Countdown to XY: A Nostalgia Thread

Day 20: How much did you spoil yourself before launch in previous generations?

Iactually don't remember. The earliest I might've spoiled myself on something, not sure, but Gen V I stayed pretty well on top of all spoilers that were present, something that really didn't change with Gen VI.
 
On October 12, I will rush to the nearest Gamestop, buy a Nintendo 3DSXL and Pokémon Y, then start my adventure in Kalos with Pyra my Fennekin. I will probably play the main storyline for hours on end and then find someone to battle with on Wi-Fi.
 
Arrive at Toys R Us (I preordered from there instead of EB games like the noob I am) 5 minutes early to get X, start with dual fire-types (Always been Team Fennekin, but now that I've seen Megazard X I'm sold) and pray to Arceus that there's a grass/electric type (Helioptile?) in the early routes. And then play for pretty much the entire weekend. (We Canadians get a long weekend because Thanksgiving! Woohoo!)
 
if it's a midnight release at my gamestop, im gonna go to bed early around 5 pm (im gonna be exhausted from tests and shit anyway lol), wake up for the midnight release, drive home and play it until our local release party starts

Day 21: What are your plans for release day (October 12)?

Well since it'll be the first week of my holidays I plan on going to the city. I'm gonna set my alarm the night before the release and take the bus down to the nearby mini mall. I plan on being there at exactly 9.00 o'clock on the dot, then I'll grab a McDonald's breakfast befor taking the bus back home. On the way I'll probably get some supplies (chocolate, lollies and other snacks) and start the game. So basically what I did when BW/2 was released.

Well, I'm not dedicated enough to do a midnight launch, but I'll definitely have the game by early morning. The closest outlet to my house is a GameStop a fair distance away, which is the same place I snagged Black version. Now, two and a half years hence, I return like the swallows to Capistrano, driven by my primal need for more pokeymonz. Only instead of a picturesque Spanish mission, I'll be greeted by a guy in a polo shirt trying to sell me on a membership card or a subscription to Game Informer, and I shall say to him "nay". I plan to spend much of the remaining day getting to know my new teammates and taking my big step into the third dimension.

Um since i don't have a 3ds and probably will never get one, I'll probably be sleeping in my room, and crossing my heart as to what wonderful surprises X and Y bring, and going on to Smogon to find that noone is on because they're all playing X and Y
 
Day 21:
Wake up at about 7, go to EB games, get the games and hope to have finished Y as soon as I can by leveling a team of 3-5 evenly and catching any gen 6s I can :)
 
Day 21: I'm going to get up around 06:00 so I can get ready and bike over to the Gamestop downtown so I can get there before the crowd. Once I've obtained the game, I'm going to ride straight home and spend the entire weekend wrapped up in blankets playing Pokemon. THIS, my friends, is life as it was meant to be lived.

Looked up the entire dex for BW and planned everything. So glad there will be mystery this time...

Probably 8-9 hour marathon gameplay session!

I'll be playing Y, off course! :P Silly Stellar.
In terms of what I'll be doing in the game though, I'll probably take it at a fairly fast pace (but not as fast as I finished SoulSilver!).

Well, my plans start on the 11th. I'll head to Walmart around midnight, and pick up the game at midnight. Thn I will go home, sleep, do laundry and homework (The joys of being a college student), then start my adventure.
 
Day 21: I changed shifts at work so that I can get to EB Games first thing in the morning, play all day, then work. If there is a midnight release I will weep with joy.

I would love to go to a midnight release but it's not even an option for me. Last time I asked an EB games worker if they were gonna have a midnight release they said that they wouldn't because Pokémon is a kids game and not many kids would be awake at that hour. Obviously they don't know that Uni students still play the games, which sucks.
 
Day 21: Since I don't have a 3DS yet, I will be crying in my room until I magically have enough cash for one, along with X, and Y if I have enough extra.
 
Hmm plans for October 12th... Well first tomorrow I'm heading out to EB Games to see if I can still preorder it, and then have to wait an agonizingly long week. October 12th is actually also the qualifying day for Australia's biggest race, so I'll be working my day around that, will probably end up playing all night til the big race on Sunday, but will probably not play it as much as I'd like to.

Swing by my local Gamestop, grab my pre-ordered copy of X (Xerneas looks way cooler than Yveltal--don't know what's with the general consensus I've seen that Y>X), and hopefully play it on my modded 3DSXL, which I'm hopeful will have arrived earlier in the week (odds are not looking good).

I'm gonna be standing in a possibly nonexistent line in front of Gamestop. I'm gonna get my Kalos region dual-sided map. I'm gonna get my Through the Years poster. I will grab my Pokémon X, and I will "take" my digital Y. I'm gonna drive recklessly back home and start my HD playthrough of X and post it on Youtube!

*phew* finally got that off my chest.
 
Day 18: Stantler. I'd get rid of Stantler. Why? Because I am irrational and don't like the cut of its jib. Also, my wife's favourite Pokémon is Sawsbuck, and she was most offended by Stantler getting Sap Sipper as its Dream World ability.

Day 19: While playing? Okay, I'd always wanted my wife to get into Pokémon. The first time she ever expressed an interest was when we went down to her parents' house for the weekend, and I brought FireRed with me. I was only playing because I needed a Bulbasaur and Omanyte for my Sapphire game, and I'd just started. She wanted to play, so I let her restart the game, as long as she promised to pick Bulba and Omanyte. I had no link cables or other games, so every Pokémon I'd caught had to die. Bulbasaur, Pidgey ... and a shiny Rattata.

Day 20: Just basic news, but also every single new Pokémon in the game. Sometimes idly browsed lists of new attacks. I'm not a spoiler-phobe for these games, but I also don't consume everything going.

Day 21: I've got a gig! In my real life, I'm a standup comedian, and I'll have been gigging the night before, and I'll have another gig the following evening, and I think there's a five and a half hour car journey between those two gigs. On the other hand, I won't be driving, so I'll be taking my 3DS with me ...

I will get my homework done, do some things I've already agreed to do, and then come by the Game Stop that I pre-ordered Pokemon Y at with a 3DS without any games in the cartridge slot (I'll have games on my 3DS itself to pass time until then, and wait out the probably near-nonexistant line) and buy my copy of Pokemon Y and put it in the 3DS and start my new adevnture.
 
Day 21: Buy the game, play the game. Not much else to it. I'm currently pre-ordered on Y but I'm gonna look into switching it tomorrow when I go to GameStop for Windwaker HD.

My problem is that I won't be able to make up my mind on which version to choose until I know what all the version exclusive species and mega-evolutions are. I may end up picking the game later depending on when that information is known.
