Volcarona @ Choice Band
252 Atk
252 Spd
4 spA
- U-Turn
- Flame Charge
- Wild Bolt
- Rage Powder

U-Turn is standard STAB and lets you switch out of trouble. Flame Charge boosts you speed every turn, making you unstoppable. Wild Bolt is perfect coverage against ALL of Volcarona's main threats. Rage Powder is useful in doubles when you want to keep your Mewtwo or Arceus safe.

Best Set Ever amirite?

But seriously, i've been playing around with Doubles and have seen some crazy strategies people have used.

Turn 1 - Shuckle uses Guard Split on Ally Chansey.
Turn 2 - Shuckle switches out to Whimsicott.
Turn 3 - Whimsicott uses Leech Seed on ally Chansey.
Turn 4 - Shuckle switches back in, restores 1/3 of its health from Leech Seed

So then you have a rapidly regenerating Shuckle and Impossible-to-kill Chansey, ready to stall you to death together.

Hot damn. I mean... really. Hot damn. Sounds awesome.

However, I know that both would get hit hard by toxic, unless chansey has aroma therapy.

... Also, chansey sacrifices left overs for eviolite stone, and when losing hp from leech seed, I know its not happy about that. Luckily its got its soft boiled + half shuckle defense, but still.... Blissey having left overs might be more worth it.

it does seem kinda fun. but really what are you going to be doing to the opts? I dont really see the need in leech seeding chansey just so shuckle can restore health...it seems like you'd just be trading one pokemon for another in the long run.

Using Blissey over Chansey will also mean both it/Shuckle end up with a higher Defense/SpDef stat after Guard Split, which could help.

Eviolite Chansey is bulkier than Blissey... you are benefitting Shuckle if you use Blissey, but if you want more walling go with Chansey.

As for damage, use Toxic and Seismic Toss. You are only hard-countered by Gengar, period.

Triple Tri Attack... Trinity!

Blissey 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD, Bold, Leftovers
Serene Grace

Mimic
Heal Pulse
Ice Beam
Heal Bell

Porygon2 252 HP / 40 Def / 128 SpD / 88 SpA, Calm, Eviolite
Trace

Tri Attack
Recover
Roleplay
Ice Beam

Magneton 252 HP / 128 Def / 128 SpD, Calm, Air Balloon
Sturdy

Roleplay
Recycle
Tri Attack
Thunderbolt

and for good measure, to replace one of the three that die:

Togekiss 252 HP / 64 Def / 64 SpA / 128 SpD, Calm, Leftovers
Serene Grace

Tri Attack
Air Slash
Defense Curl
Roost

I might add in a mimic dunsparse, since he's also bulky and gets roost, though I'm not sure what my last 2 pokemon should be. Don't want to rely too heavily on this strategy as it's kind of impossible to deal with ghosts...

But it's obvious to see what's going on right? Porygon roleplay's blissey who mimics magnezone who then roleplays blissey next turn. Blissey then alternates between heal pulse and tri attack. With a 40% for status every time you use it... it's going to be tough to whittle down these tanks, even if you have lots of fighting attacks / steel types on your team.

Flare Blitz gives you way more power, but of course you don't get any speed boost.
I know you are not serious, but that would at least make some damage to pokes who don't resist it.
If only Volcarona had a better attack stat :/

I love the Shuckle/Chansey thing!

So ive been thinking of playing around with Gengar more, because my team is seriously Volcarona weak.

How viable is my Gengar at performing such a role?

Gengar@Leftovers
4 Hp/ 252 SpA/ 252 Spe
Timid: Levitate
~Shadow Ball
~Snatch
~Focus Blast/ Hidden Power [Fighting]
~Substitute/ filler

Gengar will switch into someone who will flee into a set-up fodder, Volcarona comes in trying to quiver dance... and BOOM! +1 Gengar instantly, making it easier to take on Volcarona and others.

Well Snatch in general has been discussed before, and like I said on that thread Snatch is very situational, I mean sure it's awesome to net you a Quiver Dance or a Shell Smash, but what makes you sure your opponent will switch in into a set up Pokemon in the first place, even if you saw a potential one in their team preview, it might not be one, or even if it is one it might not set up, or another Pokemon will switch in.

You know...I remember battling a Kecleon with my Starmie. Little thing kept Sucker Punching me for super effective damage, and when I needed to recover, Snatch stole it from me!

That could actually work. But you should run HP rock if you want that specifically for Volcarona.
Anyway here's my set:
Latias@Leftovers/Life orb
252 HP/252 Defence/4 Sp.D
Bold: Levitate
Dragon pulse
Calm mind
Recover
Reflect type

This set actually works really well. If one of your pokemon faints send in this pokemon. It'll reflect type to make it so they can't hit you how they thought they would. Proceed to CM, recover if needed to heal then start spamming dragon pulses.

Snatch is just one of those moves that is typical in screwing you over. You except Shell Smash, Dragon Dance, Butterfly Dance etc., only to get hit with CB Icicle Spear / Dual Chop / Fiery Dance or some other unexpected move. Its distribution isn't great and then you sometimes can't even make use of your boosts.

Gengar does seem a good choice, though. It doesn't mind more Special Attack, and failing that, more Speed. The problem I can see is that it can't always be said it lures in stat boosters.

It has good use in Doubles, where it can take alot of nice things for your team to use.

Mirror Type's been discussed before, mainly Latias since that's the one type that can properly take advantage of it. The main problem is that whilst not "situational" per say, only some situations really see it wreak its benefits. Then again, looking at the top OU pokemon, you can really see its benefits - Ferrothorn cannot Leech Seed you or hit hard with STAB, Tyranitar can't pursuit trap you, Scizor can't do much either. Levitate means you can copy Ground-weak types without fear, and copying an Electric type makes you practically without weakness. Dragon's a convenient attacking type, receiving STAB at first, and then going mostly unresisted afterwards.

Mightyena @ Toxic Orb
Nature: Hasty
Ability: Quick Feet
76 HP/252 Atk/ 176 Spe

Sucker Punch
Protect
Facade
Me First

This set is absolutely fun. Checks Machamp, Checks Cloyster, Checks even some Breloom sets, checks any non bulky offense

Who'd of Thought Me First would be such an excellent check to Machamp? Having it eat its own Dynamic Punch and laughing as it hurts itself in confusion.

Latios gets owned by this set as well thanks to 120 BP Sucker Punch.

Checks... Machamp? Really? I find that hard to believe. You're banking on the confuse hit. If he hits you instead of hitting himself in confusion, you're gone. Mightyena can't take a hit.

But an interesting set. I think you've found maybe the only viable one for Mightyena lol. But I wouldn't even use him in NU, let alone againt a Machamp. Raticate and Patrat are better :(

And why a hasty nature? 156 SpA isn't going to help you do anything even if you Me First something like Zap Cannon. You're better off with Jolly so you can possibly live 2 attacks instead of just one.

I don't see 156 SpA on that set, lol.

Plus Mightyena is already frail, and priority users like Conkelderp and Hitmontop easily steamroll it. How much does Machamp's Bullet Punch do to this guy again?

Slowbro@Red Card
-Recycle
-Scald
-Ice Beam
-Slack Off
252hp/226def/32spd
Bold(+Def, -Atk)
Regenerator

A little gimmicky, but stops most set up sweepers. Recycle lets you use Red Card again, while the rest of the moves are your standard tank.

Azumarill (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Sap Sipper
EVs: 252 HP / 112 Def / 144 SDef
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Soak
- Toxic
- Protect
- Refresh

This Azumarril may look like the biggest gimmick ever but in all honestly this guy has caused to many ragequits its not even funny.

Use Soak in a Steel Type and poison it and watch him slowly die. Sap Sipper makes him the perfect Ferrothorn counter, there is nothing better than watching a Ferro die because of poison.

Soak also makes your enemy lose his STAB making Azumarrill capacity of surviving even better than before

I use it along with sand for even bigger effects, there is nothing like watching a steel type dying to the sandstorm.

As for the last move the best option could have been Perish Song because pokes with substitute completely wall him but then BAM not compatible with Soak. Therefore i settled with Refresh to heal myself because this Azumarril hates Poison or Ferrothorn paralysis.

What setup sweeper is this going to stop that the standard tank doesn't? The only one that I can see this working better against is Bulk up+payback Conkeldurr.
