On June 3rd, a player was discovered to have been in game-related conversation with a spectator. This behavior is banned and has been emphasized in posts 1 and 2 in this thread outside of the ruleset.
In addition, at the start of the game, I reached out to this player and informed him that he should pay special care not to talk to spectators of the game. Nonetheless, this player lied to me and rssp until he was found out about this.
This rule is very important to the integrity of the game. Spectators have privileged knowledge about inter-player relationships and about the game itself. If it were available to survivors then the integrity of the game would obviously be seriously damaged.
rssp and I do not know what kind of information was provided to Umbreon. When Umbreon was asked for a full log with this spectator, he took a very long time. Speaking as the point of contact with him at this time, I strongly suspect that the log provided was edited.
To me, the information provided to this player is not even so important. There is a certain element of trust required among all parties in a game such as this. Lots of rules are in fact unenforceable: I cannot tell if you talk strategy with someone on the other tribe, nor can I tell if someone in FTC tries to convince a juror in private.
Even in the best case scenario (which I do not think is the one we are in), it remains the case that both player and spectator knowingly and consciously violated a rule that I felt was very important. Umbreon knew about this rule because I stressed it to him individually on May 21st, and when confronted earlier today he admitted to this knowledge. Consequently, I do not believe that a warning will strengthen Umbreon's respect for the rules of this game.
There is also the matter of Umbreon admitting to both me and the spectator that he has been playing this game purely with the intent of supporting an ally to win, and with no desire to win himself (I didn't know about this until the swap, otherwise he DEFINITELY would not be in this game). While this is not technically a punishable offense, it certainly does not do him any favors.
Effective immediately, Umbreon will be replaced by Ullar. This is not an ideal solution as this player has already participated in several tribal councils. But at the very least, I can take the necessary steps to prevent the game from being tampered with in the future, and to keep the game going.
My sincerest apologies for my error in casting to the three players who were cut from the playerlist: FormerHope, Airwind, and Toni. My apologies to the players of this game for letting this player into the playerlist: Jalmont, DLE, Wolv, Trace, Hannah, 3P1K, Zorbees, Viper, Alore, RODAN, IFML, Aura, AJ, KoC, Leet, Lanny, and Flyhn. My thanks to the several circus mods who I bugged, and to my spectacular cohost rssp who I have asked to defer to me on this decision.
