Overview
########

Azumarill's HP, Defense, and Special Defense stats make it fairly bulky. Its ability Huge Power gives Azumarill extra offensive presence, doubling its Attack stat. It also has a good movepool to help take advantage of Huge Power. However, Azumarill has some trouble with its rather low base 50 Speed stat, but this can be patched up with Trick Room support or Aqua Jet. Azumarill can easily sweep teams if it gets a lead advantage or a boost from Belly Drum, though without that boost Azumarill can be somewhat underwhelming.

Belly Drum
########
name: Belly Drum
move 1: Belly Drum
move 2: Aqua Jet
move 3: Play Rough
move 4: Protect
ability: Huge Power
item: Sitrus Berry
evs: 244 HP / 252 Atk / 12 SpD
nature: Adamant

Moves
========

Belly Drum maximizes Azumarill's Attack stat at the cost of 50% of its HP. Aqua Jet is a devastating priority STAB attack when at +6, hitting Ground-, Rock-, and Fire-types for super effective damage. Play Rough hits Pokemon that resist Aqua Jet hard, such as Amoonguss and Dragon-types in general. Protect helps bide time and keeps Azumarill out of danger from Pokemon trying to revenge kill it.

Set Details
========

An Adamant nature and maximum Attack investment let Azumarill hit as hard as possible. 244 HP EVs maximize Azumarill's overall bulk and let Azumarill activate its Sitrus Berry after using Belly Drum from full health. If Azumarill is used on a team with Icy Wind and Electroweb support, use 92 Speed EVs to let Azumarill outspeed -1 Adamant Breloom. If this is not a problem, 12 Speed EVs let Azumarill outspeed -1 uninvested Rotom-A.

Usage Tips
========

Use Belly Drum the first opportunity Azumarill gets. Sometimes, Azumarill won't be able to pull off a Belly Drum; in such cases, simply use it as a Fairy-type that happens to have STAB Aqua Jet.

Team Options
========

Raichu and Amoonguss are excellent at redirecting Thunderbolts and generally help Azumarill pull off a Belly Drum. Other Lightning Rod users, such as Mega Sceptile, Rhyperior, and Rhydon, can pull this off too. Fake Out support from Mega Kangaskhan, Scrafty, Mega Lopunny, Infernape, and Raichu also helps Azumarill set up a Belly Drum. Mega Lopunny and Infernape both have a fast Encore to supplement Fake Out. Fire- and Grass-types complete a Fire / Water / Grass core alongside Azumarill. Steel- and Dragon-types help complete a Steel / Fairy / Dragon core.

Choice Band
########
name: Choice Band
move 1: Aqua Jet
move 2: Play Rough
move 3: Waterfall
move 4: Superpower
ability: Huge Power
item: Choice Band
evs: 252 HP / 228 Atk / 28 Def
nature: Adamant

Moves
========

Aqua Jet has +1 priority and gains STAB, helping Azumarill pick off weakened foes or clean up late-game. Play Rough and Waterfall are Azumarill's main STAB attacks, packing a 10% chance to lower the foe's Attack and 20% chance to cause the target to flinch, respectively. Superpower hits Steel-types such as Ferrothorn and OHKOes Mega Kangaskhan as well at the cost of lowering Azumarill's Attack and Defense by one stage after use.

Set Details
========

252 HP and 28 Defense EVs let Azumarill survive Jolly Mega Kangaskhan's Double-Edge. The remaining EVs are distributed to Azumarill's Attack stat and an Adamant nature is used to let Azumarill hit as hard as possible. If your team has Icy Wind and Electroweb support, consider that 92 Speed EVs let Azumarill outspeed -1 Adamant Breloom, while 12 Speed EVs let Azumarill outspeed -1 uninvested Rotom-A. If using Azumarill on a Trick Room team, a Brave nature and 0 Speed IVs are recommended.

Usage Tips
========

Choice Band Azumarill works best a late-game cleaner or, at the very least, as a Pokemon in the back. Leading with it doesn't do too much except bluff a Belly Drum set. In particular, Choice Band Azumarill can knock out specific threats on your opponent's team with Aqua Jet.

Team Options
========

Amoonguss provides redirection support with Rage Powder and resists Azumarill's weaknesses. Mega Kangaskhan, Mega Lopunny, Scrafty, and Infernape all support Azumarill with Fake Out; Infernape and Mega Lopunny can support it with Encore as well. Cresselia and Chandelure are two Trick Room setters that work well alongside Azumarill. Icy Wind allows Azumarill to outspeed foes in the uninvested base 80 Speed range as well as -1 base 70 Speed Pokemon with neutral natures and full Speed investment.

Perish Song
########
name: Perish Song
move 1: Perish Song
move 2: Scald / Muddy Water
move 3: Light Screen
move 4: Protect
ability: Sap Sipper
item: Sitrus Berry / Leftovers
evs: 252 HP / 108 Def / 148 SpD
nature: Sassy / Calm

Moves
========
Perish Song allows Azumarill KO both foes when coupled with Shadow Tag or, in rare instances, Arena Trap. Scald and Muddy Water can cause a burn and accuracy drop respectively, and they stop Azumarill from being complete Taunt bait. Light Screen reduces the damage Azumarill and its partners take from special attacks, allowing you to stall Perish Song longer. Protect guarantees one turn of Perish Song stalling.

Set Details
========
252 HP and 108 Defense EVs let Azumarill survive a Double-Edge from Adamant Mega Salamence and Adamant Mega Kangaskhan. 148 Special Defense EVs give Azumarill an 87.5% chance to live Timid Life Orb Thundurus's Thunderbolt. Sap Sipper prevents Pokemon such as Mega Charizard Y and Amoonguss from KOing Azumarill and stopping Perish Song. Huge Power is useless because Azumarill won't be attacking. Sitrus Berry provides immediate recovery while Leftovers recovers bits over time, which is sometimes useful on Perish Trap teams, especially if the Sitrus Berry item slot is taken.

Usage Tips
========
Get the Perish Song off as soon as possible and use Protect to stall out turns. Use Light Screen to help your Shadow Tag Pokemon and only use Scald or Muddy Water when it's necessary. Always keep a trapper in along with Azumarill so to prevent the foes from breaking free of Shadow Tag.

Team Options
========
Shadow Tag Pokemon such as Mega Gengar, Gothitelle, and Eviolite Gothorita are a must for taking advantage of Perish Song. Amoonguss helps stall time under Perish Song with Spore, natural bulk, and redirection. Liepard with Fake Out and Encore makes for a great lead with Mega Gengar, especially if it's carrying Disable to support Encore. Prankster Encore also punishes Protects and Fake Outs, allowing you to stall for more turns.

Other Options
########

Knock Off is usable over Superpower on the Choice Band set; the other two sets don't enjoy giving up a moveslot for it. Helping Hand and Icy Wind can be used on more support-oriented sets, but these usually forgo Belly Drum. Ice Punch is another option on Choice Band, but the only notable things it's hitting are Flying- and Grass-types. Double-Edge is also an option on Choice Band when you wish to opt for a large damage move with decent coverage.

Checks & Counters
########
**Grass-types**: Ferrothorn, Mega Venusaur, and Amoonguss all take negligible damage from Azumarill and can KO back or do a lot of damage, unless Azumarill has Sap Sipper, in which case the only one of these that's normally threatening Azumarill too much is Mega Venusaur.

**Electric-types**: Thundurus, Rotom-W, and Zapdos all KO Azumarill with Thunderbolt. Zapdos and Thundurus don't enjoy taking +6 Aqua Jets, Azumarill must be kept from boosting beforehand.

**Taunt**: Taunt stops the Belly Drum and the Perish Song sets from setting up.

Perish Song lets you Azumarill KO both opponents foes when coupled with Shadow Tag or, (AC) in rare instances, (AC) Arena Trap. Scald and Muddy Water both have useful secondary effects, which are a burn and an accuracy drop respectively, and they as well as stop Azumarill from being complete Taunt bait. (no need for new paragraph) Light Screen reduces the damage Azumarill and its partner will be taking, allowing you to stall Perish Song longer. Protect is a must to have a guaranteed turn of Perish Song stalled.

EVs:
252 HP and 108 Defense EVs let Azumarill live a Double-Edge from an Adamant Mega Salamence and Adamant Mega Kangaskhan Double Edge. 148 SpD Special Defense EVs give Azumarill a 87.5% chance to live Timid Life Orb Thundurus's-I Thunderbolt. Sap Sipper prevents Pokemon such as Mega Charizard Y and Amoonguss from KOing Azumarill and stopping Perish Song. Huge Power is useless because since Azumarill won't be attacking. Sitrus Berry provides immediate recovery while Leftovers recovers bits over time, which is sometimes useful on Perish Trap, especially if the Sitrus Berry item slot is taken.

Usage Tips
========
Get the Perish Song off as soon as possible and use Protect to stall out turns. (comma -> period) Use Light Screen to help your Shadow Tagger Pokemon and only use Scald or Muddy Water. Always keep a trapper in along with Azumarill so to not allow your foes opponent to break free of Shadow Tag.

Team Options
========
Shadow Taggers Pokemon such as Mega Gengar, Gothitelle, and Eviolite Gothorita are a must for taking advantage of Perish Song. Amoonguss helps stall time under Perish Song with Spore, natural bulk, and redirection. Liepard with Fake Out and Encore makes for a great Shadow Tag lead with Mega Gengar, especially if it's carrying Disable to augment Encore. Prankster Encore also punishes Protects and Fake Outs, allowing you to stall more turns.

Other Options
########

Knock Off is usable over Superpower on the Choice Band set; (comma -> semi) the other two sets don't enjoy giving up a moveslot for it, (AC) though. Helping Hand and Icy Wind can be used on more support-oriented sets, but these usually forego Belly Drum. Ice Punch is another option on Choice Band, but the only notable things it's hitting are Flying- and Grass-types. Double-Edge is also an option on Choice Band when you wish to opt for a large damage move with decent coverage.

Checks & Counters
########
**Grass-types**: Ferrothorn, Mega Venusaur, and Amoonguss all take negligible damage from Azumarill, (RC) and can KO back or do a lot of damage, unless you're Azumarill has Sap Sipper, (AC) in which case the only one of these that's normally threatening you too much is Mega Venusaur.

**Electric-types**: Thundurus, Rotom-W, and Zapdos all KO Azumarill with Thunderbolt. Zapdos and Thundurus don't enjoy taking +6 Aqua Jets, (AC) so they will try to prevent it Azumarill from boosting beforehand.

**Taunt**: Taunt stops Belly Drum and the rare Perish Song set.

Overview
########

Azumarill's HP, Defense, and Special Defense stats make it fairly bulky. Its ability Huge Power gives Azumarill extra offensive presence, doubling its Attack stat. It also has a good movepool to help abuse Huge Power. However, Azumarill has some trouble with its rather low base 50 Speed stat, but this can be patched up with Trick Room support or Aqua Jet. Azumarill can easily sweep teams if it gets a lead advantage or a boost from Belly Drum. If Azumarill doesn't get the boost, however, it can be somewhat underwhelming.

Moves

Belly Drum maximizes Azumarill's Attack stat at the cost of 50% of its HP. Aqua Jet is a devastating STAB attack when at +6, hitting Ground-, Rock-, and Fire-types for super effective damage, (RC) and having +1 priority. Play Rough hits hard against Pokemon that who resist Aqua Jet. Protect helps bide time and keep Azumarill out of danger from Pokemon such as Choice Band Talonflame, (AC) which will who try to revenge kill it.

Set Details
========

An Adamant nature and maximum Attack investment let Azumarill hit as hard as possible. 244 HP EVs maximize Azumarill's overall bulk and let Azumarill activate its Sitrus Berry after using Belly Drum from full health. If Azumarill is used on a team with Icy Wind and Electroweb support, 92 Speed EVs let Azumarill outspeed -1 Adamant Bisharp. If this is not a problem, 12 Speed EVs let Azumarill outspeed -1 uninvested Rotom-A.

Usage Tips
========

Use Belly Drum the first opportunity Azumarill gets. Sometimes, Azumarill won't be able to pull off a Belly Drum; in such cases, simply use it as a Fairy-type that happens to have STAB Aqua Jet.

Team Options
========

Raichu and Amoonguss are excellent at redirecting Thunderbolts and generally help Azumarill pull off a Belly Drum. Other Lightningrod users, such as Mega Sceptile, Rhyperior, and Rhydon, can pull this off, too. Fake Out support from Mega Kangaskhan, Scrafty, Mega Lopunny, Infernape, and Raichu also help Azumarill set up a Belly Drum. Mega Lopunny and Infernape both support Azumarill well with fast Encore to supplement Fake Out. Fire- and Grass-types help Azumarill complete the Fire-Water-Grass core. Steel- and Dragon-types help complete a Steel-Fairy-Dragon core.

Play Rough and Waterfall are Azumarill's main STAB attacks, packing a 10% chance to lower Attack and 20% chance to flinch its target respectively. Superpower hits Steel-types such as Ferrothorn, (RC) and OHKO's OHKOes Mega Kangaskhan as well, (RC) at the cost of lowering Azumarill's Attack and Defense by one stage each after use.

Set Details
========

252 HP and 28 Defense EVs let Azumarill survive Jolly Mega Kangaskhan's Double-Edge. The remaining EVs are distributed to Azumarill's Attack stat and an Adamant nature is used to let Azumarill hit as hard as possible. If you team has Icy Wind and Electroweb support, 92 Speed EVs let Azumarill outspeed -1 Adamant Breloom, while 12 Speed EVs let Azumarill outspeed -1 uninvested Rotom-A. If Azumarill is being used on a Trick Room team, a Brave nature and 0 Speed IVs is recommended.

Usage Tips
========

Choice Band Azumarill works best as a late-game cleaner or, (AC) at the very least, (AC) as a Pokemon in the back. Leading with it doesn't do too much except bluff a Belly Drum setup. In particular, (AC) Choice Band Azumarill will work to knock out specific threats on your opponent's team.

Team Options
========

Amoonguss provides redirection support thanks to Rage Powder, and resists Azumarill's weaknesses. Mega Kangaskhan, Mega Lopunny, Scrafty, and Infernape all support with Fake Out while Infernape and Mega Lopunny support with Encore as well. Cresselia and Chandelure are two Trick Room setters that can be are used well alongside Azumarill.
