hydrodolphin, ground hits 4/10 for SE damage as well, hits everything except levitating Stratagem and Zapdos, and it resists Paleo Wave/SR.

I'd say ground>fighting unless I'm missing something.

Reposting list because it contains info that needs to be seen. Had posted it here before, but deleted it because I thought I was doing something bad :<

Common weakness betwee Pokemon
-----------------------------------------
Water weak
: Stratagem, Tyranitar, Fidgit, and Heatran
Ground weak: Non-Levitating Stratagem, T-Tar, Fidgit, and Heatran
Fighting weak: Stratagem, T-tar, Heatran, Blissey
Steel weak: Stratagem, T-tar, and Syclant
Fire weak: Scizor and Syclant
Rock Weak: Syclant, Pyroak, and Zapdos
Ice weak: Zapdos and Figdit
Flying weak: Syclant , Revvy, and Pyroak
Psychic weak: Fidgit and Revvy

From this list I can say that choosing Water, Ground, or Fighting is your best bet in checking at least half of the Pokemon within the top 10. Combining either one of them with a supportive type and/or ability would further it's ability to check Pokemon.

But ground doesnt always get one of its SE against stratagem. And Fighting has two priorties, so no matter how CAP6's stats turn out, it will have a priorty. STAB ground is worthless against CM Stratagem, while Mach Punch OHKO's

It may or it may not. Don't assume all fighting types get Mach Punch and Vacuum Wave, because there are a bunch that don't.

ummm....am i the only one thats gonna mention how much water is dominating in the polls? its at 20 the last time i checked and nothing else has passed 5

I really hope it doesn't end up water/fighting because it would lose badly to zapdos.
if it learns ice punch it'll be okay(seriously, a water/fighting that doesn't have the ability to learn that just shouldn't exist). also, its better than the alternative of water/ground, which we already have multiples of.

Don't we have enough waters? Though I am unsure of this metagame that I do plan on playing soon. I'd be bored to death with a water, ground, or fighting.

Plus who's to say that it has to resist these main threats with it's typing, it can still check them by other means.

Water/Fighting would be bad because, as the_artic_one said, Zapdos would own it.

And the mankey line, poliwrath, the machop line, heracross, combusken/blaziken, the makuhita line, the meditite line, and gallade get neither mach punch or vacuum wave w/o move tutor (Do they seriously get V-Wave by tutor now?).
That is incorrect! Platinum gives Vacuum Wave to all of them through a Move Tutor.

I voted for water. It hits 4 of the top 10 for super-effective damage and hits the rest neutrally. This is very nice, since it allows us to go the route of giving it a secondary typing that will allow it to come in on more of them, without having to worry about being able to hurt them with it. There's also of course the option of going a more offensive route and let it hit as many of them as possible for super-effective, although doing so would most likely lower its ability to come in. Either way though, water seems like a very nice starting point.

Maybe its because all the people who actually play on the server are finally standing up for ourselves because we know the metagame.

wait tennis, thats not the type of comment that should be made from someone that originially supported electric/dragon

I like Water alot, except for the fact that it is weak to Zapdos. Creating a new Water/Ground won't really help, since Swampert is already beastly and it can't handle Zapdos 100% of the time. Besides that, I like Water though, and it combos well with the most of the other types being suggested.

Although I really like Gorm's idea with Ground, so my vote is still up in the air, convince me.

well, ground hits 4 SE (3 if gem has levitate) and resists a large number of the popular attacks of the top 10 and gives its a immunity to electric and more importantly t-wave. plus on the top 10, few have grass and water attacks, so your only major worry becomes ice.

I do support it. Just not this time. And really, what comment am I supposed to make, blindly support my personal choice when I've been proven wrong?

Ground cause it hits many types supper effective and resists Bullet Punch.

Not really sure where I should've said this, but the untruthyness of this is apparent. :P

To be honest, if Water wasn't available as an option, Ground would probably be my choice, because of the Electric immunity Water only wished it had, built in resistance to Rock, supereffective on Tar, Heatran, Fidgit, and in some cases, Strata. Cool notice is that, if it was Ground, Strata's two advantages over it would be, for the most part, mutually exclusive. Giga Drain really wants Technician, but for that, it loses Ground immunity. Energy Ball is pretty much a nonfactor on most Stratagem, but, then, maybe CAP6 would change that.

Water's still a cool type, though, and some of the faults present with it could always be helped by secondary typing, movepool, and stats. Rock, high Attack, and a workable Speed could help it do a number on Zapdos and Pyroak... but that's getting really ahead of things.

theres no reason for you not to support water if you believe in that now, its just that your statement was strong so it sounded like you always supported it.

A Poison type mixed with somethin else would be interesting in my eyes. Defensively inclined, and with a way to bypass it's main worrys.

Sounds a bit like Fidgit! ;3

I like the idea of a Ground+Water combination, focusing on Ground/Rock for physical attacks and Water/Ice for special ones. But for the purpose of choosing a main type, which is the focus right now, I'd go with the advantages Ground would have against the top pokemon in this metagame.

Okay-Vote for Fighting. Only Zapdos, Revvy, and Fidgit resist/are immune to Fighting, which can be solved with Ice and Dark attacks (sry about poll jumping). Fighting kills T-Tar better, still kills Heatran, and always kills Stratagem (always). And Blissey is much more intimidating than Fidgit.

Fighting resists rock, bug and dark, two of which are very common in CAP. Oh yeah, and Flying and Psychic aren't what you'd call the most common types (even though flying is very good in CAP).

Or you could do what we do now and build the rest of your team around it. Seriously I'm not picking on you Mag, but why can't we accept that it just won't get past some things and concentrate on what it can get past? What's so bad about letting it get checked by 3/10 Pokemon? Answer: Nothing.

I actually have wanted a Water Pokemon for a while (I'm tired of Vappy/Suicune), but yeah I'm always assertive like that.

I said some, not all. It wouldn't necessarily have to deal with everything in the top ten, but ideally we'd be giving it options to help deal with the large majority (like, maybe somewhere in the vicinity of 7-9 of them). Water/Rock was only a suggestion of what could be done, really.
