What commands can only seen by me when I type in the chat?
On another note, what does it mean to have your rank auto-confirmed? I see "you must be rank autoconfirmed or higher to talk right now" in every chat-room on PS, and I'm confused about its meaning.
yes I'm an idiot for deleting this same exact post earlier.

Any command that's followed by a slash ( / ) is only visible by you. You can type /help to see an available list of commands you can use. By extension, commands followed by an exclamation mark ( ! ) instead of a / will be broadcasted to everyone in the same room / battle you're in. They can only be used if you are Voiced (+) rank or higher.

Autoconfirmed rank means that you must win at least one ladder battle and be registered for a minimum of a week before you are able to talk in chats with that setting. It's used to drown out potential spammers / trolls.

Hi, I`m here for some help. On Pokemon showdown, if my initial strategy wont work, my top crime boss gets beaten or my team is doing terribly, i rage quit. And i want it to stop, i`m not like most people, who rage quit for a reason. If i rage quit, i RAGE quit. i get angry etc.

So, have you guys got anything on stopping me from rage quitting, heck, tell me tips to be happy about a battle, anything. I just want to stop rage quitting!

battling is a learning process in itself. yes there will be times where you lose but you will learn from your losses. If you lose a match, instead of getting angry, improve your team - is there a common strategy your team keeps losing to? if so, try and improve your teams matchup against those pokemon. visit the competitive tutoring and rmt room to get advice on your team, and build on your skills from there. when you lose a match, show good sportsmanship - there's nothing wrong with losing! its all about having fun. good Luck! n_n

Thanks for the tips, instead of announcing my anger, i just say it in RL and stop myself from announcing anger. I also have improved my team by adding a fairy type to defeat those pesky darkrai`s and dragon types. I`m going to post my team on the `rate my team` forum section!

There's no need for you to get angry. I've lost many battles, but I just shrug it off, because it isn't the end of the world! Like I said, it's all part of a learning process and you should be learning from your mistakes, rather than getting angry or worked up. laddering is also not the primary way to get better at competitive battling. Battling 101 is a tutoring programme; a new round starts every 4 weeks, so I advise you to sign up for the tier you want to improve at.

When exactly does the game warn us about endless loops?

I (kmph) got this warning here, turn 83:
http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/seasonalsuperstaffbrosmelee-354304062

According to the game I was in an endless loop. But this wasn't really endless - while I could heal all damage thrown at me, the opponent's pp was slowly but surely declining and as soon as they were locked down to Struggle I won (on turn 101).

In this particular situation, could the game kick me off and make me loose for endless looping?

I'm just asking because I don't really wanna loose for unintentionally triggering this warning again... ;P And I don't really understand why I got this warning here.

EDIT: I found this post, Ask A Simple Question, Get A Simple Answer - PS! Edition (please read before posting a thread) , I suppose this answer still applies?

Am I allowed to post a thread in Pokemon Showdown! about /DT and /Data shortening suggestions and why we should shorten them?
Or does that already exist and I'm not a part of it?

If you have a suggestion about Pokemon Showdown!, post it in this thread.

This is a really late reply, but you can read about exactly what causes the endless battle message to come up here: http://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/3544604/page-3#post-6338547

Basically, in that case your Shuckle hadn't lost any PP or HP in several turns. Though, to actually have anything happen from this, both Pokemon on the field has to trigger that message and it was impossible for Marshtomp to do that. So you're fine, the message is just a notice and not that harmful (unless you're trying to force an endless battle, in which case it will stop you)

Can I ask something?
I'm kinda new :)
Because of a Serene Grace flinch team in AnythingGoes that I encountered a little bit ago
Shaymin-Sky(Serene Grace) tries to flinch my Clefable (Magic Guard-equipped)
And my Clefable doesn't flinch.
Not even once.
I tried Googling about the ability Magic Guard, but it doesn't say it prevents flinching...
Anyone know?

Its a 60% flinch chance, so you just got pretty lucky and avoided the flinches.

When you do the command "/ms Smeargle", why does the moves "Captivate, False Swipe, Mean Look, Odor Sleuth, Sketch, Sleep Talk and Spore" pop up, but nothing else?

When playing Pokemon on cardridge online, there is a fixed Time Limit for preforming a turn (1 minute) and a fixed Time Limit for the entire game (1 hour)

Is Pokémon Showdown considering on implementing something similar in the future?

This could make games shorter giving people an easier time to find a battle, some people might want to take advantage of it as a win condition like in the actual cardridge experience, unknown endless battle conditions won't last for too many turns and maybe some people don't have to worry getting insulted when using the Timer or not.

There are no plans to adapt those rules afaik.

Why? Well a 3/5 minute (i forget) timer per turn is the perfect amount of time to think about your moves/consider options/do calcs, should you need to, and enhance the competitive experience. It doesn't lead to super long battles because people rarely need that full length of time and if they take a long time to make a move in one turn, they get less the turn after. If and when people stall out the timer just to waste your time, you can call global staff to come and intervene. As for the hour thing specifically, we would rather let players carry out a battle as long as they feel they have a chance to win. Even a near unlosable battle can be choked away by the opponent/won by hax.

As for your concerns about endless battles, we have a clause in place to prevent that and all known methods of endless battle are no longer possible on ps afaik. Lastly, turning on the timer is your right as a player on PS. If someone is flaming you for it, you can always contact global staff from the help room.

This isn't directly related to PS!, but I'd like to point out that the "Pokémon Showdown Hints, Tips, Commands and Tricks" link (in the "Pokémon Showdown rules and guides" thread) isn't working. It keeps telling me that the page can't be found.

Where i can register in?
looked [Unofficial server link removed] and http://play.pokemonshowdown.com/
sites over 30mins.. still cant find where to register in...

Help this noob please :)

[Moved to the SQSA thread]
The button to register your account will display after you win a rated battle, or alternatively through the options menu, which can be accessed by clicking the grey cog in the top right hand corner of the screen.

Before I begin, I'm sort of new here and pre-apologize if I'm posting a question like this in the wrong place.

I downloaded Pokemon Showdown onto my computer, and, for some reason, music doesn't play during the battles even when audio is un-muted or at a setting above 0. Is there a way to fix this, or is it just a "beta is beta is beta" thing?

Hello starmanDX28

If you can't play the music on the downloadable version, it is normal because there is simply no sound on it.

If you want to play with the music you have to move on the online version.
