have to build my own movesets...
What about Dual Screen Azelf, should Screens/SR/Explosion be used, and what about I do against Aerodactyl? Should I prepare a counter for it on my team if I'm running this?

You'll need to chain breed...
So...if I run DSElf on hyper offensive teams, should I use both Taunt and Explosion and carry someone else to use use SR or drop Taunt for SR? Also, if I use DS Deoxys-S, should I use SR over Taunt as well?

How does Beat Up Dugtrio beat Blissey? Is it because it bypasses EVs, IVs and Nature using just Blissey's base 10 defence? Is it worthy of a slot in Dugtrio if it's main role is to beat Blissey?
