By request, you can now specify Tera Type: None in analyses. This functionality is intended for when you should not ever tera a Pokemon, similar to the "No Ability" ability or "No Item" item.

Right now, it doesn't do much, and will just result in no Tera Type line being shown on the Dex. But, it may do something different in the future, so if you all think this is useful please use it in your uploads so we can get a better idea of what to do.
Nobody is using this or followed up on 2 or so times I've asked about it, so it's been removed

The syntax of the formats document has been migrated from YAML to a format that is more consistent with the rest of the Dex, and with better error-checking. We're still playing around with the syntax but it should remain pretty similar to what is there now.

This is shiny finder's first major contribution to the CMS, thanks SF!

The Dex now supports strategies for in-battle formes like megas. This functionality was requested by the Draft section, but also in the past by Hackmons formats. Hackmons formats currently use "in-battle alt:" to specify a mega, but my hope is that we can standardize on this new functionality and I can remove "in-battle alt".

To change the forme, select from the drop down here:

If there are multiple strategies available for a given format, they'll be shown like this.

We may in the future allow select in-battle formes to have their own pages. Many analyses are written with the assumption that they're on the same page, so changing this is non-trivial; it's unclear if its even desirable in all cases. In any event that is a separate matter from this update, which is merely to make it possible to have strategies for in-battle formes at all.

Edit: I'll probably change the way the forme selector is styled at some point, I just did something minimal to get this out the door.

Credits are supported on format pages, as requested by the translations team. They'll look like this on the CMS credits page.

I'm not aware of the policies of what gets credited and what doesn't on format pages, but I'm sure if you have any questions you can ask a C&C leader

There is a new bbcode, [ copyedit ], which aims to make it easier to implement GP/QC type posts. It is also available as a reply mode in C&C-type forums (look at the right hand side):

Copyediting a post will avoid some formatting-related pitfalls of using XF's default quoting functionality. Additionally, copyediting an already copyedited post will only select text in the copyedit tag, ignoring stamps or other commentary.

You can also do something like copyedit=GP like a hide tag, if you so desire.

The way the CMS has traditionally worked is, badgeholders can propose edits, site staff can merge them. Over the years the scope of who can propose edits has increased. Two changes related to this:

- PS ROs can propose edits even if they don't have a badge.
- The CMS supports manually adding people, it used to be done by edited the "Alerts" document with some funky syntax, now it is integrated with forum usergroups. The mass usergroup add/remove tool (https://www.smogon.com/tools/blind-voting) now lets site staff add to this usergroup. Every other user group requires being senior staff.

The CMS gained a major feature that has been requested for years: the ability to have alternate names for things. Formats in particular sometimes get named the wrong thing, most infamously "Inh" for "Inheritance", and there has been no way to correct it.

The way this works is that "name:" now takes a list of names, anything after the first is an alternate. The concept of "shorthand" still exists for now; if you have a shorthand you don't like, then change it to what you like and add the old one as an alternate name.

Old names are redirected to the canonical name (shorthand name or first name depending on context).

Don't add these just to add them, they are intended to be permanent so as to support redirects. The only real reason to remove one is to reuse the name; in such a case, we'll have to do a find/replace to remove the references to the old name.

Major feature which drastically changes staff workflow. The CMS supports archiving pages natively; in other words, no [archive] on dex pages, which was a hack to put multiple versions of a page on a single page.

What this changes:

- DONT BLANK OUT PAGES. If you think you need to do this, tag me in #insidescoop or #cc-staff. Don't delete sample sets. Don't delete pages because something moved tiers. Don't delete. I may very well disable this functionality altogether, we'll see.

- Uploading a completely different strategy? In other words, would you select all, delete, and paste something else in? It's easier now. Add a new strategy to that format, just like you would if the current strategy never existed in the first place. The existing one becomes archived.

- Making something [outdated]? No change in your workflow. Edit the document to put that up top.

- Sample sets need [sample] up top. This will probably enable other things in the future. The CMS rejects analyses that are likely to be samples without [sample]. All existing samples have been mass edited to include this.

- Want a sample set to show, as well as a full outdated analysis below it? Don't edit the current strategy; add a new strategy as usual with your sample (including [sample]).

- Lastly, are you "editing" and not "replacing"? Typos, banned pokemon, adding a set, idk, situations where you wouldn't select all and paste, do the current workflow, don't add a new thing.

Everything should feel natural. The right thing to do is always the path of least resistance.
