Ask a simple question, get a simple answer - mark 24 (READ THE OP)

This belongs in the RNG Help thread, but I'll answer it here:

Most likely it's because what you're looking for is not catchable in the game with your SID, the required IVs and the nature you have chosen. Caught shiny Pokémon with high IVs are much more difficult to obtain than non shiny ones because your SID dictates what IV and nature combinations can be caught shiny and which ones can't. Perfect IV caught shinies are usually caught by people who RNG'd their SID to allow this to be possible, though I have seen people who had perfect shiny spreads through sheer luck. Try breeding instead. Or, if you absolutely must catch it, lower your IV requirements.

Thanks, you were right. I had to adjust some of my IVs to get a shiny spreadsheet.

I just got Pokemon Soul Silver recently and when I check the Strategy Pokedex I don't see a tab for HeartGold/Soulsilver. Do I just use the Diamond/Pearl tab?

I'm looking for some help with the organization and layout of my timer program. Where can I post a request for this?

FYI, purely graphical help, no coding.

How does the Metronome item boost the power of multi-hit moves? Does it increase its power whenever it hits or when the user chooses the attack?

Hey, I just registered to this site. I've been playing Poke'mon since I was a kid. I'd really like to start competitive battling but I don't know much about it. Could someone help me find a tutor?

there is a tutor program but you have to wait for it to take another batch. See the battle 101 section. Of you could check the intro to competitive battling here

Hello Everyone

I am trying to breed a 31HP, 31Def, 31SDef pokemon. Now, the parents I am using have the following spread:

Male, 31HP, 31Def, holding a power band (I am using SS)
Female, 31Def, 31SDef, 31Spd(this IV was complete luck and not intended)

Here in lies my problem. All the offspring I keep getting with three inherited max IVs (7 so far) have all been 31HP(granted, due to the item), 31 Def, and frustratingly 31Spd.

I'm beginning to think Spd is taking precedence over SDef in some way, or am I just really unlucky?

Thanks in advance for any input, it's much appreciated.

when the user changes the attack. the boost is only applied on multiple selections of a move, not multiple executions. this means that moves that lock the user into the move for multiple turns will not boost for each time the user attacks, only when they select the move again.

If the daycare man says "They don't seem to like each other much."

How long will it take for them to make an egg?

Is there any way to speed up this process?

I have a question; if I have a Porygon that I bread with the Ability “Trace” that trace ability will turn into “Adaptability” when it later evolves into PorygonZ, right?

@xEsz: The mentioned phrase is the slowest of the three different egg production rates. There are 2 ways to speed up the process, 1. Breed Pokemon of different OT ID's, & 2. Breed Pokemon of the same species (e.g. Two Empoleon, 2 Pikachu, etc.) The two do stack up as well.

@PorygonX: Yes it will.

Only if you bred it in a 4th gen game; a 3rd gen Trace Porygon(2) has a 50% chance of changing to Download upon evolving. A 4th gen one will always turn into Adaptability.

You are just unlucky. You are just as likely to get 31 in Sp. Def. as in Speed.

Thanks guys, I wasn't sure about that 4th gen/3rd gen nuance thing. Mine is 4th gen bred so there shouldn't be a problem. Thanks again!

One more question for now; the Box Trick does still work in Generation IV (specifically, Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum), correct?
