Hey, this is my Warstoy for the VA Seniors Regionals. I'd like to start off by saying that this was my first time going to ANY VGC event(even though regionals was about 10 minutes away from me last year) and I did WAY better than I expected to. Well I'm not going to spoil you with anything else so on with the rest of the warstory!
So I wake up on Sunday at 6:00 A.M. feeling really tired but anxious to start my VGC journey. I eat breakfast, pack my stuff in my Pikachu backpack and plushies in my other backpack. Once I'm done with that me and my dad head to the car and begin driving the 1 and a half hour drive at abut 6:30.
We arrive at the Farm Bureau Center at around 8:00. I go in and fill out the registration form, and head into the big main room. Now this part was kinda awkward for me. I saw Superpokemon67 but wasn't sure if it was him and didn't want to sound weird. I followed him and Dimsun around for a bit and I'm assuming they noticed this and invited me to the table they were sitting at with Hitmonrocker. They ask me if I'm from any sites, and I then tell them that I'm TalkingLion on Smogon, which made things after that a lot less awkward. We talk for a while and register, and then we waited for Round 1 to go up.
I think that now would be a pretty good idea to reveal my team to you guys, so here you go:

Now before you say anything, yes I am aware that my Scrafty is running Protect over Detect and is Adamant instead of Brave. This was done because I was trying to RNG a Scrafty the day before the event and settled for an Adamant one. Protect is there because I could have sworn that Detect was a level up move and not an egg move. It didn't make a difference though in the long run.
Round 1
vs. Brandon R.
We look at the pairings and see that thankfully none of us have to play each other round 1, which was a good start. I'm up against someone who likes like one of the older Seniors, but he didn't EV train and some of his Pokemon didn't have items so I was expecting an easy battle. I lead with Rhyperior and Cresselia while he leads with Gliscor and something else I don't remember. I EQ with Rhyperior and TR with cress to KO the something else and help set me up. I don't remember much of this battle at all actually as it was just a 4-0 sweep of Rhyperior and Cresselia :D
1-0
So after Round 1 we all ask each other on who won they're matches. Turns out we all won our match except for hipoke, who unfortunately lost to a Brightpowder miss:(. Not much else to say, and after a while Round 2 goes up.
Round 2
vs. MAR
To be honest I dont remember this guys name even just that his initials and ingame name was MAR or something. I barely remember this match as well but I used Rotom-W and Cressalia to sweep his team of Jellicent, Conkledurr, Hydreigon, and something else I forgot. He complained about how I got the best matchup I could have gotten a lot, but it was a pretty easy 4-0 win for me.

At this point I'm 2-0 but sadly SP67 and Dimsun both lost their battles so me and Hitmonrocker are the only 2-0 people from Smogon at this point. He says that I was the only person who is really 2-0 as his round 3 opponent dropped in between rounds, but we both hope that we won't have to play each other in round 3. Guess who my opponent is for Round 3?
Round 3
vs. Vince T.
Yep. We just had to play each other. Anyway I'm pretty sure that he said something about not revealing his team but I'm not sure if he meant for the day or until Worlds or something... To keep it safe I'm not going to reveal anything major about his team or the battle but I surprisingly won 4-0 with a Chandelure and Scrafty sweep.

Holy crap am I really 3-0 at my first regionals ever? Apparently I am, and am feeling really proud of myself for making it this far. I believe at this point the Masters start showing up and we all greet them but round 4 goes up so I look for my opponent.
Round 4
vs. NachoCheese.
I didn't know it at the time, but I was facing a fellow Smogoner in my Round 4 battle. Since I'm feeling lazy right now and he's posting his own warstory I'll let you read it from his perspective but let me just say that it was REALLY CLOSE. I end up winning 1-0 thanks to Trick Room ending to my advantage for once. Its a shame that this match didn't manage to get saved as he accidantally recorded his next match and I recorded the finals.

Whoa did I really just make it into the finals? I was expecting me to lose half of my matches and here I am sitting in the finals chair(though it doesn't feel like a finals chair. Everyone from Smogon is cheering me on, especially Hitmonrocker as he doesn't want to mess up his tie breaker(I was the only person he lost to that day). The round starts, so let the finals begin!
Round 5-FINALS

Like I said I'm being lazy so watch the battle yourself and see what happened. I'll say that It was a really close finals, and I made 2 misplays that I'm pretty sure if I had played one of them correctly I would have won. The first was having both Scrafty and Dragonite attack his Hydreigon at one point when it protected. I should have attacked his Metagross with one of them as either could KO it. The second misplay was at the end when I had Rhyperior EQ instead of using Megahorn on Hydreigon as I could have KO'd Metagross the next turn that way with EQ. But, I didn't do those things so I lost. Good game and congrats on winning Mychael!
Final Record:4-1~2nd place
Final words: When coming to this regional, I was really expecting to not do so well, but I ended up exceeding mine and everyone else's expectations by a lot. I'm still a bit disappointed that I came so close to winning but but lost to a mistake, but it was my fault and I did really well regardless of getting 1st or 2nd place.
