Resource BBP Bug and Feedback Thread - Generation 9 Edition!

It looks to me like Primordial Sea's "Rain created by the user..." effect is a continuous effect like Cute Charm, so that disrupting Kyogre's ability would turn it into normal rain which can be interacted with in normal ways and allows fire attacks. Is that correct?
Also, the arena in Kyogre/Groudon raid is passively generating rain/sun that can't be discarded; so it appears that the primals never create their special weather (they can't create a condition with the same name as an already-present condition.) Is that correct?

Should pressure uber work vs ubers in realgams? They do not technically cost a tech to send out but this feels wrong.. On the flip side of things, should pressure uber work against ubers in raid?

Does "Overheat x2" used by a Contrary mon raise their SpA by 2 or 4?
Relevant text: "If this move would raise the stages of the user or their allies, or lower the stages of any opponents; instead, it changes those stages by [N] times (x[N]) as much."

Also, this might conceivably be intended but Groudon has Overheat x2 on both the 4 and 7 AP indicators.

a pokemon with no intent (for example because the order post did not contain a main order for that step, or because they are asleep and received an order to use a normal move), which therefore will use struggle, in fact has no intent.
therefore it is very difficult to sub for this, and in particular "if X is to use struggle" (or "if X is to use a command" or "if X is to use a physical action") does not trigger in this case. players could use orders like "Court Change" (without knowing court change) to get around subs like that.

(proposed remedy: fill all intent slots with struggle before beginning to give out intents as normal. this should be separate from receiving intents, so that even sleeping pokemon have a struggle intent)

Will-O-Wisp seems to be missing the #burn and #status-inflicting tags

Additionally, Default step count in session rules is listed in the handbook as 3, but this was patched to 2.

Additionally, again, is it possible to have 5.1 in the handbook updated to account for disciplines? It still has nature information.

We have come to the realisation that Eevee can't actually click it's sig Z-Move for quite some time even with all the boxes checked

Does haze work with macho brace?
consensus seems to be reaching "yes but maybe shouldn't" based on the distinction that macho brace cares if an action increases stat stages, and setting a stat stage can be increasing it even if it isn't raising it.

Unsure where the discussion will end but at the very least 7.6 is not clear enough to head off a 10 minute head scratching.

Feedback: I was looking at signing up for a Subway to try making a snow team/Ninetales-Alola work, in significant part because Subway is the facility that's intended to be "just play what you want" instead of counterteaming, but Emmet's Ubers make it really unappealing (in this case Solgaleo specifically would auto win.) Even if he had to pick at random, I'd still not feel like I could reasonably bring a snow team there, 1/6 to instantly lose is pretty bad.

Justified should proc only when dark-types are on the field, right???

At the end of the Switching Phase, if the user entered play this round; or when the user gains this ability, if there is a Dark-type Pokemon in play: Raise the user's Attack and Special Attack stages by one (1) each. When the user is hit by a Dark-type attack: Raise the user's Attack and Special Attack stages by one (1).

Right now I'm being argued against that the bolded text doesn't check for Dark-Type pokemon in play but I think that's strange. On one hand there's precedent for it in Storm Drain, but it's strange that it would not proc in the lack of a dark type in only one of the cases. Plus a lot of the pokemon that know the ability don't exactly need the free +1 offenses on switch in.

I think that the text should probably be:
At the end of the Switching Phase, if the user entered play this round, or when the user gains this ability; if there is a Dark-type Pokemon in play: Raise the user's Attack and Special Attack stages by one (1) each. When the user is hit by a Dark-type attack: Raise the user's Attack and Special Attack stages by one (1).

Same for Storm Drain textwise but only with SpAtt. (Lightning Rod doesn't trigger based on active types) Sad Plasmanta, Maractus and Cradily nerfs but it just happens sometimes.

semicolons don't mean anything special like that

Type berries say they last for 1 round, but as far as I know the last patch notes lasted it as until leaving play and I don't think there was a more recent version.

Unsure what the intent is right now.

Why do the A0 bosses have 40 en?

Initially I was confused because it looked like their chill rules were different out of nowhere, but apparently it also has no effect on when they chill?

I believe Eye of the Storm would also prevent effects such as the tornadus-team's Flame Body or Berserk or Poison Point or whatever abilities activating. Unsure if this is how it works and/or how it's intended to work

responding to page 25:

sub rake we could potentially clean up: "ignore other substitutions" clause says other specifically, so a sub like "and ignore all of this Pokemon's substitutions until the end of the round" is actually illegal (has to be written with [once] and other instead)
easy to make it just not require "other". ignore "all other" or "all" or "first and third" or whatever.

Magic Coating has the text "while it is a round where the user entered play", this feels redundant with the text of rebound and means Magic Coat and Magic Bounce only works on a round where you enetered play
i fixed this on Feb 6 and forgot.

Wondering if we could get a reminder somewhere in the Silvally kit that the memories are immutable similar to the reminder text on the mega stones :pleading:

Currently it's not on any part of the item, the ability, the mon, or 5.10 (the section the mon trait directs you to) it's only in 6.3a
i am uncertain if i am ready to commit to writing "This item is immutible." on every immutible item and then inevitably forget it on some crucial item until it comes up in circuit. i'll think on it; item immutibly doesn't exactly change very often.

Some dat bugs;

Priority tag is missing from Accelerock
Self-switching tag is missing from U-turn
Self sacrifice tag is missing from Final Gambit
Ability ignoring tag is missing from Light That Burns the Sky
(Identifying which ones are missing seems to be which ones had a typo/case sensitive difference in the patch notes)

Torch Song has an accuracy of 100 not 100% currently
i did this at some point and didn't write it down.

Should weather moves have the weather removing tag?
I believe they used to be in the action group last year.
did

Should the :rillaboom::cinderace::inteleon: Galarian Starters have 16 BAP on their G-Max moves?
While other G-Max moves have variable BAP, the starters specifically have 16 BAP on their G-Max moves regardless of their original move.
did at some point. i don't recall when.

by my reading, Counter will still execute vs a low-damage physical attack will still execute, so it's a fixed damage hit with 0 bap, which has a minimum damage of 1

unsure if this is intentional but it feels bad that it'll proc things like sticky barb and damage decoys
did

sky drop is an evasive move that was not given the tag in the patch notes

also, smack down etc beats sky drop on cart

needs a new function

should fairy wind cost 2 en? it is a 4 bap no-effect attack, and those are usually 2.

Behemoth Blade's text references Behemoth Bash instead of itself.

It doesn't look like this stuff got written from patch notes into the handbook or dat

to do.

In Switch=OFF battles, Technique Conditions can be discarded by Switching and Phazing. They can also be discarded by Purge Conditions, but that is probably necessary.
to do.

did a while ago.

pokemon with fainting have minimum and maximum of 0 in every stage. this means that explosion ignores the user's atk stages.
(suggest "while no pokemon is acting: " on stage caps, though not totally sure that fixes it)
did. maaaaan. (moved the stage clamping to "while inactive")

more pages to come after i get to these to-do's.

page 26:
Per this post, :Rebble:Rebble & :tactite:Tactite have the incorrect abilities. They're both listed on the DAT as having Levitate / Technician / HA: Mold Breaker for abilities, yet the 2018 rework has changed those to (:Rebble:) Levitate / Solid Rock / Sniper and (:Tactite:) Levitate / Technician / Sniper

Should Encore say "can't intend other actions"?
I am reasonably sure that "intends the noted move" means it always does that if possible, but the wording suggests that maybe you can chill while encored with the sub "This step, if able, use chill."

Related, if you are encored into a move you can't use such as max growth, can you use chill?
you can try to replace your intent, but the ongoing effect of the condition will make your intent the encored move if you can use it

so, you can use a command if you can't use the encored move. otherwise, you wouldn't be able to struggle, either.

Attack raising tag is missing from Power-Up Punch in the DAT
did, also tagged #Stat-Raising

11.4b lists "their trainer has available technique control" as a requirement for mega evolution; but free tech megas should be able to mega-evolve as long as advanced techniques are on and they still have their free tech, even if the trainer has spent all their tech.

I think the current machinery for preventing "empty subs" from triggering is ineffective.
Dyl posted this set of substitutions in Discord:

Against the orders Substitute ~ Protect, let's try resolving this:
on s1 everything works great, we change our s2 order to Rock Blast.
on s2 we check first at start of step, and resolve "use Rock Blast on the next step"; then the Protect sub can't trigger.

The machinery to prevent this in the rules right now is, as far as I can tell:

But nothing tells you to ignore "use X next step" on step 2.
We could add something like "If a Substitution were to resolve, but none of its Result Clauses would have any effect (ignoring a Substitution is an effect even if that Substitution would not trigger): instead, that Substitution is ignored and does not trigger." but that makes me concerned it will have a problem with subs containing "replace all X with Y" when you don't have any X (often because the sub already triggered); maybe that's fine though, usually those subs also have another clause that would trigger and ignoring a clause doesn't ignore the whole sub unlike making it illegal.

Also, is it correct that under Sealed (Knock Off), a substitution containing "begin using Swords Dance ~ Knock Off" will trigger only on the last step of the round? That's my current reading of it but I'm not confident.

Follow-up on 10.7:

This also seems to me like it might be bugged in the case of flinching; we expect "[when flinching is created on me] if able, delay orders" to work, but this might be "giving them later orders".
delay orders is delaying existing orders.

How does this line on Doom work:

Specifically I am wondering about multiple instances of Doom, such as with Disdain.
not intuitively. my read is that the dooms are all shared (because the defender shares the doom back to each condition).

Mist (Fog), Smog (Fog), and Smokescreen (Fog) should be tagged #Weather (Clear Smog (Fog) is already tagged #Weather).

Will-O-Wisp doesn't have the #Burn or #Status-Inflicting tags.

Additionally, in The Legend Gauntlet, Raikou, Entei, Suicune, Lugia, and Ho-oh continue to refer to Action Groups, which no longer exist.

Toxin interacts strangely with switching off.
If you use a switching move while under the effect of poison(3) toxin, to my understanding you end with poison(3) no toxin, instead of poison(1) toxin as you would upon switching out.

Can we rename the priority tag to priority attack? It is very missleading that it does not contain any non attacks with priority.

The Safari thread rewards [PRW] indicate that after 2/3 milestone of Ground Zero you get Tera for a random pokemon (first, second, or recruit, 1/3 each, before choosing a recruit.) But it also indicates that you only get a pokemon if you win, so it appears to be impossible for this to ever give tera to a recruit randomly.
This should probably either say you can get a pokemon you catalogued even if you lose (at level 0), or that the random Tera is on one of the mons you brought.
(Or, conceivably, that there is a 1/3 chance you just don't get Tera, but that sounds awful.)
did. now allows you to recruit a catalogued mon as a 2/3rd milestone (in pinnacles only)

Dynamax does not say it's duration in 11.6 or the dynamax condition.
Dynamax command says it is 3 steps, but dynamax command no longer exists or at least does not exist in the form it is written. You just declare it like a mega.

The Groudon & Kyogre raid's Kyogre arena reads in part:

Kyogre can hold any number of items, cannot have items transferred to or from themselves, and their held items are immutable.

However, Kyogre has an indicator that contains Thief, which is probably intended to transfer items.

Also, Kyogre has an Enigma Stone, which does not function in this context post rework.

Also, can raid bosses struggle on purpose?
