His left arm confuses me a little bit... but I love the color scheme and especially the head. Overall very great work; yours and parnig's are the only sprites I find viable at the moment.

If you follow through on what you said, we have a winner. I think you are one of the few who got the face "just right". I'd say the tail needs a bit of work -- but you have an excellent sprite.

Thank you for your comments, they helped greatly. The version on the right is a slight colour change.

The tail did need fixing, hopefully it looks a lot better now, I also straightened the wood part of the left arm a bit which'll probably make it look less funky. The skirt was joined up a bit more neatly and I removed the fire altogether because the sprite looks far cleaner this way.

Any more suggestions would be very nice but otherwise i'd say that the sprite is nearing completion.
 
Now that the fire's gone, I must say it looks amazing. I definitely looked too "busy" before, but now it's awesome. I also like the slight darkening of the wood.

I liked the fire. I thought it was very well-done. Not too overbearing, and really accentuated it the main type of this pokemon. If you leave it out, I still think it is very good though. Maybe you could just have the fire coming out of the pokes left arm barrel, and restore the "glow" to his right arm barrel. Omit the fire from his back jets, that were somewhat obscuring the face, which is one of the best features of the entire sprite.

I like your base color changes.

Nice.

You know his right bicep though? Since this thing is quite bulky, I think it would be appropriate to "increase his muscle mass" so to speak. This sprite makes him look slightly scrawny with his small arms :P

Also I think the "red color" inside of the barrels should be different from the red on his body, in purely aesthetic terms.

Otherwise, I'm loving how "Pokemon-ish" this looks.
 
Hahaha, that is an amazing sprite, Wyverii. I agree with Dane that, with fire, the sprite "looked too 'busy,'" which takes away from the overall beauty of the sprite, in my opinion.

Did anybody else notice the rather odd tail placement? I think that's the only flaw in the sprite, and should be the part you look into the most, but only if you can make it seem natural.

If you want fire, it would have to come from both arms with that kind of pose, or it looks very awkward.

Once again, I applaud for your amazing sprite. It definitely has my vote!

Bulked up the arm a bit and added shiny for fun. I tried re-doing the tail but it's rather difficult to make it look any more natural in that pose. I probably won't try to add fire again since it causes too many overlaps on an already complicated design.

To artic:
The lower body and head seem very two dimensional, even for a sketch and it's difficult to tell a light source with the gradient-like shading. The best part is the arms but since it looks as if the jets behind would propel him forward he looks unbalanced standing straight up.

Advice? Try a more dynamic pose if you can manage.
 
Yeah, that's why I said I have to re-do the legs, you see he's meant to be crouching...

I like yours wyverii, I think the cannons need to be thicker though
 
Cannons need to be thicker, as Arctic said, also, the insides of the cannons do not look right. If not have a lava effect inside of them, made the insides look wooden.
 
I still would like to see just a tad of fire on his body, other than that it's shaping up to be really nice Wyverii.

Its face is awesome. I really like this, with the exception of the arms. They look too curved, skinny, and a bit 'off' in posture. I think the right arm should be closer to the body, larger, and the arms made a bit straighter and more 'rigid' on the wooden bits.


Just my 2 cents.

I think Wyverii's would be by far the best one if, like some people already mentioned, the cannons, especially the right one, were much thicker, bulkier, and more rigid looking. I like the face and the pose so much, but the arms seem really out of place. I also think there should be less arm between his body armor and his cannon.

Yeah so I think if the arms were repositioned a bit then Wyverii's would be the best one, although I still really like Atyroki's alot - I still haven't chosen my favorite
 
Woah, Wyverii. That looks amazing. Going along with what other people say, I think that if you took some of these suggestions, it would be the best here by a lot. Not only is it beautiful aesthetically, but it really has a personality of its own.

I'm pretty dumbfounded by all the talent in the thread. =/
 


Here's my submission. I'm very new to spriting and this was my first serious work. But I suppose it could have been worse :/
 
Got the outline and base colors down. I can already tell this will be about 10x better than the last sprite.

Tomorrow around this time will see the end of him.

awesome... mmm problems... the hair is attached a bit oddly, and.. the eye could be improved a bit.
