CAP Battle

I tried opening my port, but it tells me I have to use a LAN connection. Anyone know what gives and will this stop me from playing from someone hosting?

So, Pyroak's Solar Beam doesn't stop projectiles... I think it certainly should. I just lost because I used Solar Beam on Strata when he was using Ancient Power, it came out right as my super started, and proceeded all the way across the stage to hit me right as I finished my super to get by the rocks and die lol.

@Xaq: I think it means you need a comp that is directly wired to the router to use port forwarding.

Pink, isnt Pyroak already broken enough :P

Anyways, Im finding Strata to be even better now that I have learnt to adjust the angle of power gem consistently. Currently trying to Paleo Wave as soon as I leave the ground, as well as Power Gem as soon as I leave the ground. Soemtimes in a sweatin fight i pull them out accidentaly, but its soo hard to do for me on purpose :(

If I were to label the CAP-mon on difficulty of picking up and using it would be...

Easiest

Argo
Strata
Rev
Fidget
Pyroak
Syclant
Hardest

Really? So that means that I picked the hardest to play CAP-mon to begin with and managed to get good enough to kill Sweatin' in 4 hours? Man, I'm better at fighting games then I thought. Hm..

At first I thought Stratagem sucked but as far as pvp goes it's probably one of the best just b/c of the ease of using it.

If the computer is controlling the characters I found Pyroak, Rev, then Syclant the hardest.

Hey, sorry I haven't been around the past couple of days.

MetalGarX, an IRC channel sounds great. If you're willing to put it up, I'll post the information in the OP. It'd perhaps be the draw needed to get more people playing online.

Thanks for pointing that out about Solarbeam, Pink. It really should nullify other projectiles shouldn't it? Something I hadn't considered.

Man Cartoons! I was so torn when we had our battle for playtesting on whether to play more on CaP or ask you to host a match.

Oh well, too late now haha.

@MetalGarX, Pyroak really isn't broken when a person plays him. The computer just makes him a beast because of the super-human reaction times. Honestly though, Syclant gives me much more trouble than Pyroak does on Sweatin' now that the charge time was fixed.

@Cartoons!, yeah, it really should haha. Just a minor thing really, but it just makes sense that a giant beam of solar energy would stop a projectile more than an Energy Ball or Ember.

T_T Pyroak's throw needs to be nerfed. It makes a powerful projectile user capable of being completely untouchable up close, and seems to have priority over every other attack bar Stratagem's jab. Reducing its knockback would rebalance that. Also note Pyroak's reach means some CAPs can't even hit him before he grabs you.

So, if this were true, my 2 mains are the easiest and the hardest to use? cool.

And about Pyroak being too overpowered: Give him a small nerf that makes him unable to do a grab/special/etc withing a small timeperiod after 1 is used (something like 0.3 sec, could be adjusted). a human can't combo that fast unless he is using macros, which makes him a living bot due to the speed he can throw out shit. with that small nerf the bot can't do all the comboing it does now, and it wouldn't affect normal human players fighting each other.

I actually have the channel all registered, Im just waiting for you to get on Cartoons!, upon which I will gladly transfer qops to you

Also I agree, Syclant is a bitch in Sweating, especially for an air based mon like STrata

I disagree with the Easy-Hard list. WIth Pyroak I went through sweating on my first try with no losses and beat the boss, just using Uproot - > Flamethrower and spamming Energy Ball Strong.

STrata is not that easy to use, you need to get your spacing well sorted, as well as be able to wall jump consistently. I agree with Syclant being hard to use, I still cant get a good combo off with him

Nah don't nerf him. I love the challenge that Sweatin' presents. If I were to request anything it would be to allow Stratagem and Fidget to have a 'non-stop' dash instead of the insignificant quick 1 step dash.

Strata came naturally to me and was very easy. Even against Syclant, he's pretty easy to beat, as long as you're smart about when you jump.

Hm, perhaps I'm getting this wrong? What server should I be connecting to, MGX?

Also, I'll be hosting a game for a little bit if anyone wants to try connecting to me again.

Okay, so I beat the game on sweatin' with Pyroak (yeah, the boss was insane!!). I died a total of five times. What's next?

Hm..right, to whoever's trying to connect right now, give me a second to get my act together. This is my first time trying to host since I rebooted a lot of stuff, so I'm going to see what I can do to set things right again.

edit: now this is aggravating...I can't seem to play the game on or offline. Or any FM game for that matter...I'm going to see if I'm missing any drivers or what. Has anyone else had a problem where the game window opens up and then shuts down immediately?

This is pretty fun, haven't messed with online play though. Fidgit is pretty fun to play as, beat Breezin' with him very easily... but geez, are most players at the skill level of the Sweatin' AI, or is the computer just psychic/"a cheating bastard"? Because wow, if that's how the average Pyroak player is, I might as well not attempt online at all.

Edit: Or not, I found a strategy that made Pyroak incredibly easy. But still, how good is the average player? Am I going to get raped my first time online? Because that's usually what happens to me in fighting games, hurrr.

Edit2: The secret boss randomly caused me to dissapear after grabbing me. Which kind of sucks, because he had more health and now I'm going to lose via timeout. He also seems a bit overpowered to me, but that might just be because I'm annoyed since I have trouble damage him (fidgit's grab -> J.5c -> 5C combo doesn't even work on him because his hitbox is too small)

Edit3: Or not, timeout is a tie and I won, awesome. But yeah, fun game, is there any sort of irc channel for netplay?

@Lurker

The computers on Sweatin' have amazing reflexes, so don't pay too much attention to them. Most of the people who frequent this thread can beat the computers, but that doesn't mean they play the game as amazing as the computers do.

lol the final boss as fidgit is easy get up close and spam strong attack... although thats the way i beat everybody (with jumping to dodge stuff)

Hurrr, maybe I'm giving the computer too much credit, I expected that they'd just block if I spammed attacks.

On that note, I'm hosting in the lobby if anybody wants to play. Haven't played online at all yet so I'm probably kinda bad, haha.

Lurker, check the videos in the OP to see about average battling level (or the only fighters of us yet ;P). And don't worry, I went online after I had barely beaten breezin', and I did quite well if I may say so myself.

Well then. It seems the game won't start if there's a period anywhere in the directory it's in.
I'll be hosting a game on and off for most of today until the sun goes down. If I'm online on Smogon, I'll probably be in the Lunaport lobby as well.

The AI in this game is an ugly combination of superhuman reflexes and dumb as nails common sense. I'll see what I can do make them more realistic, but I'll leave in most of the advanced combos as a guide to what is feasible in the game.
