chaos needs help: IRC client

Nice work, Zracknel. The only concern I might have is that whenever I see that logo, I can't think of anything else other than the "Banana Phone" song. I'm not sure "Bananavine" will identify with that so easily.

Am I the only one?
 
i thought of that as well cardofthehearts. while the larger images are fine (where you can still see the vine representing the phone line), this is harder to see in the smaller images

that being said, it is a minor issue for some clearly outstanding work. well done mate!

yeah i'd still say Zracknel's is one of the best so far... any criticisms i did have were nit-picks. so far icepicks and zracknels are my favourites, they both look good artistically, and represent the programs name and purpose very well
 
Zracknel's is perfect. He got the concept, the colors, and everything. I for one didn't have the song come to mind, but besides, things catch on better when people can relate it to something else that they know. It reduces the uncomfortability of trying something new.
 
It might be just be me, but i think that zracknel's design could be a little bit better with brighter colors. as for me, I like Icepicks the best.

This would be swing number two. Not the strongest, conceptually... but, it transitions well into the smaller sizes, has a better shape, and snazzier typography. I was a bit pressed for time... if you like this direction, I'm sure it could be improved.

Well, my work is nowhere near as slick as Zracknel's. However, I tried to play around with some ideas (And combine a few that were posted in this thread), and came up with this:

That last design looks really awesome, but I'm not sure how it would look as a 16x16 when it's fixed (I assume the one you have is just a quick scale-down)
 
A scale down could just include the banana waves. I love that design, and it's my favorite out of all of them so far.

Well, Zracknel's third submission is indeed quite awesome and intimidating... The banana "waves" were just too clever, and it's still far more slick than anything I can make. Still, I am not going to give up yet!

Here is version 3 of my design, this time I extended the vines and tried to reinforce the IRC theme by connecting the banana vines to the "World", representing the internet:

I might need to touch it up a little bit more, but I would like to see if this addition improves the overall design in your opinion.
 
That third one is REALLY good. I like it more than either of the others, although I think that because they are all basically of the same design, they could all be used. Think the IC banana for "settings" the waves as the main one, and the banana phone as a PM icon.
 
since this seems to have died down, i pick your third zracknel. over the break im gonna start making the website!
 
Revisions/tweaks are coming your way; I'll have that stuff posted this weekend.

edit: I'm running a day behind... hopefully that's not a problem.

a day becomes days becomes a week. Here goes. The above is my fix on the logo; the main difference lies in the way the triangles at the bottom of the logo look (they're done with more precision this time).

The logo alone and the 48 X 48 looked good to me-- if you think they need any changes, just say so.

Two options for the 32 x 32... one with larger black spaces and one with smaller ones.

Finally, I conquered the 16 x 16 with the power of contrast.

If you'd like to see anything else, I'll be happy to make any other changes/revisions.
