Brawl Discussion

oh god.

why cant you close it and allow sonius to post the updates?

Then how would we discuss? Why would we need a topic of only updates when we have a website that does it all much better?

There are 75 updates until the North American release.
There are 70 updates until the Japanese release.

I dont really see any disscusion.

I see repetative comments on the same thing and arguments about usless shit.

You really haven't looked hard enough then. Not every update warrants a discussion especially shit like "lol tether recovery", there's nothing to discuss. Go back a few pages and look at our discussion on the Pokemon trainer.

By the way Firestorm has the slightly earlier Japan release been 100% confirmed? If so, fuck. I won't be able to be on the internet at ALL during the week before release to avoid spoilers XD

All i see is discussion between a few and random comments thrown in between.

Either way, when ever I look into this thread I usuaslly just go to Sonius' posts.

Hm, the fact that it's her upB is interesting. I mean, the reason the grapple was good was because you could actually recover after using it. This shows it going pretty high, which is good... it's not just a stick-straight-out-grab-the-stage thing, so if there's invincibility frames, I think this might end up being one of the better recoveries.
If it's her Up B move then the original grapple beam was superior seeing as how in melee you could air dodge towards the stage then use the move. The air dodge definitely allowed for more control.

This one looks longer, though I'm not too sure.

Still a discussion.

And that's great, continue to do that and refrain from posting. It'll save us all a lot of heartache, won't it?

I'm losing track of my thoughts, but in conclusion the only reason I've left this thread open is because I like Sonuis.

Super compliment. Anyway, I want to show you guys some things which will shock and terrify you.

Watch what will happen to this topic if we start talking about new and upcoming characters. Not to mention the rate at which we're going at.

Sonic is to lame to be in Brawl
MY AWSOME ROSTER 6.0

Watch what will happen if we start talking about (*assuming) things which most likely not happen, but believing whole-heartedly will happen.

Why does nook always look..

People, we have to be more intelligent. Notice how the stupider we get, the more we enrage MulletMan?

Watch what'll happen when we start pissing off DoomMullet even more:
yummmy cake
asshole

Be thankful that we're having more um... "logical" discussion versus other boards' crazy SSBB threads. I couldn't imagine what pain and further suffering I'd be in if I could actually post at the NSider forums. Doesn't seem to like my account.

Edit: I'm sorry about using the NSider forum as a resource, but it's just so easy. I'm too lazy to scour other boards like GameFAQs, PokéRealm, Serebii, Pojo, etc. It's just too easy.

Back to business, Zero Suit Samus's Up+B recovery is a bit awkward, don't you think? Since it can grip onto ledges in distances, that's great and all, but what happens when it hits solid floor? The description makes it seem that her Up+B recovery only works on ledges. That would make her much more susceptible to Meteor Smashes over any other character if that's the case. I've probably misunderstood what the description was though. Any thoughts on this, or by any chance, clarification for me?

Thanks for the compliment again MulletMan.

Sonuis I'm curious as to what your NSider account name is. ;(

Obviously a pretty meh update today but I'm worried about the fact that Zamus' recovery move is just a tether whip.

You know, I'm almost tempted to say that GameFAQS is just as bad as Nsider (judging by those posts you linked), having frequented the place before I came to Smogon. If it weren't for guys like HurricaneCT (a genius and fellow Fire Emblem player like me), it would be hell.

Anyways, remember in melee when you shot Link's hookshot or Samus' grapple beam over a ledge? It just misses, then slides back along the ground and retracts back to the character and is effectively a KO because your character goes into "can't do anything after an Up-B" mode. That probably sounds awkward but if you don't understand I'd say try it out in Melee, it'll make perfect sense when you see it.

For that reason, when playing with either Ivysaur(Assuming the up-B is Vine Whip) or Zero Suit Samus you'll need to be precise.

About her vulnerability to meteor smashes I would have to disagree. Depending on the move itself she may be able to hook onto the ledge and hang at a low enough point that any character trying to meteor her (save Kirby) would be dangerous.

For reference about why I think she's not vulnerable to meteors, check out how Samus uses her grappling hook (which functions similarly to how ZSamus's whip will) and how difficult it is to attack her at around 40 seconds in (and again at roughly 3:25 and 4:40):

(Also that match in general is just great, since it's Ken vs. Aniki who's one of Japan's best)

You see, this is exactly what set me off in the first place, you reply to me in an arrogant way and tear down my opinion without having any respect for it. THAT is what's bullshit.
yeah well that's just who I am I guess

This is the first relevant and meaningful point you've made, and notice how you don't use any outright name-calling or insults to make it. Weird.
I don't remember calling you, or anyone, any names in this thread. Mainly just sarcasm and the like

I have hated this thread from day one, don't give yourself too much credit. All this thread does is rehash every single annoying-as-shit rumor and speculation about what the game will have. "OMG theyd BETTER have lucario and sonic SRSLY!" And people admit to basically F5ing the page until it updates at midnight just to see? That strikes me as kinda pathetic. This isn't a webcomic, this is a video game. All these updates, like I said before, are hyping the game up WAYYY ahead of time, but it is quite a genius marketing maneuver.
still not seeing how this is a big deal

discussion of a game happens all the time. This just happens to be a much more important game to most.

but whatever

well then I could just go to the site and get the updates so there would be no point in having this thread at all.

As said earlier, easy resource. I couldn't find their SSB specific board. Everyone mentions that GameFAQs has a lot of Game specific boards, but I can't find them.

I know of that, yes. What worries me about it though is that it's not a throw. It is a special move. Will the move have special properties (say if it hits flat ground/ledge, then the beam will grapple Zero Suit Samus to its location), or will it give Zero Suit Samus a slight boost along with basic grappling action? Makes you wonder. I wouldn't want to play as a character whose special recovery is terrible as hell.

Look at how long Zero Suit Samus's plasma whip reaches. That's one heck of a long whip (Makes Indiana Jones cry). The Whip has to catch onto something for it to work. Depending on how fast it moves and how long it takes for her to recover, she can be smashed. Then again, the entire whip could be shocking. That'd be something nice and useful to prevent Meteor Smashes.

My Nintendo Account = Sonuis
NSider Name = Nogra

However, it won't allow me to log onto the forums. "Account invalid/expired. Please login." Otherwise, I can login to the My Nintendo Account and junk. I don't feel like calling 1-800-255-3700 to say, "It won't let me login to the NSider forums." Not worth my time, or their time either.

Like anyone who noticed said (I didn't :x). Also, I'm not allowed to edit closed/opened topics. I'm not a Mod, Admin, Super Admin, or chaos. However, I can approve of Pokémon Tournaments/Ideas for. Submissions are closed though, so don't bother.

Japanese release: November 22, 2007
North American release: December 3, 2007
Europe release: Early 2008

All dates confirmed

ZSS Up+B seems really limited in that it looks like it needs to grab a ledge, seems like it will be like Popo when Nana has been KOed, you won't be going anywhere if you aren't near a ledge.

I think they will design it in a different way, so it becomes more trusty for "landing" on the cliff.

But, when you get thrown/smashed a reasonably larger distance, how the hell will you recover, is the whip really that long?.

I know that I have no authority, but could people just try to watch what you post when you are directly responding to others. Just be polite and consider their point of view.

DoomMullet, I'm sorry, I didn't realize that you were required to read the thread. And that's not supposed to be sarcastic, if it came off that way... Just please don't put "I hate this thread" in every post... If it's not insulting to the people who have posted in this thread, it's at least insulting to me. Maybe that was your intention but... I would like that you at least put it in a more polite way... again, not trying to sound.... impertinent or anything.

Anyways.... In the first screenshot, that's bowser's side tilt right?

I'm betting that Zamus' upB is aimable, maybe similar to how Link's Boomerang is aimed in that you don't get full range of motion (no downwards shooting) but that you can aim it straight up or maybe even horizontally. Of course this is a baseless claim...

Is it safe to come out yet or does DoomMullet still have his panties in a twist, combined with the resulting OMG ANGRY BITCH MODE!? I've never seen anyone get so worked up over some fucking rendered stickers in a video game. The Rawk Hawk one looks awesome though.

Anyway, PT looks interesting. I'm really pining for Ridley now. The differences between it and Charizard physiologically are incredibly minor.

My guess is that each pokemon will have a distance special move and a physical special move. Charizard might be slow on the ground but he'll probably be like every other winged character with multiple jumps to compensate.

I wonder if each pokemon has a different Final Smash or whether the Final Smash brings all three of them out for a triple attack. Mario already has a fireball like attack, but Charizards could be similar with a 360 degree beam of flame from its mouth.

Also, love the rendering on Charizard. Nice and scaly.

Thanks for the compliment again MulletMan.

Much deserved. Your posts remind me of what this thread could WHOLLY be like. Thoughtful, relevant, and not completely off the map.

I'm sorry too man, I don't really hate your thread, that was said out of anger. I won't say it's my favorite thread in the world, though. :avatar:

Actually, you fuckfairy, I was quite calm for a while, and BG was even good enough not to shoot back at me with his last post. I never got worked up over stickers you imbecile, I was worked up because BG got my ire up. Which, unfortunately for you, you have just done again. Learn when to keep your mouth shut.

I wonder, as Sakurai stated that this isn't just for Zamus, and that other characters will have this ability...do you think it will be like Walljumping, in the regard that it's an ability open to a set of characters? So far, we've seen characters that all have multiple jumps (Jiggles, Kirby and Metaknight are the only so far, but i'm not convinced characters soon to come wont have more jumps), so what do you guys think about the possibility that others will have it? We know Link/YLink have had it before,

thoughts?

(Not trying to be Nsider)

(I dont know if this is Nsider talk, but i havent been yelled at in this thread yet, so....)

ok this thread is turning into a pile of shit, and while DM might be willing to give some fuckheads a chance to explain themselves, im not. so "blame game" and "deck knight" will do well to shut the hell up

Hey you guys I'm finally back!~ ^.^; Didn't you all just miss me? :P

Well, I came just in time for the revealing of Peach, my all time favorite character in SSBB. I hope she has some really cool new moves and maybe even a special smash that has to do with her Super Princess Peach powers (the emotions).

And I'm so excited for the new Pokemon trainer character. It has to be really fun to use and I can't wait to get the game! Hopefully there will be a female switch when you change costumes. Yay us!~ <333

Ok then maybe we can get on topic with the updates and not totally go mental over them? Regarding tonight update, its not as though we didn't see it coming, but its nice that they finally acknowledged Peach, although I was looking for more, along the lines of moves and maybe a Final Smash. She does look pretty though.

Obvious updates that give no info like this one don't really promote discussion... I'm going to ask that people try not to post about Peach (and similarly Metaknight and Snake when they get updated about) unless it promotes discussion. You know, because it's kind of pointless.

True, baseless speculation may indeed get us nowhere. Wolt makes a valid point, though. Isn't she pretty? Just look at the lace on that dress. Loverly.

Also, judging from the pictures it doesn't look like much has changed. I was kinda hoping they'd get rid of the Toad defence to be honest. (Toad never seemed like the type to take a hit or pose a threat.) Again, this has all been validated in the update and thus should be ripe topics for discussion, yes?
