Chandelure

Sand is everywhere because people love Tyranitar. He can run a ridiculous amount of sets and just do so much. He goes into stall teams, balanced teams and offensive teams. He can run curse sets, dragon dance sets, mixed sets, etc. He's just friggin perfect. It's not so much that sand is everywhere, it's just Tyranitar. I guess there's also Hippowdon.

SubCM Shandera is great. I would prefer sub nitro charge if it wasn't for the fact that heatran could do it better.

My Nitro Charge set still IS one of the best late game sweepers hands down. Seriously it's a fucking bulldozer.

As for the TTar thingy, I've seen way more Hippos than Tars. Weird.

My SubCM is more beastly >:O

Anyway,I see a crap ton more T-tars than Hippos.
They're so annoying too T_T

He's a pain in the ass, especially when your opponent is decent and keeps him as far away as possible from anything that could even remotely lay a scratch on him. Even if you play well, you probably won't sweep once ttar is gone since he'll be the last pokemon.

By the way, taunt/CM all the way.

-_- People complain about overcentralization with rain but there's way more sand teams. They're the reason I quit competitive battles. Most boring thing EVER.

I am also tired of Tyranitar.

That sounds like a good commercial.

"Tired of Tyranitar? Hate Hippowdon? Then get a Golduck!"

T-tar is just so beastly.
All his stats are in JUST the right places and he has JUST the right move pool to abuse them.
I have a feeling T-tar will always be OU,despite his crappy defensive typing.

Anyway,we're kinda straying off-topic xD

You know, everyone said Chandy's SubCM set was absolute crap, yet it's becoming my favorite set.

StallBreaker

Chandelure -Modest/Timid @ Salac Berry
252 Sp.Attack/252 Speed/4 Def - HP Must be divisible by 4
-Flamethrower/HP Fighting/HP Ground
-Shadow Ball
-Substitute
-Calm Mind

Simply amazing against stall.
Only bulky waters not named Jellicent can actually handle this thing.
I absolutely LOVE switching in on Forrettress that get greedy and decide to just lay a ton of hazards, allowing me to CM up to +4 or more and with stand even the strongest special attacks.
It loves long walks in the park, and "counters" that can only slightly out speed it.

That stallbreaker set I posted also does decently against rain.
After 1 CM,you'll do 83% - 98% with a Shadow Ball to Kindra.
You'll always OHKO Kabutops with a +1 Shadow Ball.
You'll do 77% - 91% to Ludicolo.

It can't always OHKO,but it can help in weakening the Trio behind its sub,as Shadow Ball knocks them down to under 50% HP without a CM.

I coulda sworn smogon banned illegal dw abilities. Oh well. Learn to play around it and stop crying. There's a crapload of ways to do so.

More like is Shadow Tag Chandelure even released yet? Would banning Shadow Tag affect Chandelure in any way in OU? Not really I believe is the answer...

It doesn't really matter when it's released. It's going to be released soon, and when it is, OU is gonna suck. Okay, think about it this way. How did shadow tag wobuffet affect OU last gen?? This thing is basically wobuffet with a much larger movepool and better stats overall. Do we really want to allow something like that in OU??

I think he's a Dream World OU player. Chandelure is almost as common as the weather-changers there, and Shadow Tag is broken by default...

(P.S. How about we leave the constantly cycling arguments to the main Shadow Tag thread?)

Actually, no Gen 5 pokemon have had their DW abilities released, there is speculation they only will with the third game - ie. not for quite some time.

In any case, your whole point is irrelevant since the current suspect process (somewhat obviously) can only deal with things currently in the metagame. We simply cannot preemptively ban things based on theorymon. Shadow Tag Chandy is not legal, so discussing it's need to be banned (or Shadow Tag's) from OU in this thread is pretty pointless.

Actually I love how it traps and kills weather inducers. Seriously, it's some sort of anti metagame pokemon! Personally I'm totally okay with this in OU.
And yes, I'd LOVE if we didnt start talking about shadow tag. For the 26th time in this thread.

If I recall correctly we actually did ban one ability already (inconsistent). If there are any doubts, why not just test shadow tag wobb in OU?? I'm sure that whatever the results we get for him will be 10 times worse when we test shanderaa.

Eh, I'm pretty sure wob is ou.
Edit: never mind, Wobb is way more broken.
Shandera just traps and kills, wob allows you to set up for an overkill sweep late game or revenge like Shandy.

Uh, Inconsistent was released on several pokes, hence being present to be banned. I meant that the 5th gen pokemon have nt had their DW abilities yet.

And we could test Wobb, but it would probably be a test of Wobb himself and not ST - unless it is also found broken on Wynaut. We can't preemptively ban it because we know Chandelure will eventually get it.

They both have the same ability. I really don't see how they're that different.

SO HOW 'BOUT THAT ACID ARMOR CHANDELURE?

(Please, let's avoid a shadow tag discussion here...)

They play very differently, woob helps sweepers set up and it is a very supportive pokemon while ST Shandy is more of a revenge killer.

Actually, I dont see how Luvdisc and Kingdra are remotely different, by that logic. You sire have earned my total respect.

Also Acid Armor + Minimize sounds overtroll, but beware crits or special hits. >_>
Whatever, just avoid ST discussion at all costs.

Edit. Serperior and Shuckle both have the same abilities as well. Your argument is like moxie, it just keeps getting better.

Oh no! THE PUNS! THE PUNS!!! THE PUNS!!!!!!!!!!

There's a Shadow Tag thread here.

If only Chandelure was an electric chandelier...Thunderbolt would be awesome.

Will-O-Wisp/Purgatory + Evil Eye looks fun, but unfortunately your top priority pokemon that need to get burned resist or may be immune to Evil Eye.

I was also considering Chandelure with Zoroark, but the difference in Stealth Rock damage could give it away to an alert opponent (therefore, this combo is best done at approximately 3:30 A.M. lol) and their coverage moves are way too similar, not to mention how Zoroark deals a lot less damage with Flamethrower than Chandelure. Zoro gets fighting moves for dark and rock types (and both in one pokemon), though. Also, Chandy lacks Dark Pulse which often screams something suspicious.
That sucks, because I like Zoroark.

That's like the seating in an aeroplane, where the first-class seats (approx 40-something %) are less likely to keep you alive than the back row seats (approx. 69%). What does this have to do with Chandelure? You just said it, and I provided a real-world application. But to make this relevant, the 50/50 chance does come with high power to cripple the opponent further. Maybe it could find use in a Gravity/Telekinesis+Wide Lens team? (I know, too much overcompensation for a viable team).

Gravity>Telekinesis, because while Telekinesis makes Purgatory 100% accurate it is only for 3 turns. Gravity makes it 83% accurate for 5 turns.

Claw Sharpen Purgatory Mixed Charizard!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh wait, wrong thread...

Chandelure doesn't even learn Gravity. Only Telekinesis. You only get 3 turns max from Gravity anyway due to having to switch, so unless your whole team benefits from Gravity, it's not really- am I seriously typing this like it was serious?
