not in OU since specs vaporeon outclas-i mean, no it dont work because of all the special walls, but sweeping milotic work just fine in UU.

Just something that I can't understand clearly no matter where I look for it.
Can Move Tutor-only moves get passed down to babies if the father knows them, but if they're not among the Egg moves of the baby? For example, will breeding something that has Headbutt with a female Totodile give me eggs of little Totodiles that know Headbutt (only in HG/SS, obviously)?

And I figured I should ask this as well. If I breed a male Eevee with, say, Curse, Yawn, Wish and Return with a Ditto, will the baby know these moves too?

Yeah, I mean, anything "works" in any tier, it's just a matter of the competition. In OU, Empoleon has better typing than Milotic, a substantially higher SpA stat than it has, nearly the same mixed bulk, Stealth Rock resistance (important on a choiced Pokemon), and Grass Knot. Vaporeon has the same typing as Milotic, higher SpA, similar mixed bulk, Signal Beam, and the ability to run Wish to help support more. Kingdra has just one weakness, the advantage of unpredictability as to whether it will be physical, special, or mixed, and access to Dragon STAB. Starmie has 115 Spe, Thunderbolt, and Trick. This is a lot of competition for a Specs Water-type, and it doesn't even count other potential Specs Surf-users like Latias!

That said, there are some niches for Specs Milotic. Its special bulk is tough to match, and not many choiced attackers can take hits like it can. It is also a terrific burn or Toxic absorber because of Marvel Scale (esp. given how often a Specs version is likely to switch). It is also faster than many other bulky waters, including Empoleon and Vaporeon. Also, most of the above examples have reputations as offensive Pokemon, while Milotic is known as a wall, so you have the surprise factor.

Sadly, tutor-only moves won't pass, so no army of baby Headbutt Totodiles. It's weird because the first ever move tutor moves (Crystal's Thunderbolt, Ice Beam and Flamethrower) actually did, but 3rd gen's tutor moves didn't, and neither do 4th gen ones.

For your second question, those WILL pass, since a male will pass egg moves (and TMs) if the baby can get them, and since male Eevee and Ditto produces an Eevee, of course Eevee can get them. In fact, genderless things can pass TMs if bred with a Ditto.

How often does a pokemon need to be used to land itself in OU? I heard it was 5%, but how come pokemon who have been under the required (I think it's the required) usage for OU not been dropped down yet?

As far as I know a pokemon has to be used 1 in every 20 teams to be considered OU. I think that's it.

Wifi automatically levels the Pokemon to 100, and the VGC is level 50, not 100. That said, the Elite 4 is the best place to grind levels.

I had no idea about the VGC.

So basically as long as you max out your pokemon's EVs and have the moves you want it doesn't matter if you're level 100 or not.

There are some subtle differences in ideal EV spreads. At level 50 EVs should be either a multiple of 8, or 4 plus a multiple of 8, depending on the IV in the same stat. As ever, it only really matters with speed - if there are Pokemon that want to outspeed stuff and don't run 252 speed, be sure to rework the speed EVs to do that at level 50)

Can someone help me out with an EV spread for a Zoom Lens Gardevoir for Doubles? It's got a Quiet nature and 0 Speed IV (best chance of Zoom Lens activating, plus I might re-use it for a Trick Room team at some point).

Moveset will be:
Will-o-Wisp
Charge Beam
Focus Blast
Wish / Psychic / Shadow Ball

Antar:

Since Focus Blast, Charge Beam, Psychic, and Shadow Ball are all special attacks, the obvious answer is to have 252 EVs in Special Attack. Moreover, Attack and Speed will be ignored. That leaves the defenses. Gardevoir's base Defense is lower than its base Special Defense, so it may make sense to allocate more of the remaining 258 EVs in Defense than Special Defense.

Not necessarily. It may make more sense to stack Special Defense, and try not to take physical hits - since even with a lot of investement Gardevoir's still going down to strong physical attacks. Though in fact it's probably best of all to put EVs in HP, benefitting both defences.

I think somewhere there is a utility to help you make best use of defensive EVs, But I don't know where.

I've always understood defensive Pokémon should always max out hp for that reason. Is there truth behind it? Like, what would the difference in damage be from a physical hit if say the hp was 252 and defence was 0 or the hp was 0 and defence 252?

Overall "bulk" is equal to the HP stat times the relevant defensive stat. (The actual stats, not base stats).

In general, if focussing on a single defense, you should invest in which is lower out of the defense or HP. But if you have a +defense nature, that increases the effect of EVs invested in that stat, which is where it gets complicated.

If you want to take hits on both side, it's even more complicated. Most Pokemon benefit from most investment in HP, but not all. Typically you will be looking to survive specific attacks. (In the case of that Gardevoir, maxing SpA may not be a good idea, if moving some of the EVs to a defensive attack helps you survive a hit you expect to take)

Thanks, everyone, for the replies. Especially since I'm running Charge Beam, I'm thinking of investing little-to-no EVs in SpA. That let's me only have to split the EVs among three stats. I'll probably end up playing with the damage calculator to try to maximize survivability against some of the more common attacks in doubles. This gal could potentially be a crazy tank.

I am missing something because I cannot seem to find Pain Split on shoddy battle for Gengar. I have opened the team in the smogon server.

Edit: nvm. It only shows HGSS moves when I start a team from scratch.

But, keep in mind that you do need some, if any, investment in Special Attack when running Charge Beam, because you still need the stats being boosted to be relatively high, or there's no sense in boosting them. For example, a level 1 Caterpie with +6 Attack really wouldn't be much different from a level 1 Caterpie with +- 0 Attack, but a level 100 Rampardos with +6 Attack would be a huge difference from +- 0 Attack. This example is a bit extreme, but you just have to think that +6 in any stat is that stat multiplied by 4 essentially, so the higher the number being multiplied, the greater the potential output

Would it be considered hacking or cheating if I used an AR to change a Pokemon from "shiny" to it's original colour? or if I used it to teach a Pokemon a move that would take a while for it to learn? (eg. Salamence and Draco meteor, you have to max it's happiness before the move tutor can teach it the move.)
