I like that they're actually covering all of a character's B moves, not just two. About Link's newly-revealed special moves:

The Gale Boomerang sounds as if it functions like a normal boomerang on the throw and tugs at opponents a bit on the return trip. How much it tugs is a mystery. Is Mario being lifted off his feet, or is he mid-jump?

The bow: "It's fast." I hope so. Bombs seem unchanged insofar, aside from appearance.

You can charcge up the spin attack, which could prove useful. Of course I usually never used the spin attack for anything but recovery, but I was never a Link player.

And lastly Link's clawshot is apparently easier to use this time round.

This update also conveniently puts to bed any speculation about a Wolf Link transformation move. Yay!

Agreed there, Steinhauser. I think it might be because they know they can't get away with the crappy 2-move updates anymore.

I'm actually rather excited about Link even though I rarely use him- the slight additions/modifications to his moves seem great. The bow hopefully WILL be fast (as in, it takes maybe 1-2 seconds to fully charge up, and flies at its slight downward trajectory) which leads me to believe that Pit's bow will now have the same chargeup time from Link's bow in Melee since you can control its trajectory. Guess we'll see though.

Gale Boomerang seems nice for screwing up opponents, but if they're a closer-range type, that might not be so helpful. I also think how far they move will be dependant on wind.

Bombs are the same, nothing special.

The clawshot...I was laughing at the guys on 4chan because everyone was going "BAAAAWWWW" over the fact that the clawshot auto-aims for recovery, and this helps scrubs beat pros or something... very amusing stuff. Guess we'll have to see just how "cheap" it is when the game comes out.

Finally, I liked that Link's spin attack can be charged now, though I hope it has the same initial knockback as the previous two games. If you have to charge it up to be able to KO with it, it will be even more useless than it was in melee because of the lag against any player that knows what they're doing.

Edit: I'm leaving for my place in Florida, and since this is the only place I frequently post I thought I would mention it here. If I can I'll post tomorrow, if not I hope to see you guys soon.

Whenever I played Link in Melee, I used the Spin attack all the time, as either a means to keep distance, the end of a Sword Combo, or what I call "the tipper." The tipper doesn't do nearly as much damage, but it has lethal horizontal knockback. It's a great edge-guarding move, and due to the mechanics of Link's Spin Attack, it doesn't matter which direction Link is facing.

I hope they didn't get rid of that little effect, its quite useful.

Why do you call it "the tipper"? The horizontal knockback doesn't occur at the tip. It happens anywhere on the sword but after the initial hit frames.

It's just a name, and its mainly for the effect it has of keeping foes at long range, and the fact I mainly try to hit it at the endge of the spin attack because it makes Link less vulnerable. Its must easier to time at the tip than in the middle or at close range, because you won't be interrupted by your opponent DI'ng toward you and hitting you with an aerial.

I am definitely getting this game (if I can find a Wii, I still can't). I have multiple freinds that play this game that I consistently beat (I'm Fox, they're not, I shine-spike them (Falco, who is too easy, and Sheik, slightly harder), they die. 3 to 4 times a game). If they add in a feature to battle anyone around the world via wi-fi, well, that would be fun. Finally, battling some real talent.

I just hope Fox's Final Smash is good.

Link

So we have the first officially complete character. Profile, Moves, and the Final Smash.

I'm quite surprised, really. The SSBB Link's model is from The Twilight Princess (as we know), but his moves are too. I find that quite interesting, as that will bring changes to his overall character actions. The Gale Boomerang I'm predicting, is that its gale part will bring lift and do slight damage if the character touches it. If the character hits the Gale Boomerang itself, it will do more damage on its end.

The Hero Bow's "Fast Speed" kind of concerns me. Did it actually get a boost charge speed? If so, then that will affect aiming considerably, and might make it less appealing. At least, for me it'd be bad. Maybe it's in reference to the arrow's speed instead after aim and charge? That actually wouldn't be bad at all. Link would enjoy that for sure.

Bombs are bombs. They have a new crazy look from Twilight Princess. Maybe they've changed a little though, like distance thrown or damage dealt. Also, throw hasn't really changed, other than the fact that it's a different item. I'm not going to make a specific section just for that.

Now the most spammed move of Link's has just gotten better! Oh joy! A charge. Charge the Spin Attack for extra damage and distance. Well, at least it's more accurate to past Zelda games, which the SSB series tries to aim for. If characters can become more like themselves in their own series, then developers will aim for them to become that way.

There is one thing that changed in the model if you haven't noticed. Link is back to his original self. By that, I mean that he's left-handed again. If you never knew, Link was originally left-handed. In Twilight Princess, they made him right-handed due to population issues when using the Wii Remote. You could understand that though, right?

So you mean NSider folk?

I believe that Pit's arrows won't have a Charge. More like a hold so that way if you aren't ready to shoot and aim, you can hold your arrow and prepare for it. "His arrows travel as fast as light, though, so be quick. Very quick!"

Around 1:32 time. It looks like his arrow flies straight enough; a lot straighter than in melee for that kind of charge time anyway. The speed seems on par with his fully charged up speed as well.

New update reveals cameo appearance (maybe more?) of the NES R.O.B. Nice reference.

The story itself seems a bit...I dunno...electric and purple? Like Super Paper Mario's story. Similarily the enemy characters are too geometric.

I really thought Zelda and Peach were there to help Mario and Kirby fight the bad guys, but they are simply there to be rescued!

I hate how Nintendo makes them the damsels in distress all the time. So sexist. </3

petey pirahna =(

still, the way he was shown in the update indicates to me that he will not be a playable character, which is a plus

I don't like how Zelda and Peach didn't flinch or shift positions at all after the violent cage-clanging. Nitpicky yes, but an irritating oversight.

Well she can't Wind through walls (as far as Melee was concerned). She could probably Din's Fire at Petey through the bars though.

It's kind of silly how, in a game that's supposed to give ALL characters equal power and capability, the same two girly princesses get captured in the first act like they do in every game.

Call me blind, but I don't see where Petey Pirhana is... nor do I think he's actually shown.
Edit: Ignore this. I didn't see the video.

Sakurai said that the storyline would change if you play different characters. Since it looks you have to play as Kirby to beat Petey Pirahna, this might be the Kirby storyline.

o.o; I don't think Shiek is going to be in Brawl because of Zero Suit Samus. ;-;

There's already been an interview between Eiji Aonuma and some guy saying that they've submitted updated character models of Ganondorf and Sheik to be used in Brawl (I don't have the link on me but I know it's been posted in the thread; otherwise, google). I'd say this all but confirms them- MAYBE not Sheik, but I honestly assume she'll be made a separate character due to her overwhelming popularity from OoT.

I'm off on my trip, hope you guys have great updates!
