A poison-type Pokemon cannot be poisoned by any move. You _can_ poison a grass type, it's just a lot of the common ones are dual grass/poison.

Dizzy punch is physical in all generations it appears in.

Hammering the Elite 4 with a high-level amulet coined sweeper will be one of the quickest ways to make money. Even if it's not the highest amount per battle, it's the only late game option where the battles are always available, no waiting.

I thought so.. Thanks!!

My simple question: how can I figure out my Secret ID in my ADV games? I own: Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, and FireRed. I'd love to know what my Secret ID on each of those games are.

If there is a simple way of figuring it out, please elaborate on how to obtain it. If it's complex then I'm sure there must be an article here somewhere on Smogon that someone already tells you how to figure out your SID in the ADV games. And hopefully I don't need to shark the game or use/buy a GBA AR to figure it out through some cheat code. Thanks in advance to whoever can answer my question.

The SID won't be changed when you Pal Park a Pokemon. So if you have a DS AR, Pal Park Pokemon from the third gen games to the DS and find out that way. If you don't own any AR, then Pal Park the Pokemon and trade one to someone on this site who does.

If you don't want any AR involved, anywhere, then you'll have to wait until you find a random Shiny in your third gen games. (Personally I'd say if you or anyone else uses AR to find your SID and then you RNG manipulate for a bunch of shinies those shinies are not entirely legit.)

If you have a captured shiny in any of those games you can use the IVs->SEED function in RNG Reporter to figure it out or use this article.

If you do not, then you are stuck using the advice in the previous post.

Well, I'd hate to do it through an AR, but my friend does have one. I suppose I could ask him to check the SID's for me. Just give him one of each Pokemon that I Pal Parked from each of my cartridge games.

Also, is it a cheat code you have to put it? If it is, don't post it in a reply post, just message it to me and I'll write it down and give it to him whenever I see him and just go on from there. (And, can't you figure out your SID in-game through the Lottery or something like that? Like if I won, they'd tell me what numbers they are and I'd figure out which game it's for.)

I think lottery goes on Trainer ID (which is visible anyway). Besides, your chance of winning the lottery is less than your chance of encountering a random shiny.

I'm playing through Silver right now, and was wondering which moves work off Attack and Special Attack, since in DPPt, they divided it up into Physical and Special moves. Was just wondering how it was determined before the Physical/Special split which moves were calculated using a Poke's Attack and Special Attack stat.

It's by type.

Normal, Fighting, Ground, Flying, Poison, Rock, Bug, Ghost, and Steel are physical.
Fire, Water, Grass, Electric, Ice, Dragon, Dark, and Psychic are special.

Are moves teached by the use of TM less powerful that if the same pokemon learnt it naturally? I think the power of the attack is the same and TMs don't affect the outcome but I would like to have it checked.

If I evolve a pokemon (Staryu, for example) very late will it have worse stats? Should I try to seek MT Recover and evolve it as soon as possible instead to wait for level 27?

Thanks in advance

No. Whether a Pokemon learns a move naturally or by TM doesn't matter at all.

And no, when a Pokemon is evolved doesn't matter at all.

There is no difference in power between a TMed and a learnt move. However, a move of the same type as the Pokemon (normal type included) gets a 50% power boost. Since Pokemon tend to learn moves of their own type, and get moves of other types by TM, that gives the false impression that TMs are weaker.

When you evolve doesn't impact ultimate stats. However, in the case of Pokemon that evolve by stone, it affects movesets. Most Pokemon stop learning moves after stone evolution; Eevee is the exception.

Is there a guide for Stat EXP training pokemon in RBY? Like how will I know I have maxed out there Stat Exp? I know you can use the Box Trick to increase the Stat EXP of a Lv 100 Pkmn, but is there a way to increase the Stat EXP of Low Leveled pokemon (for the different stadium rules in Pokemon Stadium without raising there Level too high?

Here you go, this is the guide/site that Hipmonlee linked me to when I asked for RBY help: http://www.math.miami.edu/~jam/azure/compendium/training.htm

All your questions and questions in the future about RBY stuff should be on that site. And if they're not on there, than I suppose this thread is where your unanswered questions belong.

So since I lost my DS I decided to restart FireRed. This is what my team looks like after the 2nd badge.

Ivysaur @ Lv.25
Mankey @ Lv.24

I plan on attaining a Growlithe.
My toss-up for a Water-type will either be Vaporeon or Lapras. Which one do you think I should take?
I want to try and use Pokemon I've never used in the playthrough before.

Any other Pokemanz I should consider getting?

FireRed/LeafGreen discussion belongs in Ever Grande City - that's for all the GBA games.

I'd go Vaporeon. Generally in-game you just want to attack, and Vaporeon's got a great SpA. Lapras gives you STAB ice for taking down Lance along with the common flying types, but the lower SpA means it won't gain so much against Vaporeon. Lapras also gets TBolt, making it good against opposing waters, but you've already got Ivysaur for them.

I heard someone say "Smogon still lists Celebi as uber" and it doesnt show as uber on netbattle whilst its listed as uber on the tier list so idk. A guy also used it against me on netbattle too. So my question is, is Celebi actually uber or is usable in standard play or does it differ from site to site ?

Input would be greatly appreciated. ^^

I'm using a Pikachu for in-game use. (Ash team playthrough, before you ask why.)

It'll have Thunderbolt, Hidden Power Water 60, and Rock Smash. For a fourth move I'm thinking either Agility or Thunder Wave. What would you recommend?

(Yes I know Rock Smash is useless. I don't have a designated HM mule, so every Poke has to take at least one HM.)

EDIT: I did get a Light Ball btw. So I think a physical attack would probably be pointless in the slot.

What team do you recommend me to train for the Battle Tower in Emerald? I don't have trained pokes there (unlike Diamond/SoulSilver), and I need to get BPs in order to complete some Breeding Projects, but I am getting frustrated at the amount of hax that the Battle Factory gives me.

If Battle Tower isn't the best way to earn BPs, what other facility do you recommend?

for the second one id recommend the battle dome as its pretty short and you earn more points as you exceed(regarding my experience at least).

That's great! I'm guessing hard-hitting sweepers do well in the Battle Dome, am I right?
