Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
It's a little late, but I've completed the drawings of the CAP 34 submissions. I've been enjoying seeing my progression as an artist with drawing everyone's final submissions. I'm very proud of my virusmon as well, even if it didn't make it past poll 1. I look forward to what CAP 35 brings!
I’ve been dreaming up a hypothetical CAP region over the last month, and in a stroke of inspiration I decided to design a cover for this hypothetical game, which I dub Pokemon Canvas.
we now have our first own CAP TCG workshop running in the Off Topic Forum in the Discord (for now).
Anyone who loves TCG - be it playing the game, collecting the cards for their Art or nerding out on the correct wording of move effects - they will find a home there or at least a place that’s nice to visit.
We have a quite informal process to design cards with both competitive aspects and artworks for the CAPs. You can also just join and hang out and discuss your ideas for any CAP TCG Card you like.
We’ve just started so everything is fresh and new.
That said I’m excited to share our first finished Card:
Caribolt ex.
Now as you might see the Card isn’t really finished.
So far we’ve talked about competitive aspects of the Card and settled on what you can see below. We’ve also held votes on the Ability and Move Names.
As of now we don’t have an Artwork though.
I would be super stoked if we could find contributors, who design Artworks for this (and coming) Card(s) and hold a little design contest between the submissions.
If you’d like to join the contest, find us in the CAP discord and submit your design. I’ll be joining the contest myself.
- As for design rules (there aren’t any) just make sure that the image you submit either fits the Artwork window ratio or a full Art card ratio.
- Any static visual art medium is allowed.
This includes drawings, sculptures, collages, 3d renderings, paperart, origami, whatever you like. - The only thing I’d ask is not simply copying the original Artwork of the CAP into the artwork.
I’ll set a tentative deadline for submitting Artworks to December 8 (one week from now) I might extend it depending on turnout.
P.S. this does not mean that you have to go through us if you have any TCG Art for any CAP. We are not official.
If you wanna share your own creations here or the discord no one can stop you.
Given that I haven’t received any other subs for the Caribolt Art, I’m gonna share my versions.
The finished Caribolt ex and Caribolt ex Full Art Rare.
If you were working on any Art for this, we are still looking for Art for regular Caribolt and its preevolutions. Fawnifer already has someone working on it afaik, but feel free to share your designs here or in the TCG off topic channel in the discord.
Since we are working quite fast on other cards (currently on Smokomodo), I think I wanna change up how we do Art for them.
If you want to work on any CAP TCG art and are willing to share them in the TCG channel, we will use them as soon as we get to making that particular CAP. I have a document set up to note down any Card we have worked on, and once someone submits art for that CAP we can share that as well.
Anyway if no one else does it I guess I’ve gotta do 110 illustrations for the CAPs :o

Hi there! I have a quick question regarding use of CAP Pokémon in fan games as I'm creating a game with a good number of them in it currently.
I have read the stipulations that must be followed when I use them, however, I have edited some stats to be lower (such as the Cupra line having their BSTs reduced down to regional bug levels as opposed to pseudo) and changed abilities (such as the Monohm line having Electromorphosis & Cloud Nine over Shield Dust & Damp), would this count against the third stipulation of being consistent with the design elements and themes of the characters?
Or is the third stipulation more referring to keeping the concept of the CAP in place so like how Aurumoth is high risk, high reward, & how Cyclohm is all about abilities that are useful, but aren't on Pokémon that can make them work?
Just wanting to double check now while I'm still in the planning stages so I can properly add these great designs in while following the stipulations to use them when I get to adding Pokémon into the game.

As it stands, it does count against being consistent with the design elements. (Using your examples, you altered the Cupra line into a regional bug when CAP more-or-less agreed that it is a pseudo, and your changes to the Monism line certainly count as a buff)
Also, there is a literal thread that has answered this question. Read it there.
Well, I did say I would do this, so here we go. Setting locations in Paldea for all CAP mons. I know the explanations may be vague or even nonexistant, a lot of these are just gut feelings which are hard to explain.
Everything after CAP 32 I'll probably only put in DLC locations
Considering Brown4Sides hasn't been active for nearly a year, thought I'll try my hand to place where the S/V CAPs could be found in-game. I might do my take on where the CAPs could be found in previous gens as well later.
As CAP operates under the assumption these are modded in (for obvious reasons), in order to encounter CAPs, you must have an Encounter Meal Power active for them to spawn in.
South Province: Area Six {Town & Flowers}
East Province: Area Two {Prairie & Towns}
West Province: Area One {Flower}Area Two {Prairie & Towns}, Area Three {Prairie & Towns},
North Province: Area One {Mountain & Flower}, Area Two {Flower}, Area Three {Prairie & Flower}
*Pokémon League {Flower}
**Area Zero {Prairie}
**Torchlit Labyrinth
Reasoning: They (read, Scattervein) appear in locations where other Nurse Joy-esk mons () could be found with a 100% group rate alongside Ababo, in a similar vein to , though it will also have a 30% chance to be holding a Fire Stone (I'm going to take advantage and do a bit of rare instance of story & gameplay integration here that we're otherwise not limited to: Scattervein is too ditzy to know how to use a Fire Stone).
*Ababo has an additional exclusive spawn near the Pokémon League like .
**Hemogoblin has additional exclusive spawns in Area Zero like , as well as the Torchlit Labyrinth like with a 50% group rate alongside Ababo.
South Province: South Paldean Sea {Ocean}
East Province: East Paldean Sea {Ocean}
West Province: West Paldean Sea {Ocean}
North Province: North Paldean Sea {Ocean}, Casseroya Lake {Lake & Ocean}
Fellhorn Gorge {Lake & Riverside}
Crystal Pool {Lake}
Coastal Biome {Ocean}
Reasoning: lol I'm not explaining this one... though I will note that Cresceidon have a 30% chance to be holding a Moon Stone. (this is hinted to be from their horn) :Chuggon::Draggalong:
South Province: Inlet Grotto
East Province: Area Two {Prairie & Rocky Areas}, Area Three {Mines}
West Province: Area Two {Prairie, Town & Rocky Areas}
Paradise Barrens {Rocky Areas}
Infernal Pass {West Cave}
Chargestone Cavern {Wasteland}
Reasoning: Did you know Inlet Grotto is where you can pick up a Dragon Dance TM? East Province is where , can be found, West Province for , Paradise Barrens is one location for to spawn, Infernal Pass is where you can catch {These four lines have been utilised for the Pokedex subs at the moment) Chargestone Cavern references Chuggalong's trait of absorbing minerals.
Draggalong have a 5% chance to be holding Charcoal, while Chuggalong have a 5% chance to hold Black Sludge. & its nameless pre-evo.
East Province: Area One {Prairie}, Area Two {Prairie}
Well, let's start with the basics. In Gen IV, only the first eleven will be featured, and this will cover in Diamond, Pearl (by extension BDSP, sadly) & Platinum. As much as I want to add in options for HeartGold/SoulSilver, the only 'new' Pokémon added there not from Johto are those whose pre-evos are and evolve by level up with a certain move, and we lack dex entries for them.
The CAPs are all exclusively encountered either as mass outbreaks at 40% rates or through the Poké Radar at 22% rates.
Reasoning: All the initial locations are water-based routes. Platinum adds in the Lakefronts.
Diamond|Pearl: Eterna Forest (night) {Poké Radar}
Platinum: Eterna Forest (night), Fuego Ironworks, Iron Island, Sendoff Spring {Poké Radar}
Reasoning: Nohface's dex states it was driven into the forest by humans. Platinum adds in the Fuego Ironworks & Iron Island because of its evolution; Lost Tower and the Sendoff Spring, given their name...
Reasoning: The routes where Sinnoh's native Electric-types can be found. Platinum adds in rainy routes (Monohm's dex states it likes humid weather), buildings, and the mountain.
