now that you mentioned, i would drop my question to only the second part, since gamefreak gave to all senere grace users a flinching move and/or thunder wave/body slam.

True but look at all the moves that flinch. Iron Head. Air Slash. Those are not the best types! It does make the metagame a little bit more interesting! Maybe haxing will go overboard to a point where major changes will occur! Like No Haxing Clause? Kind of stupid but it makes a little sense in my head!

there was once a hax clause, where the user that got haxed the most wins, it caused massive complains because of wrong battle results and etc, i dont know the details about it.

on the same note, remember jirachi is capable of killing heatran/magnezone with a combo of t-wave and iron head, it does not make the game more interesting, hax is the reason i retired to tell the true.

Oh wow really?
Well there's no way to stop hax; it is randomly generated. Luck is everywhere and we've to live with it! ^_^
I need to sleep. >_> Good Night

Ev allocation Question:

I currently have 6 Open Ev's for my Magnezone. My Special Def. IV isnt the greatest. Should I put the remaning in SpD or the rest in Atk (which has IV=30) to boost explosion. I'm thinking SpD? Multiple opinions might be nice on this...

thanks.

6 evs right? that wont really help at all, but i would put in atack only because 1 special defense point wont help you survive fire blasts and earth powers any day, but explosion enjoy any little possible boost.

Hey guys, I'm thinking of entering the compeditive scene in the near future but I have a few queries...

Firstly, Toxic Spike and The status "badly poisoned". Ok I know that the difference is the doubling in poison damage, but when 2 layers of toxic spikes are layed, or toxic is used, does switching out reset the doubling damage to regular poison or does the build up still occur? If the build up still occurs, does it start from square one or does it start where it left off.

Secondly, I would like to know if there a pokemon "banned in tiers". I heard from a friend that Wobbufet was banned from the Ubers tier... Also a list of banned attacks or attack combinations. I have looked for these in the Guides but to no success, a link would be fantastic.

Thirdly, pokemon I use in my teams are rarely in the Statergy guide yet they seem to be logical in their purpose. They are by no means absurd or gimmicky but my reason for EVing and Movesets seem pretty logical to me. No, I haven't tested them in shoddy yet but I just need an opinion on how badly they will be ripped apart or if they might catch shoddy battlers offguard.

Thanks for reading and answering (if possible) and I hope to see alot of people around for competitions in the near future :)

Vincento341:

To answer your first question, my explanatory notes for poison read: " Since "toxic" poisoning is treated as a different status problem from normal poisoning, it does not revert to normal poisoning by any means, even when a battle ends."

Ok but does the build up reset after switching out or does it continue where it left off?

Azbycx:

Yes. After Encore is used, the last move the opponent used overrides any move that opponent may have chosen: "During effect, opponent, during each of its turns, uses the last move it used before this attack was used"

Toxic buildup, whether caused by toxic spikes or from a move that inflicts it directly (like Toxic or Poison Fang), resets whenever a Pokémon switches out, and goes back to doing 1/16th damage when it comes back in (although it starts building up from there until the Pokémon is switched out again, etc.).

Secondly, I would like to know if there a pokemon "banned in tiers". I heard from a friend that Wobbufet was banned from the Ubers tier... Also a list of banned attacks or attack combinations. I have looked for these in the Guides but to no success, a link would be fantastic.
No Pokémon is banned from Ubers; that's the way that Ubers is defined. (However, you can't use Arceus on Shoddy Battle, even in Ubers, because there's a bug in the way Shoddy enforces its EV restrictions, meaning that it would be very easy to cheat if it were allowed; this is a restriction of Shoddy, though, rather than a restriction of Ubers, and in wi-fi games there's no issues with using an Arceus.)

Thirdly, pokemon I use in my teams are rarely in the Statergy guide yet they seem to be logical in their purpose. Most (all?) fully-evolved Pokémon have entries by now. If you're talking about using movesets or EV spreads, etc., that aren't in the guide, it's entirely possible; many teams will have sets that differ from the ones listed there on one or more Pokémon. What's listed is what Smogon's contributors believe to be the best sets for use on a wide variety of teams, but often you might want to adjust a Pokémon slightly to cover a weakness, etc.. That said, if you're using something very different from any of the sets given and not mentioned in Other Options, there's a chance you've come up with something that nobody else has thought of yet, but there's also a chance that what you're using is simply outclassed or has a major flaw; it's worth looking at the analyses anyway to see what they say about sets similar to yours. It's entirely possible for a gimmick set to catch someone offguard, but it tends to happen less often than you'd think; if I'm battling and see something I really don't expect (say, Sceptile in OU), I tend to look at the analysis to see how the Pokémon is typically used in its "native" tier, and also for unexpected features it might have (say, an unusual ability, or particular high stats, that might be the reason that the opponent was using it in the first place). (For instance, against said Sceptile, I might switch in a Skarmory, which would resist the types of most of the special attacks it would be likely to use, and has a high physical defence to resist a physical Sceptile, thus scouting its set and letting me switch to a more appropriate counter.)

Of course. Welcome to Smogon!

Uhh I'm trying to view my RMT draft, but it stops me saying I used 107 images, over the 100 limit, and I'm not even done elaborating on my lead. Is there anyway to remove this limit? Or shall I make a suggestion..

Sorry to ask again, but I gotta know. If smogon can't help me, then no one can.
Heya, looks like my question goes in here. So thren~

What happens if a pokemon if asleep and used sleep talk and that move selects dig, fly or bounce? What happens to the sleep timer? Would it affect the amount of turns until it wakes up?

Any if this is the wrong place or too tricky a question, someone point me to the right place. Thanks for reading.

ManWithaPlan:

Sleep Talk can never choose a two-turn attack such as Dig or Fly: "Doesn't choose the following: ... any two turn move ..."

AFAIK there is no way to change the limit, and honestly i think having 107 images in a whole RMT is far too extreme, and you say you haven't finished on your lead... I really don't think you should be making a RMT with that many, all they usually need is the team lineup's sprites, a picture for each individual pokemon, and the miniature sprites for the threat list.

Question: Shedninja

Ok 2 questions here,

1. Is Focus sash is allowed on Shedninja

and

2. Once a focus sash has been used on him, it won't reactivate again during the battle even after swiching out then in again.

Thanks a lot! I'm guessing this also applies for moves with recharge times like Hyper Beam?
No. Those moves can still be used.

Sleep Talk description says, "If Sleep Talk selects Blast Burn, Frenzy Plant, Giga Impact, Hydro Cannon, Hyper Beam, Roar of Time, or Rock Wrecker, Sleep Talk loses 1 PP when using the move, and if the user remains asleep next turn, Sleep Talk is forced to be selected for the recharge turn and loses another PP."

1. Yes.
2. Yes.
By the way, it's Shedinja not Shedninja =D

Haha I added images for the Move types, the Poké types, and for the team building process. That's because it was a lead Ninjask and I put in all Poké that has Taunt, Trick, Trick Room etc. in the threat list. I've stopped working on it now anyways, I'm changing teams =D

What do you guys think of Baton Pass Teams in the current metagame? I made one which thrashed almost everyone in the 1000 rating range, and boosted me up to about 1200, where I started losing battles thanks to excess Taunt, Trick, etc. The chains are also easily broken.

Azbycx means:
1. sash is allowed in the competitive community and it works (once every battle) on Shedinja. EDIT: Stealth Rock will kill even with Sash.
2. "No, it won't reactivate again" by saying yes.

Just for extra clarification, Focus Sash is consumed after use (it disappears from the Pokémon after its effect activates).
This means it only works once, even though Shedinja is still on full HP.
It also only works for direct damage from attacks, meaning it won't protect you from effects like Sandstorm, Stealth Rock or poison status.
