Assuming that buffs was referring to strength of attacks:

ok in case you didn't realize. The weaker classes are faster. Why would you give the weaker classes more strength? Do you really want Pichu to be as strong as bowser? A fighter with that speed and that strength would be very cheap. Thats why you have three classes:

Light (fast but weak)ex: Kirby, Pichu.

Medium (average sped and strength) ex: Mario.

Heavy: (slow but powerful) ex: Bowser, DK.

You misunderstood completely... I meant strengh as in overall power, not strengh of attacks. For example, no one uses Bowser because he sucks. Therefore he should get buffed if he's coming back. But it's not just the really trashy characters, I think they should even things out as much as humanly possible. In Melee the big 4 were Fox, Falco, Shiek and Marth(wavedashing only). For Brawl to be as good a game as possible, these need to be slightly nerfed and good but weaker characters such as Link and Mario slightly buffed to get as close to a perfect balance as possible.

They have no reason to add more Pokemon, I mean Pikachu is obvious as the face of the franchise, and Mewtwo is really only just a bit less so in my mind. Jigglypuff was a cute enough novelty, a friend of mine uses him at school, him I can understand, but Pichu? Pichu was totally worthless, a waste of the slot, and without question one of the two worst characters in all the game, down there with Bowser. If you're going to add any new Pokemon as characters, and they really shouldn't add more then one or maybe two, then I would like them to scrap Pichu. And that means no Minun or Plusle, or that stupid electric squirrel from D/P or any other Pikachu clones. But really, by my line of thinking, no other Pokemon really fits the physical requirements or popularity that would warrant inclusion into the game, although I've been thinking over my Deoxys suggestion and something like that might have potential. It would have to be a humanoid of roughly Mewtwo's size, I think, so that means no large winged dragons such as Charizard, or on the opposite end of the scale small things like Jirachi. Infernape might work actually, but I really don't see him fitting all that well either.

If they wanted to add Raichu, they could have done it way back in the original, I don't see why they would be starting now.

Infernape fits perfectly IMO! And with his vast arsenal of moves, how hard would it be to come up with 4 B techs?

example:

B= Close Combat
B>= Flare Blitz
B^= Blaze Kick
B\/= Encore (lol)

I don't see clones as a necessity, but Raichu as a bulkier Pikachu clone would be a cool one IMO, and one that makes sense unlike Capn. Falcon & Ganondorf. And if they stick to tradition: SSB: Pika SSBM: Pichu SSBB: Raichu.

next best thing to.......?

IMO this is the best way to do it unless they give advantages to the wiimote
....
otherwise, anyone who never owned a gamecube but got a wii (its not that crazy) would be a little left out... especially since I doubt anyone has more than one classic controller......

If anything fighting type pokemon is going to be added to the roster it's going to be Lucario. I will not be surprised at all if he shows up as playable.

I would agree with that, especially since he was the titular character of one of the movies.

Pfffahahaha: http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/index.html

They did the next best thing.

You're absolutely right. Though, I wouldn't use the Wii Remote alone. It'd be a murder on the D-Pad. I have the Classic Controller & 3 GameCube controllers, so I'm set. Oh, and a Nunchuk (Note: Spell it whatever you want to) for alternate Wii Remote use. I can't seem to figure out how the Wii Remote alone would work, but I can piece together all the others.

Multiple controller support though is tasty.

That's actually probably the most useful update yet... If only they'd tell us the buttons. The gamecube controller is definetly still the best option. I can see the classic controller working very well too though, and wiimote+nunchuck could be interesting. On the side, though...? i guess 1 = B and 2 = A... the B-trigger would have to be guard, and up on the control pad would be the only way to jump... I don't like the way it sounds but we'll see.

And yeah I could see Lucario as well.

The developers knew about the Wave Dash when Melee was being made, so I'm assuming they'll keep it in Brawl.

Don't know where it is, but I read an interview on some site over a year ago, where the guy said they knew about the Wave Dash before Melee's release.

Some hackers on smash board also found that there was something labeled "super dash" in the game code, or something similar, which was wave dashing.

Well, I can't say for sure, but I do like that new update with the Yoshi's Story stage. If I'm guessing right, then it won't be the only that will incorporate weather/time of year situations based off of the Weather Forecast channel.

Don't jump the gun and mention the internal clock of the Wii. I know it'll predetermine most of it. Hey, who knows, maybe there will be some parts of stages that are affected by your actually city's weather. Remember, if a stage is raining and raining at your house, then neat. Then later you find that the stage is raining since it's not raining at your house. Well, at least in general to your selected city. It's a shame though that the Forecast Channel doesn't update as often as the News Channel.

I'm loving the music update! EDIT: I can't stop replaying it!
I can't wait to smash to that....

PS: A bit farfetch'd but maybe it's a Ridley hint??

About the Yoshi stage: Hmmm... I thought that it would just be a stage where the seasons would change over short increments of time and not relative to the actual seasons...

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I don't think Final Destination is the standard map for tournaments. It gives an edge towards projectile users, as there's not another platform to escape projectiles with; normally Battlefield is used more.

On the subject of wavedashing, it takes a fair bit of practice to use effectively (so there's not much point in developing the skill unless you live in a competitive area), and while it may have been known about before the release of SSBM, I doubt it was intentional.

I don't really see much point in nerfing characters; it's not so unbalanced that an Fox user can still beat, for example, a Dr. Mario player despite the fact that the Fox user may be less skilled. Not saying that every character is of equal strength, but that in the right hands, most are still viable options.

No, but nerfing Falco to make him less like Fox is a good thing. I think, anyway.

On a side note, I don't know who else is doing this, but every time they add more music to that site, I'm recording it with Audacity. Right now, I have four songs.

Battlefield is FAR from more fair than FinalD. That stage is sometimes not even considered to be neutral, due to the crappy lip of the stage that sweetspotting recoveries get screwed over by.

The neutral stages are Final Destination, Battlefield, Yoshi's Story, Dreamland 64, and Pokemon Stadium. They are the "fairest". All of them still give an advantage to one character over another (except maybe Pokemon Stadium which changes form to balance it out).

In Japan, the only stages used are Final Destination and Battlefield. They don't even allow counterpicking (ie. in North America and Europe, Poke Floats, Mute City, and like 10 other stages aren't neutral but aren't banned either).

In Japan it's Dreamland and FinalD. Not Battlefield and FinalD.

So, does anyone have any extra theories of how HAL could possibly exploit the Time Clock and/or other channels to enhance the experience of SSBB? Each time/year/status of day is (if HAL is using both Time/Date & Forecast Channel) an effect that will be used in the game. Check out the Sun Dial of Battlefield for some fun.

Dark battles during the night. Light battles during the day. Lovely.

As much as I hate how the "competitive" metagame people think that they make up the majority of the SSB fanbase(when in reality they likely make up about 1% of the fanbase), I have learned to accept it. Even though they want to turn the game against what the game was meant to be and instead make it into a game of Street Fighter with Nintendo Characters, they can play how they view is fun. Though I don't understand if they want it to be so much like Street Fighter why they don't play on Stamina Mode.

Myself, my favorite game made is 4 player free for all with Pokeballs, Freezies, Motion Sensor Bombs, Bob-ombs, Home Run Bats, and Warp Stars on Medium or all items on medium. That is what I will play, given online SSB gives you options. My character is Ness.

I hate Final Destination and Battlefield just like most people, they are boring. My favorite stages are Poke Floats, Onett and Fourside.

I will be using the Wii Remote/Nunchuck or just the Wii Remote as my control scheme. I don't want this game to be SSB: Melee 2. I have a strong feeling this game is going to be docked on reviews for being a rehash of Melee, especially if its online modes aren't spectacular.

I thought Sora was making the game and HAL is just helping them...Is this right?

The beauty of smash is that it really works both way perfectly fine. It was created as a wild party game, but has enough indepth things to be a complex fighting game such as Street Fighter.

HAL helps a lot on a lot of games. They help with Pokémon too if you didn't know. But hey, I dunno. Sakurai did SSBM too, but HAL still did both SSB and SSBM. However, I don't know. Can someone help out here?

But, do you have ideas?

I'm not sure if it works that way, as it'd be kinda unfair for those who
can't get their Wii connected and get those channels for some reason or other, so it maybe the time/season changes regularly like every 5 minutes.

Also, for most people who wants X or Y Pokémon to be playable, do consider the fact that they're chosen after their popularity and/or role in the anime as the games don't any real main characters or villains aside from the humans, and they'd probably pick some of the more recent ones. This means we won't see stuff like Farfetch'd or Teddiursa outside of Pokéballs, while Lucario and Croagunk have a bigger chance to be playable.

I, on the other hand, honestly don't want more than 2 new Pokémon (if Pichu gets removed), as a bunch of them appear from Pokéballs, and there's already too many playable Pokémon characters when compared to other series. The same applies to Mario and Zelda. I hope they'll prioritize the lesser series with characters before the bigger ones, as I seriously would like to play as Ridley and Earthbound's Flint and Kumatora.

I've played both competitive-style and "normal"-style and I can't see why so many people obsess over totally flat courses and all items turned off. Sure, it's a "higher level of play", but I always viewed it as sort of like snaking in Mario Kart DS- while it largely removes the luck factor, it also sucks the soul out of the game.

Oh, and is it just me, or does Fox get creepier every gen of SSB? (Especially with Japanese set as the language, good God)

EDIT: I'm kinda hoping that they add a Mii character option where you can use your Miis to fight. That would be gimmicky but cool.
