CAP 4 CAP 4 - Ability Discussion

How about Gadgets? Short and simple, very Utility: you can imagine it leaving all its wacky stuff all over the place. Kind of like the Spikes effect.

I like Poison Point and Persistent.
Poison Point is a perfect "normal" ability. Nothing outrageous, but has some usefulness. It also would emphasize the Poison typing on this thing. It IS the primary type, y'know. All those spikes on the design lend good visual support for this ability.
As for Persistent, I liked the alternate name Multitask, as it fits more intuitively with all the hands. But it sounds too much like Multitype, and has a completely different effect. The last thing we needs is people LOL-ing that we made a new Arceus. Let's stick with "Persistent". Persistent is not broken at all, and is perfect if we really want this pokemon to spur some new teamplay strategies.
As to the auto-Pursuit ability -- I don't think it's grossly overpowered, but it could be more game-changing than you think. Anything that automatically affects HP, is a BIG deal in pokemon. Just look at Sandstream, Leftovers, Stealth Rock, Poison Heal, etc. Even though those things affect health by a relatively small amount normally -- it has a huge effect on the overall play of the game. Introducing an auto-Pursuit (even though it's only 10%) could be a very big deal.
Also, on a technical note -- Pursuit is a very complicated move from a programming perspective. Taking into account speed, different switching situations, Baton Passes, U-Turns, pokemon fainting on the way out, ... it goes on and on. It's a real pain in the ass. And it has bugs already. I'm really not looking forward to making an ability that works off similar mechanics to Pursuit. If the community really wants to go there, I'll do it. But, for purely selfish workload-avoidance reasons, I hope we don't do it.
I think people should not focus so heavily on creating new abilities. Most new ability ideas get stupid really quickly.

In what wrong way? Parting Gift could mean he's giving the foe a little "present" before leaving. It could also imply that before he leave the stage, he leave his foe with a little something.
Marbles? Yu-gi-oh cards? grenades? porno tapes? I would say type-dependent cherry bombs.
Don't forget the rubber duckies, BDSM whips, shoe waxing kits and wild manatees. (:
Does it not have near pefrect stats for what it will be doing? It already outclasses pokes with the same typing and fill the supporter role. ie: Nidoqueen. If I am not mistaken Nidoqueen is used mainly for support and it also has a Defensive and Offensive ability. Poison Point and Rivarly. Yes, I want this poke to be good but why should EVERY aspect of it be absolutely perfect... if you get what I'm saying.
I'm saying Persistent and Frisk, although Poison Point, would be an okay alternative to either one.
well Nidoqueen is UU, and we're trying to make an OU poke... if it didn't outclass Nidoqueen it would outright suck.
I could go for some Persistent and Iron Fist action myself. A balance between an offensive ability and a defensive ability sounds cool to me.
Iron Fist seem fitting as it has eight huge-ass hands to pummel someone with, also you cannot image this guy not learning any fist related moves. It could use it for some gimmicky physical sweeping set.
Persistent greatly effects his purpose in life even more by allowing seldom seen strategies to be a tad bit more viable. Persistent by definition fits the effect of this ability like a glove, and I don't see any problems with it.

That's totally not his point. He's saying that a Pokémon doesn't need two outstanding abilities (like Revenankh … I mean, Shed Skin and Air Lock? Seriously?) in order to be competitive-viable, and that sometimes the flavor or otherwise excellence of one ability is worth more than the unbridled fanboyish power of another.
Also, Overtime is so much better than Persistent. It's like comparing bread to cake! That's how much better Overtime's flavor is. It's like comparing me to Bruce Lee! That's how much more of a punch Overtime packs. If it's named Overtime, I'll definitely vote for it, but I really can't if it's named something as utterly bland and underwhelming as Persistent.
On a side note: GO KLUTZ!!!!!!! I want to Fling an Iron Ball at something for 130 base power!!!!!!!!!!!!! Or Switcheroo on a Choice Band! How awesome and original is that??

Both Overtime and Persistent work as far as I see and I like both, but I don't see why Persistent is less appealing then Overtime.
It's also not very original considering that Klutz Tricking is Lopunny's only lot in life.
