With my run on Playtest Tournament Matches ending, I decided to post my thoughts on Obliteryx's impact on the metagame.

Initially, the idea of a Pokémon capable of checking Zamazenta, Reven, and Chugg in a single slot sounds great for teambuilding. And with the concept "perfect Conditions", Opportunist looked interesting. However, we received an offensive threat that can develop its own condition 100% of the time by itself, with a incredible bulk, good typing both offensively and defensively, and a movepool that might look shallow on paper but packs the necessary utility moves to make it a massive threat to balance teams.

Terry will always generate progress in a game due to its absurdly strong damage output especially on switch-ins.

Volkraken, which is Analytic user, is balanced around the fact that its STABs are resisted by Water-types—one of the most important types when building a team—and that its strongest STABs have low accuracy.

Terry, on the other hand, has two STABs of equal power with fewer resistances, plus a EXTREMELY POSITIVE secondary effects like burning or removing items.

Its best checks are Phys Def Shox, Phys Def Glisc, and Tyranitar. The first is quite passive, and the other two lack reliable recovery. Therefore, they can be easily exploited or used as bait for other dangerous mons like SubTect Kyurem.

During CAPPL, it remained in the top 3 most used every week, maintaining a high WR% in 5 out of 7 weeks (Notably W4 and W6).

The main issue with Obliteryx is its ability Analytic, which is the main reason that generate controversy around the Pokémon and what I sincerely believe puts it in an unhealthy spot for the metagame.

IMO Analytic should be removed from his kit.
