Could someone explain why Taunt is such a good move? I know that Gyrados is one of the better taunters, but what is the strategy around it? You taunt the pokemon and then what? It attacks you with a move. Or is it supposed to be like phazing?

`Proto

Well, it prevents them from powering up, which is very important.

Like, say you're fighting a BDZard. Using Taunt will ruin the whole point of him, as he can't use his most important move; Belly Drum. See what I mean?

Do most standard Heras run any defense (EDIT: and HP, if you please)? If so, how much?

This is for damage calcs, I'm considering using my TR team in OU. >_>

Also, are Stone Edge variants on Hera still common? I saw some sets that sacrifice it for AA for opposing Heras in the classic fight fire with fire principle, or just because its accuracy sucks. =/

With the new changes (gliscor) in the DP generation, is MCIceGar still useable? Anyone want to suggest an ev spread and nature for it? Ice punch or HP ice?

For most Blaziken sets, I usually see Blaze Kick. But would Fire Punch be a good substitute? I know its a 10 base power drop, but I don't like the lack of accuracy on Blaze Kick.

Would this be a good set?

"Blaziken's attack didn't miss" set

Blaziken @ Item X (don't know a good item for it ATM)
EV Spread X (don't know)
Nature: X (Adamant, Jolly, w/e is best)

- Fire Punch / Flare Blitz
- Brick Break
- Swords Dance
- ThunderPunch

See? This set is using Fire Punch or Flare Blitz over Blaze Kick. Brick Break over Sky Uppercut. Would this set be good? Just wondering. Because when the Base Power isn't really much higher than the former, I go with accuracy. Only times I go with power is in cases like Overheat Vs Flamethrower, in which I'd be gaining a 55 base power by using Overheat, despite the fact I'm losing 10 accuracy.

So, this set has all 100% accuracy move, instead of Dynamic Punch and Blaze Kick.

Some Choice Band Heracrosses run 104 HP, but that's the most defensive you should encounter.

At least 95% of Heracross have Stone Edge.

@Yoko Rains: Stick Baton Pass over Thunderpunch. Otherwise, just use Infernape, who gets Close Combat and better Speed.

Yes, Marowak's Fire Punch still OHKOs. :'D Thanks. *LAWLSDEFENSIVESPREAD*

Anyone know a good moveset for a Relaxed Claydol? I want to use it for Trick Room.

^ I'm pretty sure they don't (like wrap, and bind, if that's the same kind).

How does Perish Song work when you switch out?

If you Mean Look + Perish song, is it a guaranteed KO on the other side? If the Pokemon that used Perish Song (like Politoed, rofl) faints before the three turns are up, does the other Pokemon still fall to perish song? (But mean look would disappear right?)

And if you Baton Pass, are you Baton Pass-ing the perish song count? Or would switching just be better?

This is hypothetical of course, since Politoed can't mean look (but it could whirlpool).

Ice Beam is always useful to hit stuff in general, and you can even elect to use Earth Power so you don't have to split EVs, but Earthquake/Ice Beam with a Relaxed nature does complement the TR theme pretty well. The last slot can have a bunch of things; Calm Mind to power up if you use Earth Power, Explosion to go out with a bang, Reflect/Light Screen for utility, Rapid Spin if you need it, etc.

I answered it. And no, the trapping effect disappears if the user switches.

Alright thanks.

Next question:

Can the trapping effect be Baton Passed, i.e. Blaziken using Fire Spin + Baton Pass?

Can they still switch out if they have a Shed Shell even if they're trapped with the move?

To my knowledge, the only Pokemon that resists EQ+Ice Beam is Bronzong. Great coverage, and Reflect/Light Screen usually either gets stalled out or killed by a surprise Brick Break, used by some physical sweepers who lack CC and don't like Focus Punch. Rapid spin because Claydol resists all secondary damage with Ground-type and levitate.

What should the EV Spread be on the Claydol?
As a Trick Room user myself, I tend to focus on defenses. It really depends what you want Claydol to be, in this case a physical wall. 252 HP is a must, since Base 60 HP sucks. You may want to split evenly between the defenses, but put at least little bit into SD, even if you want a Defense-oriented spread. It's up to personal preference, really.

@Yoko- Analyses don't usually have Trick Room sets. >_> I had to come up with my Vespiquen set and spread by myself, and my work's paid off. :'D
