Ask a simple question, get a simple answer - mark 24 (READ THE OP)

I recieved the Enigma Stone event Wonder Card and went to the Pewter City Museum and Steven wasn't there. Is there something I need to do beforehand? I have not beaten Red yet, or all of the gyms.

okay, i want to start competitive battling online
but first i need to work out a few things

how do people get so many leftovers in battle?

also, if i want to train SpD for my Blissey how do i level blissey up so she can train on those pokemon without wasting my EV's, where do i train to get no EV's

another thing, i want a weavile in my team as a physical sweeper, but im not sure if it will be best to evolve her straight away or wait?

if i start for example my blissey out to battle then switch to a stronger pokemon to fight does blissey get any EV's?

how do people get so many leftovers in battle? Trade for them, buy them, transfer them from other games owned etc. There are many ways.

also, if i want to train SpD for my Blissey how do i level blissey up so she can train on those pokemon without wasting my EV's, where do i train to get no EV's The daycare is a good place. Alternatively, Rare Candies or just use EV-reducing berries to get rid of EVs later.

another thing, i want a weavile in my team as a physical sweeper, but im not sure if it will be best to evolve her straight away or wait? Doesn't matter.

if i start for example my blissey out to battle then switch to a stronger pokemon to fight does blissey get any EV's? Yes, the full number.

I wouldn't use Bastiodon. It can't really take hits. Try another wall like Hippowdon, Skarmory, etc. There are many that are better.

If you are trying to get into battling, try taking and using one of the teams in the RMT forum. It is much easier to get into it with a team you know works.

how do people get so many leftovers in battle?
Hack it. You can buy an Action Replay, and get x99 Leftovers. Or, you can do this. In HG/SS. When you battle Snorlax, it is sure to hold Lefties by 100%, and therefore, by using Thief and by losing to it, you get the item, and Snorlax will still be there, with new Lefties. I highly suggest you use Haunter with this. Haunter is fucken fast for Snorlax, and obviously, with just any attack, it will die, as to Snorlax, dying to Crunch.

Blissey with Max HP and Max SpD with a Calm Nature that has Light Screen. I fucking doubt hard that it'll die to a Special Move. Fuck it. Even the most powerful, lol. Die Blissey. Die.

if i start for example my blissey out to battle then switch to a stronger pokemon to fight does blissey get any EV's?
By using EXP. Share, the pokemon that holds the item will also get the EV's.

Yeah? It can revenge kill a boosted sweeper, namely Lucario. By making it hold Focus Sash, it can kill Luke with a Metal Burst, assuming hazards ain't present. But lol, this doesn't make any sense. lol. But hell yeah, I agree, Hippowdon as a wall is fucking epic. Bronzong's usage is really getting low lately, will it go down to UU? lol.

BTW, since Elekid is pretty fast, being 95 Base speed, can it battle in UU? Or maybe in OU. Gyarados will die to Elekid's Tbolt, SR damage included.

And, where can I get those moving sprites? It's just so awesome.

Starting with OU, no. It can't even OHKO a 4x weak with a STAB base 95 power attack.

As for UU, probably not. It doesn't really beat many major threats and it is unlikely to sweep very much. It is really outclassed by other electric-types.

Not sure exactly whether I should ask this here or in the Wi-Fi Forum, so apologies ahead of time. I obtained three Crown Raikous from the recent event and SR for some decent ones that I plan to use semi-competitively (Battle Frontier, friends, local tourneys, maybe some wi-fi, etc.) I don't know how to RNG, so th IVs aren't excellent, but I ended up with these three and was wondering which would be best for a Calm Mind Sweeper.

Thanks much.

Can someone please explain to me more further, the battle style I really want to try, Heavy Offense. I really want to try it.

Basically, it is a style where you just keep the offensive pressure on at all times, so that your opponent's walls are overwhelmed and their sweepers have no chance to set up. Check out the RMT forum for examples.

Thanks much.

I'd go with the first.

It might have been a question of wording. He might have said "Does more damage" because of weaknesses/resistances, but short of that it makes no difference.

Could someone run a calc for me?
You see, I was battling a Starmie today with my Honchkrow. It has max Attack IVs & EVs.
Yet when I used Sucker Punch on the Starmie, Starmie lived with health in the red. I was completely surprised and it costed me the match.

So...how is it statistically possible for Starmie to survive that? Sorry if this seems like a stupid question, but I'd like to see the numbers here.

Why does STAB EQ do more damage than Non-STAB Focus Punch? The damage should be equal...
Clarifying on this. Weakness/Resistance can affect it, as well as the damage variation.

The damage formula for Pokemon has a multiplier at the end that is equal to randInt(85,100)/100. That means that if you get an 85 first, then a 100, the second hit will deal ~17.5% more damage (100/85).

Two simple questions:
1) Is the Smogon server on Pokemon Online just for tourneys and stuff, or should I use that for ladder matches instead of the PO server?
2) What's a good way to stop Wish-Protecting?
