this movie was probably the absolute hardest movie i have ever sat through but oh my god was it fantastic. the filming was superb, and the acting was also

also fuck the mother aaaaaaaa

and also the fucking skin pulling wsjadhnf[osra

but yeah, definitley see this, if you can stand the way it was filmed

I thought Jim Carrey did a superb job in the leading role. Had me riveted from begining to fin.

when you brushed me... i felt a penis

This film was amazing. Also, I agree with everything in Rodan's hide tags. Also also, LESBIANS LIKE WHOA

Went and saw it today, A+

But seriously, what the fuck happened in the end? Did she die? Did she imagine she died? Was that girl really out to get her?

Also the fucking skin pulling on her finger ahhh that was horrible

i haven't seen this yet, but probably will eventually.

skin pulling sounds disgusting but riveting!!!

i was surprised that a movie about ballet could be one of the most absolutely terrifying films i've ever seen. unrelenting in its tenseness, i haven't felt that overwhelmingly uncomfortable through the entirety of a movie since one hour photo.

but yes, phenomenal movie. it was cast immaculately, natalia portman can look like a virginal 12 year old when she needs to and mila kunis just oozes sexuality.

Okay, time to post a real rate, instead of some dumb crap.

To me, I thought the movie was a bit trippy. It was good, but you need to watch the movie in a way that you'll understand it in more depth. The fact that a girl can get so obsessed over a role was creepy to me.

Nonetheless, a good movie.
The ending was sick, though.

also, i never sat through the whole thing, i kept having to leave i was so so uncomfortable.

Bumping because I just saw this movie and it was awesome. Kept me on the edge of my seat except for when I was getting scared senseless, at which points I was kind of curled into the fetal position in the back of my seat. I would highly recommend it though if you don't mind getting scared and you don't mind some blood.

Mila Kunis eats Natalie Portman out, other than that there's just fondling

1. I think she actually died but it doesn't matter because in her eyes she achieved perfection. The girl being the one that retired? I think she was really pissed and maybe depressed but not homicidal

2. Ahhhdgsahgigsdihdgs no don't ew ughhhh

That movie was the single most terrifying thing I have ever seen. As someone who has literally had several psychotic breaks, experienced hallucinations, memory issues and paranoia...Oh my god. It was like reliving the most horrifying moments of my life. That movie was EXACTLY what it is like, right down to the actions. This movie actually left me in tears it was so terrifying to me. What an amazing piece of work. Natalie Portman was PERFECT. I had the highest expectations I could possibly have for a movie and this one blew me away still. Best movie I have ever seen!

edit: it's like 40 minutes after leaving the theater and I'm still freaking out about it. This movie literally ruined my shit. I haven't felt this messed up in like a year. It definitely caused a panic attack! It is SO exciting! The ups and downs...oh my god I left with the most incredible high in the world.

Yeah your post was incredibly incisive and useful. This post of yours may have been more real than the actual movie could have ever hoped to have been.

Saw this and The King's Speech back to back last weekend, both were great films, but Black Swan gets a leg up from me because it's not so fucking sterile. God, what an intense, disturbing movie. I hated pretty much every character, but in a good way - like, the performances made me react strongly. I hated the Mom for being a crazy coddling bitch, I hated Natalie Portman for being a pandering woman-child, etc... really great stuff all around. Mirrors are kind of a tired motif in films like this but I thought there was some cool stuff done with em. Definitely stuck with me after I left the theater.

Also, I saw it with my mom - she's my movie buddy and one of my best friends in general, but uh... yeah, definitely not a film I would recommend seeing with your dear old mum. You who've seen it know the scenes I'm talking about >_>

reply to ducklett, out of courtesy to those not wanting to be spoiled:

The mirror was important as it is obvious that seeing herself was a trigger for hallucination. She clearly was bulimic, no hiding it at all, so that means she had HUGE issues with how she looks. Often hallucinations can be triggered by stress...seeing herself NOT being perfect (they never do, hence the disorder) causes the stress, stress causes the hallucination.

Honestly I missed a great deal of the plot because I was so caught up in Natalie's performance. Natalie is probably the best actor I have ever seen.

I honestly wasn't disturbed during any part of the movie; and don't say I didn't get it because I'm almost certain I have a strong grip of the thematic concerns dealt with in the film. On facebook I saw masses of 'wtf so trippy' or 'disturbing as' so obviously I went and saw it. Maybe it was just hyped up but even though stunningly done in regards to acting and mis en scene it didn't have a 'woah mindfuck/what just happened/so trippy' kinda feeling for me; I was left with the thoughts "haven't these people seen a psychological thriller before???".

But don't get the impression that I didn't enjoy it, it's an easy 4.5/5 and definitely worth a watch, just don't go with your homophobic grandma like some poor sod did at the back of the cinema...

PS Natalie is a fucking boss

PPS It sucks to be a ballet dancer.

Gotta agree with MD, all over facebook is "so trippy" "WTF jus happened 0.0" and "most disturbing film ever!!!!1!".
I don't actually think they ever have seen one before, and the closest they've been to a "mindfuck" is Inception.

But it was a great film, and if I rambled on I'd be repeating what everyone has said in this thread.

And I'll definitely be watching the directors other works (yeah, I never watched requiem for a dream).

I just think that the Facebook community is dumb as shit and isn't a good movie authority. Yesterday I finally saw my friend who recommended this movie to me and I had to tell him how awesome it was, so much that I can tell this movie definitely made a lasting impression on me. Now I really want to see Requiem for a Dream...
