Choosing Your Online Alias

Just pick your own, real name!

I guess that I sometimes refer myself to a 'prince'. Such as on Shoddy Battle, where you're likely to find me under either 'prince_arrogant' or 'prince trunks'. A prince is a naturally good-looking, talented individual that takes pride in what he does; this is what I personally defined as a 'prince' after watching Dragonball-Z. Vegeta was the prince of all saiyans, and imaginally so was Trunks when he was born; afterall, he is Vegeta's son. Because both characters of the DBZ franchise were my own favourites, I was inspired by every aspect of their natural being. Their attitude, looks, fighting techniques and their desires. Particulary Vegeta - a ruthless fighter who strived to be the best. I just loved it.

This, in its own, was a true inspiration and I wanted to follow a path in a similar way; in this case, my online alias for a community.

Well, Raist comes from Raistlin Majere in Dragonlance.
I chose Magic because in games, My favorite character is always the mage.:pimp:

when i choose an alias it not only has to sound good but look good when written as well

some of my friends call me foreys when they're fucking around with me

see, i was flipping through a surf magazine with a couple friends and we read an article about naming your own break, like trestles or churches or something like that. one of the (fake) names that stood out was "foreys", to be used if one of your crew got dicked by coral while surfing.

a few days later we went out surfing at the seawall. there was a tropical storm brewing a ways out and the surf was pretty good, double overhead or something nice like that. sometime during the course of the day the current took me out to where if i surfed in too far, i would be only inches above an outcropping of sharp coral. i surfed a wave in, hopped off the board into the water, and got gashed by the corner of a rock as it scraped up my inner thighs.

no lasting damage to the boys, but it was close enough.

My other alias name I use is Magna, derived from the yugioh card valkyrion the magna warrior, which happens to be my favorite card. >_>

But Aquirri on the other hand, is my own creation. He is one of the many characters from my book I am currently developing. And when I joined this site, I happen to be in the process of developing his character, so I choose it.

Yeah, I named myself Superstar when I was 14 and was completely unsure of an alias. Got it from Mario Party, big mistake, as now the series sucks and I'm more competitive in other games. But I kept the username for 4 years now because that's what everyone knows me by and most people don't care. I prefer the nicknames SS and Supe being used, but go figure, there is someone here named Supe.

Was originally [XG]Superstar because some guy in August 2007 who never posted took the name, but I mentioned about it in the change name topic and it got changed.

And my little brother was even worse at making names and put Shadowstar, hahaha. Also, anime names scare me a bit.

I don't even remember, really. I think Magmortar was my favorite Pokemon at the time, and I just decided to go for a witty pun.

The world might never know. ._.

I think I got Unideal from a random name I used to test out random team concepts. I just ended up using it so much that it became my main account on Official and Smogon. =S

I don't know why I chose Kingdrom, but I wasn't high. I think it's a conjunction of Kingdra and Kingdom, but it looks like I'm stuck with it. Not that it's a bad username- people don't tend to misspell it from what I see. And it isn't too long or more than one word. It could be worse: I could have a Pokemon followed by numbers for my username.

IIRC I looked around at usernames and realized that I liked the originality of Hipmonlee, my favorite mod at the time I registered. I crafted my username in a similar fashion to his, but now at times my username just seems ridiculous.

On a side note, whenever I write a paper, I can never spell "kingdom" correctly. I don't think that's a bad thing though- I usually catch it most of the time.

It's a long story, full of deceit, treachery and horror.

...

...

Okay, it's my real name.

It's a family of bats, Mormoopidae, which has a hilarious looking skull. Nuff said.
Edit: this pic says it best, look at the side profile (it's actually a sagittal section but you can see it looks like fucking timmy from south park...and the name, oh the name!)

I chose this name when thinking of a nickname to use for Netbattle back in November of 2004. First I tried my middle name, but someone had already taken it at the time. I probably spent the next few minutes attempting to think of something clever or cool but ultimately settled for the most ambiguous name I could think of.

I've since branched outward with this name and use it at most online communities that I am a part of. Unfortunately it can get a bit confusing at times :|

Well, Tsuki Tourou(Toro, but that sounds like "Bull" in spanish) means Lunar Lantern, Moon Lantern, um, any of these two.

Actually, I got that idea from one of IOSYS's album's, which is named Touhou Tsuki Tourou(Touhou Moon Lantern), and yeah...I needed a pseudo-pseudoname, so I just picked that one.I don't wanna be grouped as a weeabo/animetard/etc for having a name in Japanese, though... =/

In other places, I use the same name I have been using for 2~ years now, and it's completely original as I haven't seen anyone else with it in my whole internet-life, and it's my real-life name in Japanese, so it's awwwright...

Edit: You can shorten it to Tsu, I don't really like being called Tsuki, or Tsuki Tourou as the whole.

And yeah, Smogon is the only place where I use a different name.

Well, I can assure you that my name is not supposed to be derived from bologna.

My bros and I were watching Bruce Lee: Enter the Dragon, and Bolo Yeung was acting in that movie. He was some guy who just beat the shit out of people whenever they challenged him to a fight, just referred to as Bolo in the movie. Anyways, as one of the fights was about to start, in the movie, some dude that was on Bolo's side yelled out "Bolo! Go!" in an extremely funny sounding accent. Haha, I didn't think much of it at first, but then whenever we went to Laser Quest, I always named myself "Bolo", and then my bros told me I should change it to "Bologo" for the next game.

Heh, well I did, and what can I say? It's become my online alias from that point on, and it's very rare that I'll use something else. I love my username, and it's easy for people to remember since it's so odd. It's great in such a huge community like this when people can actually remember who you are.

Back when I got Starcraft I couldn't come up with a good name, so I saw a package of skittles on the counter, and went with that.

Yeah, creative... but all the people I knew wouldn't recognize my name if I changed it.

"hbdragon88" derives infrom the initials of the city I was born in and year i was born and my zodiac sign. It was created in 1997 as my first AOL account name. Do I think it helps when I register the nick elsewhere? I rarely register other nicks because of laziness and the fact that it's hard to remember other nicks from other sites unless they've really been ingrained (Nintendo.com was an example, GameFAQs the most dominant one).

I considered registeirng a new nick for this forum, and for a long time used another account on GameFAQs to use the LeafGreen boards, but I've learned not to care about it. If someone actually wants to bring it up/remembers, good for them.

Sometimes I've considered dropping "88," as it reveals how old I am, and I typically prefer to be just called "hbdragon."

Other pseudonyms usually are derived from the state that I perceive myself to be in. The most dominant of these has been the GameFAQs one. When I created my account in 2003, I considered myself to be deluded, living in a fantasy land, so I thought of myself as being exiled from reality, or Exiledfromreality. It's stuck, I prefer using it now, but for every other forum I'll stick with hbdragon88 unless someone imps me.

Well, mine is a variation of the the word 'silver' which due to me being a complete nub when I first entered the internet was what came up with due to wanting to be like a guy named 'Gold'. :p And Silver just stuck with me and I've used that on almost every forum/game i've ever joined, I just use silvaer when Silver is taken.

prince_arrogant instantly made me think of Laharl >_>

I was originally Fishin4pigeon when I joined Smogon back in 05. I'd always been a fan of the multiplayer element of the Pokemon games and an online pvp version of it seemed like one of the coolest ideas ever. Shortly after joining, I realized that netbattle only works on PC's, so after making a few battle tower-related posts I left and forgot all about it. Fast forward 1.5 years, Pokemon D/P is out, GameFAQ's trading board sucks, Tangerine directs me to the superior one here. Of course, I have to register, so I try Fishin4pigeon, which I was still using as my primary alias. It doesn't work, so I just stuck with the next best thing; Fishin. (later, on accident I logged in as Fishin4pigeon since I was still in the habit of using that username on other sites, Surgo offered to merge the accounts under whichever name I liked better, and I decided on Fishin). I've considered changing it since then, but as of yet I haven't come up with anything better.

How did I get Fishin4pigeon in the first place, though? Much as I'd like to whip out some sort of great story to explain it, Fishin4pigeon was just a name I lifted from a comically bad Halo 2 player online.

Well, Kursed is just Cursed with a K. Sounded cool at the time though. My name is Keith so the K is fairly obvious. 23 is the day of my birthday (2/23) but I regret putting it there so I'm hoping to get it changed.
