Okay, I have had this question on my mind for quite some time now.
Recently, I have been EV training bred Pokemon to create the "perfect" Pokemon team. (Hardy har har. They are FAR from "perfect" or even WiFi Battle-ready.)
But, that's besides the point. I've been breeding Pokemon that have evolutions that are basically instant. For example, I recently bred a Jolly Riolu, and then befriended it, ASAP. Then, I proceeded to EV train it's Speed and Attack. (That is the correct way right? ['Cause I Rare Candied the Riolu as a Level 1 without any EVs or vitamins. {It was fresh from the egg, so to speak.}]) (Much like Porygon. I traded it at level 1 with upgrade, and then traded back with Dubious Disc, for a level 1 Porygon-Z. [Did I do that correctly?! Great, now I'm second-guessing my entire style of breeding. -.-])
So now, after studying Smogon and Serebii, and plenty of first-hand experiences, I really want a Swampert. (My battle tower team isn't very good...And I refuse to use Trick! That's just cheap.)
How exactly do I breed the so-called "perfect" Swampert?
Do I obtain a Mudkip, and then stick it in the daycare until it's level 15 and then forcefeed it a rare candy, and then repeat at level 36, and then EV train it? (AKA, no vitamin touches the Pokemon's muddy lips until it's a Level 36 Swampert.)
Or do I EV train that lil Mudkip on the spot, right then and there, right away?
Any and all help is much appreciated!
Than Kew.
It's just a preference. I personally like to take a level 100 Pokémon with 510 EVs, and the new level 1 Pokémon with 0 EVs, give the level 1 an EXP. Share, give the level 1 Pokérus, and then go fight Pokémon that award the desired EVs because you get EVs whenever you get experience, even if you don't actually fight. You always could Rare Candy it up to a level where it could fight for itself, but it's kind of pointless in my opinion.
